  1. That's a weak retort. What you have there is a ton of titles that show how darn necessary new IP is. Many of the critically successful games of last gen were new IPs (or sequels in a series new to that generation, such as successive Uncharted, Dark Souls, Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect and BioShock games). It shows how important new IP is because it's often new IP that goes on to captivate people in new ways. There are some series that have stood the test of time as they have a sort of timeless quality, but many don't. Can't believe I forgot Minecraft too. Yes new IP can fail, but then if you're a good developer who knows what they're doing, it really shouldn't. Looking at failure rates of new IP across the board is hardly anything to go by, since you should expect Nintendo to be better than your average developer and they have a proven track record from many years past.
  2. I'll say watch the show first. I prefer the books, but sometimes you come up with your own impressions of characters that get sullied by their representation in the show.
  3. Fuck, nearly double the sales on PS4 than X1 then. That's pretty darn impressive. Do we actually have proper X1 hardware sales besides those "shipped" yet?
  4. If you can use the £5 off code I would recommend Tesco, as Zavii are shit.
  5. You can't really factor in the cost of the games, as you'd have to pay that anyway if it was released on Wii U. In terms of 'added cost' on top of what you would pay if it was released on Wii U, it's £80 less than that. I also know you've often said how you got cheap bargains on the Wii U and games for under a tenner. Well, in the interest of balance, you should do the same here. If you've done the same for the Wii U, you shouldn't list full RRP games if you can wait a couple of months and get half price (especially since FIFA games plummet rapidly). Similarly, PS Plus is often cheaper than that in various deals. It honestly seems like you're deliberately trying to make the cost seem as high as possible. You're also getting the ability to play every FIFA/whatever for at least the next 6 years, so it won't be 'just 2 games'. I can't get over the fact that you would literally only value those 2 games on the system. You would have the most powerful games console on the market and support from just about every third party developer there is. And you only want those two games? Why not try explore other games out there? With the PS Plus subscription you will get many games to try without paying any extra on top. Try it out! Assassin's Creed, Uncharted, The Last of Us, Mass Effect, LittleBigPlanet, Red Dead Redemption (I'm counting it), BioShock, Borderlands, Portal (technically), Demon's Souls, The Walking Dead, Journey, Ni No Kuni, Gears of War, Braid. You may think of these as a very large chunk of what was both critically and commercially successful last generation. They were all new IPs.
  6. Yeah...that boat departed white a while ago. I have quite a few games to play now on my PS4. In terms of games coming out at the present, they're nearly all coming out on the next gen systems too, while there are also some next gen only games. I could quite easily imagine there being a threshold where when a certain number of games are released on a next gen system, people will upgrade. It looks like a lot of people are jumping systems now.
  7. AC wasn't really made to push the limits of the new hardware, given how many systems it was put on (and how early in the system's life it was released). Saying that, the PS4 version was 1080p (the X1 was only 900p) vs last gen 720p, so you'd have a much easier time seeing how gorgeous the game was if you saw that version instead.
  8. Aided by the not-unfair-at-all starting positions of the last game's best performing players. I think this game got a lot more difficult since you only have one item, and the frequency with which the annoying coin appears (even for people not even near the front). 3rd and below tends to just be even more of a shitfest now; quite often you'll be hit by a red shell or something else and it's difficult to manage both protecting yourself and getting out of the midzone effectively.
  9. Try stick with it, after maybe 2-3 hours you should have the basics down. It's actually rather simple to use.
  10. I can be very...persuasive. :p
  11. Lucky, as in they didn't spot you hauling someone young into a bag? That's so ReZ.
  12. Damn. Ye be needing help. Saying that, I've been reading until now.
  13. Oh ma gerrrd. From Software... Yes please.
  14. In pursuit of old gaming music that still sounds great, I came back to Phantasy Star Online. Phantasy Star Online. Just listening to this epic track reminds me of the very best game Sega have made. Such memories. Audio
  15. If you pay more, you can get an older version too as well as some resource packs and the brilliant To the Moon. The older version isn't exactly rendered obsolete by VX Ace (some people prefer it, and there's more resources available for it). One thing of note is that the character models are more chibi in VX Ace, which some don't like. Although I prefer VX Ace in most regards. I paid 12 dollars for the lot. The character modifier tool is really good for converting resources between 2000/XP/VX Ace. So worth it.
  16. Can you still do the stunts as you go off a ramp for a speed boost?
  17. Yeah, the PS3 is still a pretty strong console. I imagine their servers will be up for quite a few years yet (Persona 5 isn't even out until next year IIRC, and that's PS3 only). Most PS2 servers stayed up quite a while and PS2 online was far less popular and not exactly brilliant.
  18. Assassin's Creed 3 for Wii U just £3.95 at TheGameCollection.
  19. You could just pick up a cheap preowned 360/PS3 and get them on that. That way you're probably looking at 150 or so for the console and those 2 games, that should see you through a few years at least. PS3 will be free online too.
  20. I just have to bring this to everyone's attention. Stupendous value: RPG Maker is a brilliant tool, VX Ace being the latest version. I've used it quite a bit over the years, anyone with a passing interest should check this out. It's also worth going for $6 since XP is also pretty good, and To the Moon is one of the best game experiences you'll likely ever find. I believe @EEVILMURRAY may have been interested in this.
  21. Mine has come, my girlfriend says. I'll be on later guys!
  22. Think he said he got it for 30 already but good deal nonetheless.
  23. I thought this was because Debug was getting a large console with the game? Tesco have been Royal Mail for me before.
  24. And you don't care if it has been all done before many times? I do.
  25. @ReZourceman, strongly disagree with this. I found it rather boring; it's the world/NSMB structure rehashed. Monster Hunter is the right choice. Especially if you've never played it before.
