Maybe the Japanese are a more patient folk. Or something. Them sales'll come. Just got to wait for the games. -
General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion
Sheikah replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Well for a start, the immediate launch period is probably not a great indicator given how the Wii U ultimately ended up, despite a reasonable launch. And second; the best selling game for the system is Knack, which isn't even charting that highly, yet it's still the best selling system in the entire country that week. I can only imagine that when there are actually games worth buying for it over there that it will do even better. -

I still think that's pretty impressive given there aren't any games out for it yet. I mean, the top selling title is Knack. :p -
Let me just wipe the venomous spittle coming from that post, first. And CAPS! I don't disagree with you about the Wii U games out being better than the current PS4 games (it has been out longer, after all). And I'm all for different tastes. But I know @Dcubed has tastes for more than just Nintendo. So my point was, unless he was purposefully ignoring good games on other systems I just didn't see how what he said could be true, given one has been out for 7 years with a consistent and solid output (of far more than just Western blockbusters), while the other has not been out long and has a limited range of stellar games that haven't already been released elsewhere. I'm not trying to flame, I'm just generally curious how someone can boast such.

Aye, that's what I mean. Unless someone's pallette is ridiculously distasteful of most games that aren't Nintendo first party, I just don't get the 'I have more games on the Wii U than the last gen consoles', unless people are purposefully avoiding games on other consoles. There's really so much more on the other formats. I also don't agree with the 'why buy a Nintendo console if not for first party' mentality. Nintendo should have got decent support and not leave people to utter this. The N64 days with Rare were absolutely brilliant, and at the beginning of the Wii U's life the developers were with it. In truth, they're gone primarily because Nintendo fucked up with the specification of their system.

When I read posts like this I can't help but think people are perhaps deliberately remaining ignorant of great games on other consoles. Ok, the Wii U has a few really good titles and perhaps some more decent ones, but it's almost unthinkable, at least to me, to compare this to library on a console that has consistently delivered for 7 years. I get that people have different tastes, but for me the Wii U hasn't even delivered much fresh/intriguing in the way of first party Nintendo games, which is really what this console is for now.

Sorry to say @S\.C\.G if it can't be turned on then you're out of luck. Your PC won't even recognise the PS3 partition if you were to do all that. Shame you couldn't pick up one of the cheap PS3s and slot your previous hard drive in it, I recall some deals recently where the super slim 12GB was £100 new.

Filthy lie. It's too small to see.

I stopped playing a long time ago, after I got the highest HHA score and rocked a gold house (with completed gold set..heh). After that I just felt like there wasn't much to do on a day-to-day basis of significance, really.
-
For me that'll be Persona 5. Unless something else really awesome comes along/it gets released on PS4 or Vita.
-
That scoring system just seems needlessly arbitrary.

Assassin's Creed III on Wii U is £5.95 new at The Game Collection.

Really looking forward to this. The ability to be invaded even in soul form now should mean one of the best things about the game happens more frequently.

I meant the new Stick of Truth. South Park 64 is like Songs of Praise against Stick of Truth. -

It's a real shame, I can't see anything turning the Wii U around. Damn Nintendo and their lack of foresight when they designed the thing. Also I couldn't imagine in a million years that South Park would have gone on Nintendo consoles. It's one of the most graphic/disgusting (but awesome) games ever made. I just can't see Nintendo allowing that. -
Where's the Ocarina of Time when you need it, eh?

That sounds absolutely brilliant, great idea Daft. I'd be up for that, definitely. Three weeks sounds pretty good to me.

Substitute 'lost iPad' for drug of choice. :p -

That's actually quite hilarious. The guy seems like he must be on drugs. -
Oh don't worry, I enjoyed XIII-2 a lot but I don't think it's £35 material, especially when XIII-2 dropped to £10 really quickly. I think as well when they're selling a story spread over three parts that the full asking price for each is a bit much.

Also beat this last night. Did everything, and while the gameplay is super easy this was one of my favourite games of the past year. Really like how outrageously vile some of the scenes were and how 'South Park' this felt. Would be great if they did another with improved gameplay.

Patches/Updates and Retro Games of the Future
Sheikah replied to Goafer's topic in General Gaming Discussion
A more positive way of thinking about it is that games of the past never had patches, so could be buggered in certain areas from the off. :p I remember Harvest Moon BTN PAL version on PS1 had a killer glitch that caused your game to permenantly freeze after you got married. And since you had saved several times since the day you agreed to marry, you were essentially locked into an impending doom. Sad times. Really though, patches are still doable via other methods even if it's more hassle and there are very few games I think that are ridiculously broken/unenjoyable without a patch. Saying that, I think with the PlayStation Now service Sony are clearly gearing to offer an up to date retro library via other means (just like how HD remakes substituted PS2 backwards compatibility on PS3), so it wouldn't surprise me if patches were dropped sooner rather than later. I'm not sure this is necessarily true all the time. I think games of the past could be pretty broken/unbalanced in many areas, but there was just no way of fixing it. The games you mentioned were undeniably good quality, but there are also such examples in this day and age. Although on the other side... you only need to look at games such as Fallout or Elder Scrolls to see the complexity of games has skyrocketed, so it's more likely shit could wrong and need patching. -
There'll be more, in time. It's just that the game is worth nowhere near the £30-35 asking price at the moment. :p

Unfortunately you can't just take the hard drive out and put it in another machine. If that were possible, people could just download games to hard drive off the internet and plug it into their PS3. You would have to do a system transfer (which needs the old PS3 to be working) to move it over, or download your stuff again. If your saves were on the Plus cloud then they should be downloadable.
