Yup, totally unsustainable. Imagine it getting worse than what it has been already with the Wii U.
-
So you think people would hate on Nintendo if it was made by them, just because it's Nintendo? Why can't you accept people's criticism of Nintendo is their own doing rather than thinking everything anti-Nintendo being some kind of conspiracy/hate campaign?
-
Nintendo is full of conserved sequel cash ins. Look at Smash, Mario Kart, Pokemon and NSMB - these games practically write themselves. The work was done long ago and concentrated into a formula that they can follow to make another. There's no way you can compare these sorts of games to the exciting new titles of independent studios like No Man's Sky. Nintendo fucking wishes they had that sort of creativity in them these days.

It also has a slot in the tablet for an expansion card to get even more space. Seems pretty damn good actually, reviews are all very positive and say it's sturdy.
-
This one might make it a bit easier 11.6 inch version of the same transformer tablet/laptop. £350, but also has a 500GB flash drive which is pretty darn good.

In which he argued that Nintendo's diverse lineup was RPGs, platformers, world creators, space shooters, co-op shooters, adventure games. ALL of which are already released/being released by non-Indies and Non-Nintendo devs on other consoles.
-
I find it ridiculous that he seems to think one company can provide more diversity than almost every other game dev company combined. Fucking arrogance really.

Mostly fantasy settings, you go around killing. #PigeonHolingIsForNoobs

Come on, most Nintendo games involve you doing the exact same thing! How can you group together such diverse games while putting Nintendo on a pedestal? Don't you see your blinding level of bias?
-
Sweet list there. Every time someone argues that Nintendo is the last bastion against the "grey shooters" of other consoles they instantly lose the argument. It's often the Nintendo loyalists who don't actually have a clue when it comes to the competition too. It must be a sad and lonely place, on a console where most of your retail output comes from one developer.

A lot of these standard gifts have the air of unofficial cheap Chinese tat about them. I wouldn't worry about this stuff, guys.

I do love a good joke at Christmas.

HAAAA! Fuck me. I think we'll have to leave it here, as that might be the most ridiculous/funny thing you have ever said to me. What could I possibly retort of the same calibre?

Your inability to justify in detail your comment about voice chat tipping the system very strongly indicate that you don't actually know what you're talking about. I don't think you have any technical knowledge relevant to this discussion at all. All you're doing is bringing up qualifications as a means to make yourself sound superior, which is really just a bit silly. People who know what they're talking about are generally plain to see through the comments and expertise they impart; they shouldn't really need to point out their qualifications in a 'trust me brah' manner. Well, it appears we are at an impasse, because you feel the need to win on the most minor level while ignoring the truth. You'd argue until you're blue in the face that the Wii U is advanced because it uses little power and has the gamepad. All the while ignoring the, quite clearly, outdated graphical power and networking/OS of the machine that is undoubtedly casting a huge negative over it. In terms of what a lot of people and devs want, it is substantially behind. Right, so my 15 year old PC is advanced, with its ancient (by modern standards) specs? It can run Dungeon Keeper!

lol, a bachelor of science. Sorry, but I'd wipe my arse with that; and I don't mean that in a disrespectful way to you and your achievement, purely in terms of what credibility it lends you in this discussion. Great achievement and all, but I wouldn't have claimed to have been a scientist after getting my BSc in biology back in 2008. In fact, a lot of what I learned back then has since become out of date (that's almost 7 years old now). Even with what I knew, what you learn at an undergraduate level is a very broad and somewhat superficial overview of a huge subject and doesn't really grant you the breadth of technical insight that you clearly think you have. This is such a stupid way to pass off the Wii U as being 'advanced'. Yes, it's efficient. That's because it is achieving a level of graphical fidelity achieved in a home console in 2005 but with modern parts. Now that's fine and all, if you're making something like a kettle. Because hey, guess what, all you ever need to do is boil water. If you can do that but use half the power of an old model and make it smaller then you've made a more advanced device. Doesn't work in this situation though - people want their console to be better than their last in terms of performance. You can't claim it's advanced in a meaningful way if what it achieves is, ultimately, old. Regarding games consoles: Specs do not equate whether or not technology is outdated, and it's ridiculously stupid to think otherwise. Serebii, 2014 Yeah, must be all those people buying the Wii U. Oh. Wait...

