Yeah I was more surprised at playing it than I expected to be. I know it was hype and all but I worried it might have been unwarranted/not my tastes, but definitely been quite happy with the bits I've played so far! I think I'm like halfway through, only play it once every few weeks or so, usually just popping off a level or two after a hefty Splatoon sesh.
-
My mate recently brought me to the attention of the latter - sadly she simultaneously shattered my dreams by telling me who it is. It's all a rather good act, and the latter video apparently just a very good splicing! Also whilst we're on all these GTA vids - has this one been done already? I found it just gets increasingly better...
-
These two weeks are gonna be loooong if Mike keeps posting up his awesome levels and I keep finding other good vids for the game too! Don't actually remember the last time I anticipated a game this much.
-
Both look interesting! I enjoyed the Nozzlenose for a bit after it arrived; but it wasn't quite all round enough to see me through to keeping it for long. Bamboozler looks interesting! Is that a long shot but close explosion sort of thing?
-
My problem is it doesn't make it to a beep when the RAM's in, I took it out and turned it on to see if it'd make a noise so I know the motherboard's at least a little working. I'll have another look at it tomorrow and my mate's gonna come help too as he used to do a lot of PC/tech support stuff, thanks for your help so far and I'll keep you posted on verdicts/solutions!
-
He'd certainly fit well in Mario Maker amiibo functions depending on scale..
-
Is anyone reviewing this for N-Europe? I'm keen to hear some more thoughts/levels to keep my hype going for the next 2 weeks! EDIT: Kotaku posted an article about some semi/automatic levels coming out of the game(one looks familiar) but rather I'd like to give a shout to another vid they posted too - an automatic SMW rom hack done with some rhythm aspects to it too. I'm still super excited for SMM, but this is a testament to the idea that's been around for a long time;
-
Soz thought I'd replied to this and I never did! By my motherboard making noise I meant the beep codes it makes(one time an old family PC broke and I couldn't figure what it was, and then someone came and took the ram out - he said because it wasn't making any noise complaining it was definitely the motherboard, but in my case here - my motherboard doth protest without the RAM). Stupid question...but where would my activity light be? There's a blue light sort of thing on the front but it's a bit more of an illumination(terrible description) - I think that's the HDD indicator light as it tended to flicker during use but it's not the clearest due to its style. Re: PSU+fans - do I still need to try shorting it(sounds terrifying) because my fans are actually spinning up anyhow? My mate said he has a PSU tester and will give it a look at some point - I've just been too super busy to get round to seeing him when he's free so far. Also re:graphics - yeah, I've only got on board. I have considered if anyone I know possibly has a PCI graphics card I might try that and see if it works, depending on what my friend says about the PSU.

What was this thripped from?? /topmoddingskillz I've never fully paid and gone cinema on my own - but having had a cineworld card for a few years now I've been by myself to the cinema on a fair few occasions(and even had it all to myself, as well as doing a couple double-whammies) by myself - but I've somehow not done it much in the last year or so. Really should start going back to the cinema considering I'm paying for my card actually... Anyway! If you haven't - do! It's a slightly liberating experience given we're generally not keen to. Can't say I've ever been out to a restaurant by myself however - but I don't really go out to eat much anyhow so iono. Best is probably going for a pub lunch by my lonesome, but that's really not quite the same.
-
List of release dates appears to be here. Xenoblade on 4th Dec! Didn't think we'd see it until next year.
-
He was indeed the Nick on my friendslist! Keep an eye on the online thread @Nicktendo - wanna try and get a regular tuesday get together going.
-
I expected that'd be the case given Nintendo are Nintendo as you say - it's a shame it can't be shared between friends with the sounds at least as tbh that's probably the better application for it(local will be amusing, I guess, but I feel we're increasingly moving away from local gameplay). I think the silly giant bomb usage is a great example of it though - simple yet amusing, not particularly offensive and no major deal really.
-
I'm sad to say I've already considered the tasteless levels that could, and quite possibly would, be made. I'm really hoping it won't happen though.
-
Just got 2/5 plays on the new stage - i definitely bloody like it! Really open and so much wall inking! A great mechanic that is really used to the max here. Cant wait to get my inkbrush out on this one at some point...
-
Shame to hear that. No worries, I genuinely really enjoyed seeing them! I wonder on my patience levels to not give up(ofc it looks easy when you do it...you know the stage!). Re: the non-spawns - I recall a couple times when it's happened in SMW(does it happen in a particular mode/style btw?) and you could sometimes managed to get it to happen by running back then forward a bit - obvs it affects the aesthetic of your level but you might have to try and account for the bug and let the player do that somehow? Ofc it's really shitty either way, as the player might not realise something's missing! Ah! Didn't consider the wall jumps, right you are. I considered you might pop an invisible block down there or so though. The pipe idea to counter the losses makes sense too. Won't be able to watch the latest level til I'm home again later, I look forward to it!

