    Diablo 3

I think that was the joke :P
  2. Faack man, this topic is offensive to my being. Will someone else please gain interest in this, it is rather brilliant. We could start together... ...friend?
  3. Everything except downloads like media and whatnot. OS, programs and games pretty much on the SSD. Although given the size of games, some I will probably leave on my HDD when the space get low (not like I would want to play more than 5 at the same time anyway). Also, ironically it took probably about 7 minutes to install Windows 7 from my USB stick. Not even a USB 3.0 stick either...
  4. When I click programs like Chrome they open near instantly, relative to a few second delay I previously had. Photoshop starts much quicker too, virus scans seem to complete very quick (although bear in mind my SSD is fairly empty right now). Not tried video yet but will later (latest game of thrones ep in 720p). The Witcher 2 EE seems to load up incredibly fast, textures seem to ping instantly too. For the price I think they're one of the biggest noticeable upgrades to the system you can get.
  5. I went with a Crucial M4 128GB SSD, has a lower specified write rate than the OCZ ones but apparently you wouldn't really notice any real world difference. Supposedly really reliable, got it for £88 too which is pretty good. And nothing wrong with getting excited by the post Moogle. :p
  6. Soo, put together my first PC at the weekend. Maxed everything at 7.9 in the Windows index and runs Witcher 2 at max settings flawlessly! And wow...SSDs are the future (I've tasted them). Just seconds to boot Windows.
  7. That image reinforces what pixellation is, it already looks like a badly blown up image when you resize it. Just imagine those blocks as part of someone's face. Now you're using a single colour over a wider area than when the image was smaller. So basically it will always look patchy/blocky. Yeah. Journal papers usually require 300 dpi + images so they print well and so you can zoom in far in online PDFs.

Prepare for mental torment while dreaming of the chant "Undo. Undo. Undo." "It's a killer. Do not die."
  9. Either way, it's not 'die-hard' fans buying HD remake classics on the PS3. I'd wage a lot have never played the originals before and find it a nice opportunity to dig into a popular classic. A lot of people do have HDTVs, and I'd be lying if I said SD content didn't look crap on it (even upscaled). I'm grateful for them and have bought quite a few.
  10. Well it's good you cleared up that one. Nintendo are a business, ergo Nintendo wants to make profit. HD remakes make profit, else companies wouldn't commission them. Obviously. Even if your opinion was based on little more than hunch and guess, it makes no difference. These games make profit, and don't take up time of the company themselves. So from a business standpoint your argument is poor, even nonsensical. Who said every game? Just the ones that people liked/would love to play again. Of which Nintendo have many. Please, take off the blinkers grandad and join the rest of us in 2012. It's surprising how little you think HD has caught on, I'd bet a significant proportion of gamers have HDTVs (at least gamers with HD consoles, which owners of the WiiU will be).
  11. Wow, that's a pretty naive view. 'It's all cash out of the bank' - like Nintendo have a very limited amount of cash, and spending a small amount on a HD remake means they can't afford to make other games. No, companies hire out other companies to make HD remakes, said games then make a profit so there's even more 'cash in the bank'. More cash to spend on waggle gimmicks, or whatever the crap they'd like. Change 'handful of die hard fans' to 'anybody who has bought a TV in the last 3 years and from now on'. Nearly all reasonably sized TVs being sold now are in HD, and larger TVs are cheaper than ever before. Larger the TV, shitter the old game looks. Completely understandable why people might like to play old classics in HD. I would rather see Nintendo invest in good games and HD, like the other two companies have, which they've only really just started doing. Last step? Implement a non-shit online infrastructure. Then let's pray more wonderful franchises like Banjo Kazooie get sold off then.
  12. Bought nearly all my components to build my first PC today (for gaming), takes so much longer than you'd think to research what the best / cost efficient components are. Should be fun working out how to put most of it together! £55 - Antec 300 two case with usb 3.0 (ebuyer.com) - Has front USB 3.0 ports, apparently very airy to prevent overheating. Woot? £110 - ASRock Z77 Extreme 4 Motherboard (dabs.com) - Seems pretty slick from reviews and supports crossfire/SLI with front USB 3.0 connectors too. £39.97- 8GB Corsair CML8GX3M2A1600C9 Low Profile Vengeance 1600MHz RAM (Amazon) - Wow, RAM sure got cheap these days. £175 - Intel Ivy Bridge Core i5-3570K Processor (Amazon) - almost the same price as the Sandy Bridge and marginally better. It's unlocked (hence the K) so should be able to get this up to at least 4.5GHz. £28.50- Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO processor cooler (ebuyer.com). One of the best apparently. £89 - Crucial 128GB M4 SSD (ebuyer.com) - Should make mincemeat of OS bootup and general load times £109.26-Corsair CMPSU-750HX Professional Series 750W Power Supply (ebuyer.com) - Quite pricey but worth every penny. Modular so no cable clutter, 7 year warranty and one of the most efficient and trusted. Got more wattage than I needed to allow for crossfire if I want to do that at some point. £10 - 2 x Antec TriCool 120mm 3 speed fan (amazon). - Fans...umm...fans. :p Still need to buy: £200 - Radeon HD 7850 2048MB GDDR5 Twin Frozr III graphics card (awaiting stock on Novatech). Seems to be an amazingly efficient/low temperature card that can easily be overclocked to equal top tier cards. Already have: Keyboard/mouse/HDD/DVD-RW/Win7 Comes to a fair bit but should last quite a while.
