You're banned from the Wii U board? The fuck... someone like @Cube going to waive that? :p

To be honest, both PS4 and X1 have about the same going for them games-wise at the moment. In truth, it's surprising so many have upgraded already, purely because the games aren't all there yet. If we had to guess, I'd say the X1 is selling pretty well, just the PS4 happens to be storming it so there appears to be a fairly large difference. PS4 got positioned really well in terms of initial price, marketing, power and support this gen, and people were hungry for the next gen.

Do Nintendo still have what it takes to produce hardware?
Sheikah replied to Fierce_LiNk's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Fuck no, I'd rather have it on screen. I am saying the alternative is there (tablet) for games that want to do that. And while it's not difficult to look down at a tablet (no more than a gamepad), I'd still prefer it on screen. But that's just me. I dismiss off TV mostly because the gamepad is so poor quality. I deliberately didn't play Wind Waker HD on it because it looked atrocrious compared to my HDTV. Like, I'd never dream of playing any game that looks nice on it. Fair enough if you don't care about how a game looks, but I do, so I will never argue in favour of using the thing for that purpose. -

Not difficult in the slightest. The idea of that being an issue to you is pretty amusing. I'm always checking my tablet during gaming anyway. I'll tell you what is more difficult - having a fat controller that feels like ass in your hands for hours on end. -

I've noticed this with you a lot; you need to make your points in a less absurd manner. When you say things like 'it's four times the price' or 'a £400 tablet', do you know what happens? People instantly switch off, because you're dramatically over-exaggerating to make the thing you're loyal to seem like a far better option. It is completely antagonistic to your cause. A tablet can do everything the gamepad is supposed to do. I say that because the gamepad is supposed to be used in an inventive way, as a supplement to the TV screen running the main game. Yes, it can be used to play the actual game off it, but then the very reason it was touted as delivering new experiences is effectively diminished (as remote device play means it really just becomes a TV screen, which is neither new in itself nor is it offering any new sort of new gameplay experience). So while you can argue the gamepad lets you play off screen unlike a tablet, I can argue that most people already have multiple TVs for taking the game elsewhere, so that's not really a big deal. The real point is that it is supposed to enhance games you play on TV, which a tablet can do. When I navigated the map while sailing my boat in Wind Waker, buttons may as well not have existed. -

Easy, you don't play the game on it. You use it in some mini game esque way, swiping things out the way or menu/map navigation (like wind waker map charting). Playing on a smaller screen is hardly something most people need or want, what with most people having multiple TVs or wanting to play games on glorious HD TVs. Reasonable feature, sure, but I don't think they can justify it as a main console feature. -
If I ever do anything like this again I'll announce ahead of time when I'll start it. Although would be great if someone else did one, so I could play.

I would argue this is a bigger risk; by making it the controller they are putting all their eggs in one basket with this idea - if the concept isn't popular then they're in a difficult position. It also put the price of the console way up, unlike the other consoles which didn't charge extra for such a thing since it is optional. NB - regarding the tablets being 'optional' as they're not included with the console - the gamepad is also optional. Most games aren't using the gamepad in any significant way. Aside from off screen play. -

Sheikah replied to Fierce_LiNk's topic in Nintendo Gaming
The initial point was basically 'you don't have to buy an extra tablet for the off screen play/interactivity with Wii U'. But you do, as it's included in the price and the reason why the Wii U costs more than it should. This point was then used as a positive compared to the use of tablets by the other consoles - 'Unlike the Wii U, you have to buy a tablet to get the same functionality'. Except most people who will want this have a tablet already. So in most people's cases, non propriety tablet wins out in terms of cost effectiveness, plus you have a useful tablet to use for other things rather than just a screen. -

Except most people into tech already have a tablet. So with Wii U you are paying for a Wii U console and again for a propriety 'tablet' (it isn't a tablet). With others you are paying for the console only. You already have the tablet, so you're saving money. Also you can't compare online services. Wii U is severely lacking comprehensive online games, and the lineup for such titles is looking bleak (particularly since most Nintendo games don't feature much significant online play). It's like arguing the bird in the hand is worth as much as 1 in the bush. It isn't. -

Yeah, the latter. Technically 2013's winter 'goes into' 2014. Fruity interpretation.
-
Winter 2014 can still be in 2015, due to some slightly fruity interpretation that publishers sometimes like to do. FFX HD on PS3/Vita was meant to be Winter 2013 but came out in March here.

At least you know one way or another it won't really have made any difference. Now it's down to the fates.

General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion
Sheikah replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in General Gaming Discussion
To be fair, it has a reasonably decent catalogue of games now and can play pretty much all PS1 games and nearly all the PSP games that were available digitally. There's a lot of content to get for it, even though it hasn't got many blockbuster titles. That indie and HD remake scene too. It just becomes more and more attractive I think, especially at around £100 and all the shit people accumulate on Plus. -
More because it was the shortened version of Luffy, but your use of Luffy as an avatar certainly helped the choice.

You're some kind of evil genius that did *something* to them to bring them to life. That, and you weren't actually a guessable member, so I had to do something with you. :p Naturally.

Ha sorry, missing players were either due to member names translating too obviously to pictures or lack of imagination on my part.

Hell yes.
