They could actually scale up Pokemon as it exists now for a console. The visuals would need some doing, but this looks really cool to me.
-
If I'm being honest, I don't think Pokémon games have an 'immense scale' like has been implied. Most of the scenery is fairly basic and often constructed of repeating tiles or objects. I think the whole 'it would have less stuff/more spread out content in it on home console' is just a weird thing to say. The games aren't really packed to begin with. You can also look at 2D to 3D transitions (which would be one of the major impacts of handheld to console) with games like Dragon Quest VIII. Having it on console worked wonders in terms of immersion. It was top class.

No one generally up for Saturday late-ish evenings? Work can be knackering and I'm generally in a better frame of mind for these sorts of things then.

They're really cheap on eBay.

That's some expensive £300 'N7' lettering.

What happened to you and your pirating-little-shit ways, Oxigen? :p

Not in any significant number outside of Japan they aren't.

The social aspect of trading Pokemon face to face is dead outside Japan. Sticking to a tradition that has become pretty much obsolete as a result of the internet makes no sense. Also having an online console game means that proper regulation on cheating could be enforced. At the moment there is no point to the GTS since it is full of easy to hack Pokemon. It's all a bit of a farce, really.

Been playing this a bit, looks so good in full HD (PC version). They really nailed the feel of it. The battle gameplay is pretty easy for an RPG regular. If you like South Park and Paper Mario this will be heaven for you.

The PS4 and Infamous bundle is pretty cheap to preorder on GameStop at the moment at £369.97.

Pokemon on a home console could be a very good idea which breaks from tradition. Which is exactly why Nintendo probably won't do it.

[game] Riot: do whatever the fuck you want mafia

Looking at many of those abilities, I feel really sorry for whoever gets made Mafia next. lol. -
Dang...tis now expired.

(Just noticed this reply)... You know, I get the feeling the game will look pretty next gen. There's still lots of money to be made from the old consoles I think, so for them to lock in next gen only is a pretty solid step. We'll see how good it looks when it comes.

Oh, yeah. I thought you meant generally, sorry.

I think it's a shame when people brand any discussion of opposing views as 'fighting'. This is a forum for discussing things, and people don't always have the same view. It would be really boring if everyone felt the same way about everything.

It's a niche scenario, really. It's not something I'd expect to pay an extra £100 to have. Teenagers are probably more likely to play in their own room and aren't likely to be kicked off. Kids (one of Nintendo's biggest target demographics) generally get made to stop playing to do their homework/whatever reason anyway. And at least me and my friends, again, had TVs in our rooms when we were young. Even if they were relatively small. You're basically looking mostly at adult couples with the Wii U being hooked up to the TV (like me). Today we have TVCatchup/iPlayer/4od on tablets and laptops, and generally there may only be one or two worthwhile things to watch in the evening for us anyway. The chances that we both absolutely need the TV at the same time is usually quite low, and even then I'm reluctant to use the gamepad on account of how poor the screen quality is. I'm not saying off screen gaming doesn't have appeal, but I am saying it doesn't have mainstream appeal. Certainly not to the extent they charge everyone £100 extra for it.
-
But what I'm saying is, lots of games aren't even using it for this. I also don't think it's really that seamless like you suggest. Whether you look away from the TV and down at the gamepad map, or press a button for a map to come up on the screen, you're still broken away from the gameplay screen. I also like my game to be paused while I am not looking at the screen since anything can happen while you're not really paying attention. The only reason it worked that well in Wind Waker was essentially because the boat auto sailed without additional input while you could browse through the map. Any other game and it's no better than a map on screen.
-
How has the Gamepad revolutionised gaming? Most games aren't even using it for much more than a second screen, which was already done before Wii U. What was that about you saying you're not taking in by PR fluff?

[game] Riot: do whatever the fuck you want mafia
Sheikah replied to Sméagol's topic in General Chit Chat
Very fun to play. I'm the only townie who lost, heh. To think, it was nearly town perfection! It's a shame the Mafia didn't protect themselves and come up with more creative roles to increase their chances of success. If I was Mafia I would have set up undetectable passive redirects and protections to stop people screwing with me. -

If you're Mafia you can still change your passive if you haven't already to a lynchbomb. Trolol. -

Shame on the lack of Paul lynch... I'm absolutely amazed if your ability was ever allowed for even a day, @DuD. Combined with a protection passive that would be pretty much immediately disqualifying Mafia from any kind of success. Can you tell us all your passives and actives since game begin? I got that you did no active on D1 and that your active was this death control the night before... -
Well Nintendo have done much wrong with their past few consoles and their third party relations, so your hypothetical scenario based belief is pretty much fantasy, you know. :p