Hype post right here bros. Honestly - I don't think I'd create much but seeing these creations of yours in a game series I've loved so much is absolutely fucking excellent. They're all great looking levels! Doesn't have to be bastard hard to be good! How long would you say you spent on each of them? Very much enjoyed that last level you made there with the Bowser battle - something new, something challenging, great stuff. Love the Winged Thwomp mechanic in it. I'm gonna be a mario appreciator more than a mario maker I think, just absolutely love seeing the fact you can make all this from scratch with a toolbox. One thing I got to wondering from a couple moments in those levels though, and it isn't necessarily something new but can be frustrating - can you end up with timeout traps? You have to complete your own level to finish it, but for example in your first level what happens if you fall between the tall pipes and can't jump out? As a creator*, you know never to do it and so can finish the level and thus publish it - but as a player if you fall in there you're basically fucked(I guess similar with the hover hat thingy, if you lose it) - I'm presuming there's a 'quit' option rather than waiting for timeouts as I did as a kid in Mario; but it was something frustrating when I was playing a level when I was younger and I felt absolutely stuck to the point of waiting for timeout. Small as I guess a quit/retry option immediately negates the frustration, but just...hmm. Got curious then solved my own issue. Carry on, nothing to see here! *In balance, a good creator would see these gaps/flaws and design an out but I highly doubt everyone out there will consider this.

So I managed to play a bit before the 7 mark yesterday - it had rainmaker on Arowana Mall and Walleye Warehouse, Turf wars on Saltspray and Kelp Dome. Then, at 7, though I couldn't play I still had it on and checked the 'rotation' - it was...more rainmaker! Whilst I can't recall which was which - the stage choices had become? Arowana Mall, Walleye Warehouse, Saltspray Rig and Blackbelly Skatepark iirc. I understand that with anything 'random' this can occur, but wow. I actually did a triple take as I thought something was up and my game glitched/didn't update itself properly. No big issue for me, but for anyone after some variety...tough luck! They really need to open up the options some time soon imo - 3 stage rotations or a stage voting system. Possibly mode voting/rotation system too - so you can play any of the special modes in ranked/non-ranked?

So the fucker was working fine last thursday(I don't turn it on often tbh with you, but my laptop plex was slow so HDMI'd out the PC as it's in the corner of the living room) - can't recall if it crashed and I had to hodl the power button to turn it off or what(it's an ACER m3400 running windows 7 btw, if that matters at all). Anyhow tried turning on today - my samsung switches to the HDMI which it won't if it's receiving absolutely nothing, but the screen is blank and says there's no signal. I opened it up, disconnected verything but power and took the RAM out - the motherboard's screaming so it seems it isn't that. Ram back in, mouse+keyboard back in, VGA out back in(switched in case it'd work better than HDMI for some weird reason, no joy) - then tried turning it on again. Still the same thing, but; Now I notice it makes that tick that PCs make up start up, but repeatedly. Isn't the hard drive as I disconnected that and it kept happening - is it something on the motherboard? What, if it is, is it? Or what else could it be? Power issue? PC didn't cost a lot but I like it and ideally I'd like to be able to fix it as cheap/free as possible. If the options for doing so are beyond a mark I'll probs just grab another cheap PC in its place, but I really fucking love this one cos it has a front loading 3.5inch bay and it's kinda cool for swapping the two storage HDDs i have in and out.

I have and I guess can be a somewhat dangerous driver, having had a few near misses, but I think I'm not the worst(my peers will inform you otherwise, though I tend to be worse with passengers which is annoyingly re-inforcing!). On the roundabout thing; someone didn't give way to me today and went ahead...also on to my turning. To his credit, he was rather quite respectful of the upcoming 20mph limit...both before and well beyond the 20mph zone. Home from work time. Annoying, and imo no conducive. Another time, about a month or two ago - I ended up behind the car that was coming from the right of me. As you would on a roundabout. Given I gave way to my right. I didn't stop or slow too much as it's open, but I didn't have to break or anything and actually transitioned in quite smoothly behind the car that came from my right. However, for him, I think it was a bit too smooth and he must have thought I was somehow actually gonna t-bone him on my entrance(despite not being close enough and he didn't have to swerve or owt) because for the next little stretch(and it took me a while to realise) he seemed to be having a really hard go at flipping me off and braking hard in front of me etc from inside his car. Honestly was so baffled how someone could be so annoyed at...someone giving way to them on a roundabout. I can't have not, as I was behind him, so I'm still a little confused to date. He was REALLY going for it in his car towards me though, I didn't even think it was at me at first because I just couldn't fathom how outraged someone could be over the road working as it should! I was very bad with a roundabout once though - there's a couple small ones(mini and not mini) I'm familiar with, and I half-foolishly get into the habit of hitting them hard knowing that whatever's at my right has to stop a bit more to see what's at their right etc. One time though someone else had a very similar idea about THEIR right, and was coming from my right. I was totally in the wrong, but fortunately fast enough they didn't hit me, despite them being fast too. Don't think I've hit any as hard since. There's a strange irony in I recall now on the same roundabout in my lessons on a mock test I got failed for my right not giving way to their right, and assuming they would have etc. Bloody roundabouts. Reminds me of what Charlie said as well - not relying on people/assuming they're a dickhead etc. - had a few close calls of my own from people not using/leaving signals on(and occasionally done the same myself, but usually to the same extent).

