Have to admit I agree here. If you are playing people of reasonable skill level like yourself then one clusterfuck (that often happens within the first 20 seconds, while people are bunched together) can destroy any chance you have. I think the one item rule and the frequency of the coin also explains why red shells feel 10 times more dangerous this time around too.

It's reaaaally good. The sailing to islands without load times reminds me a little of Wind Waker, except you can also attack and board other ships. Massive scope to the game, so much to see and do. Looks amazing too. 9/10 on Eurogamer, GameSpot, EDGE. It is the right choice.

I can't event stream HD! It's a travesty, I tell you.

The MK64 Rainbow Road music is also the best. Love it. Damn those bouncing chain chomps, though.
-
I wish we had good internet. Exchange able to receive fibre, but the cabinet is not...3Mb really sucks.
-
1. How fucking short is Rainbow Road? I don't know why, but I just noticed. The N64 version could also do with being longer (but not as long as the original...*shudder*) 2. Wouldn't this game benefit amazingly from DLC tracks? I'd love to get even more tracks. They could sell something like a 16 pack of tracks for £15. Hell, I'd buy it.

Have to agree and that's why I really think Nintendo need to develop some more new IP, in the same scope as Zelda and Mario (ie. budgeting and appeal). Xenoblade is a good start, but I'd like to see more. With Mario Kart it's literally one per console, and while it continues to sell, it doesn't ever produce the massive boosts that a new really exciting game does. Nor does it mean new games for people waiting for them.

I have no disagreement with the 'at least 50% of the time' they're lower quality comment. But even still, that's a ton of games that are amazing, even if it's less than 50% that are even that good. Rather than trusting consoles to release good games (which doesn't really make sense), it's the developers that I put faith it. Bethesda, From Software and Ubisoft for instance, you can trust to usually put great games out. Well, the latter do most of the time, anyway. They need to satisfy both conditions - great at the start, and great at the end. Spreading out the same amount isn't going to work.

Looks fricking immense. Truly a great reason to get a next gen console.

General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion
Sheikah replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Aye, also Watch Dogs apparently isn't supposed to be breathtaking and it did so well. It's certainly food for thought for those saying new IP isn't exactly priority. I'd look forward to that thread. -
Based on the 3D Mario they've already done, I can guess those titles will either have a similar or lesser effect. It's Mario Kart and Zelda maybe that can really turn heads to a greater extent, and possibly their biggest card has been played. Now to see how long it will have an effect for.
-
Still gonna recommend AC4 to you if you get chance. I was (and still am) really blown away with how amazing it is on the PS4.
-
Yeah, Mario Kart was essentially their trump card that I think resonates the most still with the casual market. They've played a lot of their cards now, and I don't see the Wii U besting the GameCube.

I was reeling with the amount of backtracking/unnecessary travel in this game. That, and the incredibly douchey main character. The battle system was decent, but the story was pretty half-baked. Mind you, I think I've pretty much gone off Tales games these days. They're a bit too samey and feel more or less targeted at the teen demographic rather than people like me.
-
That's pretty sweet, because gunning for 3 stars in every race is soul destroyingly luck based at times. If I only need a star overall then that gives some leeway.

If you're in 6th or 7th then very likely items put you there, so I think it's fair items should help you a bit more to get you back up. :p

I recently bought Final Fantasy XIV on PS3 for less than £5 after hearing some very good things, which comes with a free upgrade to the PS4 version and the first month of subscription included... I wondered if anyone else would want to play this, perhaps starting together. I haven't even opened the game yet and the 30 days doesn't begin until you signup, and you have until the end of this year to do the free PS3 to PS4 upgrade. Anyone slightly interested? Maybe @Esequiel, if you haven't already?
-
Yep, you sure can.
-
Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised by this feature too. Pretty much all I ever want to do is play the game inserted.
-
Anyone with a PC, PS4, X1, PS3 or 360 could have bought it. That's most gamers. I'll bet you far more families have an Xbox or do PC gaming for their kids to have Minecraft and the like. Previous Wii U port sales show that there's not really any business there. Why pay £40 or whatever for a game that's now like 15-20 elsewhere? And when there are superior versions elsewhere?

What's the best Nintendo controller ever made?
Sheikah replied to Retro_Link's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Maybe lump Wavebird/gamecube together? I voted gamecube since I never actually had a Wavebird, but the basic controller is the same. Such an awesome controller! The most comfortable one to hold. I'm sure they could take the shape of this controller but implement a more modern button layout, somehow. It was a lot more comfortable than the Pro controller. -
I get that. But if you're very concerned about the cost to just play a couple of franchises, why not get a PS3? No subscription to play online, dirt cheap console, and lots of other titles you might enjoy based on what you've currently played on Wii U (particularly the ports). Makes more sense, no? The PS3 will no doubt be supported for a good number of years yet; the PS2 even got FIFA 14.

Nintendo need to jump on this and recognise this meme.

I thought this, at the start of the season. So Irish now. Which part of the GoT World Map is Ireland, exactly? :p
-
I thought a fair few released ports on the console? As for the others...you can't really blame them for predicting the situation sooner. Let's be honest, the Wii U situation isn't really down to the third parties. It is the console specification and the image, and Nintendo as a company, that caused the devs to flee.