You don't have any credentials of any worth to this discussion. Cisco systems...certificate? Lulz. You run a Pokemon website dude, hardly qualifies you to talk about anything here in depth. I believe @kav82 and I are still asking for the exact breakdown from you of how much bandwidth the voice chat element would have tipped 'the internet connection' while also play Smash. Seeing as you were confident it would wreck it and all. lol, like, WHAT? I literally have a clue what you're saying. You look at the technology and think it's very advanced. Why? It's comparable to a console released in 2005! Don't go bringing the power efficiency of the unit into the equation here, as frankly nobody gives a crap! I couldn't care less if it's far more efficient - of course it will be given it just achieves what an almost 10 year old console does but with more modern parts. I shit you not, but I called that you'd mention efficiency before even reading this line. Oh HAI DER Mr literal. Shall we rephrase: the gamepad is not routinely used in an ingenuitive, game-changing way. Because this is clearly not implied to you, since using it for off-screen play qualifies as it being 'heavily used', despite that obviously not being what people expected or, really, wanted for the gamepad. Nintendo's policy is to not have OS level voice chat, or the ability for people to see message notifications on screen as they arrive. And to have an OS that runs like shit in terms of multitasking (watch you address only the last criticism). Of course Nintendo's online infrastructure has affected dev's perception of the console.
-
Jesus Christ, if you believe that's the only reason it failed, or even the major reason it failed, you are literally so far lost in terms of anyone being able to realistically help you find the truth.
-
Why on Earth would people want to play multiplatform games at the same level of graphical fidelity as they have been doing for 8 years. And pay hundreds of pounds to do so! Of course their machine being underpowered has had a massive effect on their third party support. In addition to their policies and online infrastructure...it's a fucking mess. Let's not forget this came out at £300 too... very poor value for money when you consider the PS4 was £350. Your rebuttal will no doubt be "but it's got the gamepad" as a reason why it's advanced, but that is a bit of a joke; it's underused and hardly cutting edge technology. If they release a console in a couple of years and the PS4/X1 goes on for an additional 2, the next Nintendo console is going to be behind again. And yes, specs do matter, because to have a chance of getting third party support they need to equal the competition in terms of hardware or better it.
-
Paging cloud cuckoo land! Yes, it is. It was outdated the moment it was released as Nintendo wanted a last gen spec, 'out of the way' box that pleased your mum rather than you. Nobody will support it and it's seen as weaker than the competition.
-
If Nintendo releases a console midway through the other console's life then it'll just be outdated again within a couple of years when the next consoles hit.

The new anime and manga thread! [Use Spoiler Tags!]

I finished watching Steins;Gate last night. Very compelling, I really enjoyed it. -
There's a few options here. You could go with a laptop/tablet combo where you can separate the screen from the keyboard and also use it like a tablet. That will set you back £250: Asus T100TA. The plus side to this is you can use full versions of office (it's Windows), it has an SSD for snappy loading, and you can use it on your lap like a tablet when you're not doing serious work. The downside is that the screen is only 10.1 inches. Then you've got Chromebooks which are super speedy, available in large screen sizes and are really cheap. They've also got great batteries. The downside is that they don't run Windows and Microsoft Office applications are not natively supported. You have to get app versions which aren't as good, but if your use of office applications isn't extensive then it should be ok. A great one is the 14 inch HP Chromebook 14 Tegra K1 for £230. Lastly are standard laptops. You can get them with SSDs too, and tend to be on the heavier/lower battery scale, but you can find ones with an SSD and larger screen sizes than 14 inch (the typical upper limit of chromebooks). Saying that, you've got more options with a standard laptop, being able to run Office applications (and pretty much any applications), and they're much more powerful. The G2 that Moogle mentioned is a good choice, but lacks any form of SSD (although has much more storage space). Note that throughout when I refer to SSDs, for this price they are usually eMMC, which are not as good as the SSDs people buy when building their own PCs. Still a good improvement though.

General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion
Sheikah replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in General Gaming Discussion
So what you're saying is, you're happy for them to make a game that will only look on par with a game made 10 years ago? Fuck that. Why gimp their ambitions? The best experience they can produce is on home console with the might of the PS4 behind it. Ok, arguably it's PC, but the audience for this kind of game isn't really there. Thank god they've already admitted that they're making it for some home console rather than handheld, as this really wouldn't belong there. Going back to my age old favourite example: Ni No Kuni PS3 That's on PS3, and look at that. It could be even more! -
Glad I preordered from them if that's the case. GAME may get a bad rep from some but on the few occasions I've used them they've always done good. Using the Nintendo Store never sounded like a good idea tbh. Edit: nvm, I preordered the special edition.

I agree. And out of all the people here, there's only one that is actually getting worked up about this. :p