  13. Actually you haven't grasped the point at all. The people they hire out to do HD makeovers are companies that probably won't have the money/expertise to make their own games (or at least decent games) ie. nobody cares if doing this means they can't do anything else. e.g. the company Just Add Water are handling Oddworld remakes. They've made pretty much sod all else so who cares that they're spending their time making Oddworld games? In fact, they're probably (in fact, almost certainly) glad for the business. The money they charge for doing the remakes is obviously just a small chunk of the profit the game will make back through sales (else they wouldn't comission it). Ergo, no loss of Nintendo man hours, no loss of Nintendo profit (in fact, gain). Exactly. None of it would be done if there wasn't profit made through doing it. It's probably a good thing having remakes, might give Nintendo marketers some games to actually market (if that's even Nintendo and not contracted it out as well). :p
  14. Yeah, Ville and david.dakota you got pretty much the wrong end of the stick on HD remakes. They're hardly going to have the in-house talent spend their time making sharper textures for remakes; it's left to outside companies in most cases. And because people buy the games, that more than pays off the cost of having people do the work for you. Having HD is not about being a graphics whore, it's about games not looking unpleasant (as they do on the Wii) on larger HDTVs (which almost all new TVs these days people buy these days are). HD should really be a standard, I found it disappointing when PS2 non-remakes started to be released on the PSN store.
  15. Best bet like Shorty says is to build yourself. I'm new to building PCs but I've read around on the best value-for-money components and feel like I at least have a clue how to go about putting it together (plan to put together a decent PC soon to replace my 4-5 year old one). So ridiculous now that I think about the PCs I/family have bought in the past. I know they require a little knowledge to assemble, but companies really do add a couple of hundred on to the end price and the components they use are often generic or worse than the ones you can buy yourself. If I were you, since you don't want to build your PC go partway between - buy a barebones PC. These contain the case, processor, motherboard, power supply and RAM and are cheaper than buying a full PC with usually better specs for the price. Then you just need to slot in a reasonably inexpensive graphics card and install an OS (if you have these on your old PC you could transfer these over). I'd recommend you get a barebones PC that has an i5 processor which is superior to the i3 and should be great for your editing needs. Something like this would be pretty good for you: http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/barebones/bb-23204d.html Should last you a while longer than if you went with a worse processor at least.
  16. This game is fantastic, from having played the beta a lot this weekend. It doesn't have the format of a tired old repetitive MMORPG. I've had loads of fun and I think knowing there's no subscription means you can actually just enjoy it and not feel pressured to play due to having a subscription. It's just so easy to play. You can also just be wandering around and an active event triggers, such as some kind of behemoth raging havoc and you're given the option to take him down. Gone are the days of waiting around pointlessly for certain job classes to team up with you since every class heals, and there's no real tanks either. Would be really good to party up with you guys. Again, I can't praise this enough, and this is from someone who is fairly disenchanted with the MMORPG genre as a whole.
  17. Well yeah, they have to make money somehow. It's pretty unique in that it's one of the few proper MMORPGs without subscription fees. Anyone who still hasn't decided and might want to join in on the epicness at 8PM tonight, there's a few sites offering instant email of the code (including the GW2 site).
  18. £40. Shame no one else here has said they'll be playing the beta this weekend...
  19. I think what you actually meant to say was "I don't like Red Dwarf, I must be broken."
  20. Got interested in this despite not having played GW1, had an Amazon £25 voucher and it seemed to be a tenner cheaper to prepurchase on there (£40) so went ahead. Downside is they don't e-mail the codes and expected delivery is between Friday to Sunday! I'd like to try out the beta event this weekend so it'll be a shame if it doesn't come in time...
  21. Damn...so people can't play online until tomorrow after 4PM (Japan time)? Given it's weekend tomorrow the traffic will probably be worse, it's a shame we might not get chance to play it lag-free.
  22. Oh, cool. Was wondering why the main button was bringing up some message and not starting anything.
  23. Still downloading, should probably get around to playing this tomorrow..
