Fucking knew, I fucking knew you would quote a 'number sold over X years' statistic in your rebuttal, to make it look better than it currently is. Serebii, you are the king of spin. And yes. You can't say something is new if everything it is doing is old. If it's not doing it, it's not new.

Yet like I said...the gamepad is hardly being used in any significant way. So the technology it is using is not new. Old consoles were efficient. So again, not new. 3DS is hardly thriving. Regardless, PS2 wasn't weak. It was weaker, but not weak. It was relatively comparable to the gamecube and Xbox. The Wii U is not comparable to the other consoles. Of course. People are buying the PS4/X1 because they actually know about them. Not because they actually want them.
-
Who cares if it is efficient or low energy? The SNES may be efficient and low energy, but that doesn't mean jack. PC will always edge over consoles but is a continually running format. When we speak of generations we speak of games consoles. The technology within the Wii U is indeed 7 years too late.
-
Then how do you explain it being not that much more powerful than a PS3/360? Don't say the gamepad saves it because it hardly gets used by even their own IP in any meaningful way. How so?

Ever since I got Spotify Premium a few months back I've been listening to the occasional gaming soundtrack as well as my usual stuff. Today I fancied typing in Chrono Trigger, and the album it spat it is really great. Really great. Track 9 At the bottom of the night is still the saddest song in a video game.

Seriously, you ask why? You're asking why a game franchise where it seems 90% of the effort goes into changing player strips and names? Ok, I'm kidding here, but since when have these games ever been about showing off graphics? Come on, Christ. It's not hard to piece together what I'm saying here. You are praising the Wii to Wii U transition as being more of an improvement than PS3 to PS4 (which is all kinds of wrong, but let's roll with this for now). You then compare Wii FIFA to Wii U FIFA. "Wow, what a difference. What a reason to upgrade". So what I'm saying is... why not compare Wii FIFA to PS4/X1 FIFA? "Wow, what a fucking rad upgrade". Point is, if you really were just a Wii gamer, a jump to a Wii U is still far less than if you jumped to the PS4/X1, for your FIFA gaming needs. So the higher spec consoles win out in wowing people. Wii U's upgrade will never impress as much as it is a generation behind. It doesn't matter what flawed analogies you use to try and shine a favourable light on the Wii U's performance. People do not see it that way and are not supporting it accordingly. Cross generational gaming. Gimped to the lowest common denominator with usually minor improvements on the higher spec consoles. -
That's pretty cool, must try this now.

Blue/Red was epic, A* gaming material, the stuff of legends that was one of my favourite gaming experiences. I was young and Pokémon was a new and cool thing, and there was a general hysteria over it at the time. Gold/Silver was also cool and followed not too long after. R/S came when I felt Pokémon was done, and now it was just treading the same path for cash. The design of the Pokémon also seemed to change to something I didn't like (maybe they changed the artist). Something looked more synthetic/CG about them tbh, particularly the legendaries. Overall, the game didn't feel as good either...something about G/S was really exciting, but this didn't have it. So overall for me it was a case of franchise/novelty fatigue and my growing up, as well as less cool Pokemon and a less exciting game.

My least favourite Pokemon games. Don't think I'll be buying it.

Doesn't really matter that the upgrade is more noticeable if the upgrade is still a generation behind. Also...Wii FIFA to to Wii U FIFA? Wii FIFA to PS4 FIFA would be much more noticeable, silly. :p -
You don't have to be a shareholder to feel the effects of third party abandonment. Poor sales equates poor support, means less variety and games and less satisfied customers.

Exactly. Not only that, but if he's going to down the 'software was better' route, it really wasn't. In the same time period that the PS4 has been out, the Wii U's best new game offerings were Nintendoland and NSMBU. And maybe ZombiU. Hardly amazing, really. -

So is this where you now imply 'decent launch' means software as opposed to the sales of the systems? That's looking like your get out of jail free card now. You are mistaken btw. Any 'trash talk' from me is regarding Nintendo's inability to mix up their output as well as their seriously lacklustre hardware and network features. -

It doesn't just change your point, it eliminates it. Seriously, what kind of consolation is it that the PS4 and X1 also have 'droughts' so the the Wii U by comparison isn't that bad? There is no comparison...because the latter two consoles have hardly been out that long. It takes time for software to release. If anything your point makes the Wii U appear worse. It is bested by new consoles with 'droughts'. -

So same time next year then we will see profit? I'll hold you to that. Also PS4 and X1 comparisons...you know these have been out since late last year, right? -

As said by Hogge, 3 years is enough time to fill the gap between Vita and Wii U. -

But literally the only reason you would be buying the phone is to play Nintendo games...all the other features/software/apps on it would almost certainly be outclassed by any phone put out by manufacturers who know what they are doing with years of fine tuning their apps and OS under their belt. In that case, it makes more sense to want Nintendo to put their games onto existing phone app stores than make their own phones. -

I think this will have to just be a blanket disagree from me then, as an avid player of both handhelds there certainly feels like quite a gap. That Uncharted was a launch game and still trumps everything on the other system says enough for me. Also the drop in lines of resolution makes sense to squeeze more out of the console for the sake of small resolution loss that most people won't even notice. But that can be done and often is on many a system and doesn't really speak about the system's faults, rather developer motive. Borderlands is looking pretty incredible on the Vita though, despite having played through it on PS3 and PC already I'm tempted to go at it again. -

Isn't even close is a huge exaggeration there. It's either at least as close or closer to PS3 than 3DS is to GameCube though, and that's the only point I was making - there's still at least a clear 1 gen gap between units. If you look at Borderlands 2 or Uncharted on Vita you would definitely place this closer to PS3 than PS2. Likewise, when I look at games on the 3DS I would place it closer to GameCube (but certainly not level with it). -

Out of interest, do you have a Vita that you have played a fair number of games on to say this? From my experience I'd say the difference is pretty huge and the gap is about the same between this and last gen handhelds. DS felt like it was slightly behind N64 (it did Mario 64 DS with updated visuals but something felt a little less than N64 to me) and the PSP was somewhere below PS2, so probably about 1 generation between both units. This time 3DS feels somewhat below gamecube and the Vita somewhat below PS3. You'd be splitting hairs to go into any more detail but for all intents and purposes there's always felt like a roughly 1 gen gap. As for the 3DS being powerful for the time, again I'd have to very much disagree. When I got my 3DS I wasn't left feeling wowed or that it was good for the time; I was definitely happy with the boost from the DS but I didn't feel like it was as good as it could have been. I remember thinking that the resolution on the original 3DS was pretty low, a problem which was amplified on the XL. -

Have to say, I feel the same. I also don't like the shape of the XL; the bottom corners or the unit can make holding it for long periods of time pretty uncomfortable. -
I thought it was Ashley's game and Daft was playing? Might be wrong!

Mario condoms...do they help you get one up? I'll be here all night.

Eh...I was happy to (I was praising being able to get Pikmin with this deal) until you derailed it with this facile argument.