WOW. Killed the last hourish playing so i dont get into anything that i miss the chance of rainmaker in the 'rotation'. its rotated from splat zones tooo....Splat zones, yaaaaay! -.- Will i ever be able to play frickin rainmaker without jeopardising my sleep/having to co-ordinate via a forum??? Bloody ridic. 8 hours of splat zones...bloody ridic!!! They need to get an english site up at the least where you can check what the next 24-48hrs(or even the week) is doing or something cos this is really damn annoying. this game man. this game.
-
I can't deny this game has still got my pretty hooked up - ended up doing a casual 3-4 hours or so on Monday and maybe another 2 yesterday but damn, it's definitely got issues. I don't know if I'd play it as much if I wasn't watching something at the same time(ie sat just for Splatoon). Played with @Pestneb and @are1981 last night in some tri-squad battles(when we could actually organise it via the forum) - balancing in 3 vs 4 or generally unbalanced matches is terrible. The fact it seems to so often put you against a 4 alone is bad(happened to use last week or so too) but you can just stand absolutely no chance due to the numbers advantage. I don't see why tri-squads can't mix with regular for an extra in such cases. We later did do some 2vs1 privates and I tried to balance by not using super jumps which sorta worked - but the balancing is still something they should have considered and put into the game. Maybe automatic tenacity(for some reason I feel they do already?), faster respawns and/or squid jumps for the lesser numbered team - there's all sorts of good possibilities to even the field that it feels a real oversight's been made! On the tenacity front - I had it as a main ability on one item and frankly found it a bit shit given the absolute beasting of the opposing team; definitely didn't feel like it was balancing much. I wasn't even sure it was working a couple times? Another thing - I don't know why squads have to be bloody number specific. If Pestneb and Are are in a twin squad together - I have no way of knowing or seeing this. They, I think, appear 'open' for the few seconds between matches but joining is futile. Other than external means - such as here - it is very hard and frustrating to organise things. Private matches too - we weren't sure who was on etc. to let them know we were going in to friends, as you can't see the friendlist unless you back out of the online bits to the mode selection. Even then, you can't send people who are splatooning/halfway through a match even some sort of message to say you're gonna be in friends for them to check or join - given that Splatoon ends up with you in matches, co-ordinating in the gaps without holding things up is hard enough as it is, and the system's interfacing really should be a lot better to account for this. There were two other people on when I first started - but how at any point do I let them know the 3 of us are gonna be in private if they're interested? So yeah. Some real annoying things despite the update and new content. I also feel that despite the wealth of content the 'rotation' needs adjusting - despite those 6-7 hours I've put in over the last few days I've only managed about 20 minutes of Rainmaker in genuine ranked mode due to it not being in the 7-11 mark. //raantrantrant being kicked out of work would rant more grr

I hear ya on that. Definitely want the content without the figures. I only own two other amiibos - a Tink and a Mario(which I didn't pay for). I got them/Tink mostly for the Smash functionality, rather than the figures themselves. I guess I kind of like the idea in Smash, especially given the heritage in it of trophies anyway, so having it as an Amiibo figure there feels a bit more suited than a bit of DLC or a card. Would I still have gotten a card with the same functionality for quid or two though? Probably yes - and I'm reluctant to even buy the DLC characters! I have however given two people Amiibo as presents, one of whom doesn't own a WiiU or N3DS at all, and one who has a WiiU+smash.
-
Wow. Yeah. That's totally not on at all. Ongoing discussions aside - that's completely unnecessary.

I already spoke to you about this before - why are you quoting something I haven't said as if I've said it? I'll need to research more on that link, and what Nintendo use, then consider the cost aspect. However a greater(and rhetorical, no need to actually argue this point) parallel to what I was originally saying would be; 'People':Omg 8gb(or even 32, lel) is too small for a console why don't they have more like 500GB or something! You: Because that's really expensive for flash memory and people just don't understand that. It's not Nintendo's fault. Me: Then why use flash memory in the first place, because that's kinda Nintendo's choice and thereby their fault. My issue is them choosing a tech knowing they'd be limited, be that by cost, ability, combination etc. and it apparently being expected for the consumer to understand and take responsibility for these limitations. Amiibo+NFC is a bit unique in that it's something new and not industry standard/expected, whereas things like storage, media, online capabilities etc are more expected as it is. However if pioneering some new idea - try to make it something you've got the resources to support the scope of. Has applied to Amiibo on more than just the NFC front, too.

Both great games, though I'd definitely say to consider adding Coup to the roster if you enjoyed that too! Think it's sub-£20 usually. Tis the one we played on Saturday morning with the two cards and bluffs etc.
