  1. Hahahaha, I was sposed to go up london with a mate but fixed my internet and had to get it all working then decided not to bother. I rang my mate yesterday to see how it was, and he told me about that, he was well dissappointed with the chain chomp costume though, said it was shit and basically just bin bags, was it really? EDIT:Scratch that, just seen the pic and it's better than I expected.
  2. Tempted indeed! I was hoping for something less than £50, but I doubt that's gonna be likely, my only other options would be to try and import some cheap. When I bought my current trainers I was over in NY, and got both for like $90 in an offer which worked out proper bargain. My dad and sis are going at the end of the month, so I might hold out and ask them to try and get me some, though I can imagine them not being to my taste if I leave it to them.
  3. Nahhh mate, gold ftw!
  4. I remember having some 10 metre headphones when we were younger, but you're probably gonna have more luck finding some sort of extension like Sanchez said. Either that or get a load of old broken ones and make your own, but I'd know nothing about that, except that I have like 6 pairs of broken earphones.
  5. Nah not for me, I'm looking for something under £50 which'll let me watch my .avi files on my TV, I think I'm gonna buy one of these, cos there's only 8 left and I get a feeling it might be secret clearance stock. EDIT: I've bought it. If it doesn't play my files off the disc, I'm gonna try and return it as not doing what it says.
  6. Excuse the old bump, but now I'm back on the internet I'm still quite interested in a dvd player what could play .avi(DivX/XviD) files off, and wondering if anyone's actually found one that's good for it? I'm a little dissappointed to hear about this one turning out crap I found this one, that says it's DivX 6 compatible, but doesn't explicitly say it'll play .avi files off a disc? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Toshiba-SD270E-Multi-region-Capable-Progressive/dp/tech-data/B000NY1E7Q/ref=de_a_smtd?ie=UTF8&qid=1195307533&sr=8-1 Nevermind, there's actually a review by someone who had the pixmania one and found it terrible, then tried this with DivX files. If it plays DivX files, it'll play XviD, right?
  7. Haha, a good question, I couldn't work out any way to find out, due to everything in the entry being written in whatever it is, I can't read it or figure out any way to try searching for it. I guess I should have mentioned that I'm running Vista, if it helps at all.
  8. I need some new trainers, namely some white ones, where can I get a cheap pair of nice looking white trainers? I might take a picture of my current ones later, but they're both basically Reebok Classics.
  9. If you want your girlfriend to end up ex-, then sure! If she already is, then go for it! Same for her sister, and her mum actually. Never go for a mate's girl though, that's just bastardly. Do his mum, but you gotta make sure he never ever finds out. As for cousins, they say anything outside of 2nd generation is all right, but I'd keep it a bit quiet anyway. This is something interesting that I was thinking about last night, is it weird if you fancy your mate's sister, but realise she looks quite alot like your mate(you know, as brothers and sisters do)?
  10. What sort of self respecting game website did not have a front page birthday wish for The Creator himself?? It was Shigsy's birthday yesterday!
  11. I forget why, but the other day I was in the system config for some reason, and I came across this sitting at the bottom. I have absolutely no idea what it is, and I've got no idea what it says or what it could be. Anyone know what I can do about it?
  12. He might not be on cable, cos they do offer it to people in non-cable areas with a BT line(the 8Meg offer is only for BT people, it's either 2, 4 or 20 otherwise) I dunno at which point it runs over cable or if it does at all if it goes through a BT line. EDIT: Looks like you aren't the only one with problems Ash, I stumbled across this coincidentally. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=560009
  13. Did they happen to mention what 'up to' actually entails? I really want to know if it has any sort of specific definition from an independant regulator or if ISPs can just use it willy nilly. I've just done a test on my brand newly setup virginmedia 20Mbps line and it was like 11000ish, which was nice to know. EDIT:That was on speedtest.net, the gadgetshow site gives me 13950 for d/l, 738 for u/l. Turns out I was wrong about my wireless too.
  14. What if there were burrs?
  15. That is so sucky, I'd go totally mental if I got robbed. Though I also feel like being the annoying voice of reason and saying that you guys should have had some insurance. Really sorry to hear about that.
  16. Hmm, you're not filling me with much confidence over the fact we've just taken bband with VM. How fast is it supposed to be, and are you running it through an actual cable line or a BT line? The results should in theory be in line with the speed of the package you're sposed to be getting, I'd complain if they were less than 75% of that, though I'm a little iffy on the grounds of what is acceptable when they say 'upto XX Mbps'. I dunno how you can monitor the usage on a shared connection, Virgin recommend using DUMeter to monitor usage on their page, but I'd have thought that monitors a single connection. The only other idea I would have is to look at WAN traffic on the router's log, though I dunno how packets translate into data and if it's always the same. VM have a 'traffic shaping' policy which I linked to in my other thread, basically if you exceed a certain amount of data(relative to what package you have) between 4pm and 12am(their 'peak time'), then they'll slap a limit on it for four hours.
  17. Is AVG better than avast! antivirus?
  18. Ok, I have another question along similar lines only not quite. I dunno if anyone would know, and it's probably more law related than anything else, but when companies say that something is 'upto XX Mbps' what criteria has to be met for that to be claimed? Like...whats to stop them giving you a 20Mbps speed for like a minute, and then you get 5Mpbs forever more elsewise?
  19. They bought out blueyonder too? Wow, they're just big buggering buyouters! Seems like it's gonna be the way to go, cos otherwise we're looking at a £125 connection fee back to BT.
  20. I see, thanks for the info. I figured along the same lines after I stopped to think about it, and it's gonna cost us £125 to get BT connected(when we changed to bellcablemedia way back in the day the engineer who did it cut the line, so we could connect it ourselves but apparently you can be fined a grand for interfering with their lines). We'd be likely to use BT for phone too, we're a bit iffed by virgin's prices and plans so it's all sort of come to a head, it's just trying to make sure we make the right choice. :S EDIT:Hmm...reading about their traffic management policies, they sound a bit gay.
  21. As long as anyone who is 16 at the time of passing the law is exempt from it, then I think they should(why 16 and not 18 you ask? Because it's really gonna piss off some people who are like 17 and 364 days old, so it's just like an extended window not to piss people off too much).
  22. I dunno if anyone would know, but all google gets me is a ton of bband comparison sites and I'm short for time in the library to trundle through them all. Basically I've just been majorly buggered over and informed by AOL, having had no internet access from them for two months due to some error, that they have absolutely no idea what the hell my problem could be and the only way to solve it would be to totally disconnect me from their service then reconnect me as a new customer...BUT apparently they no longer take people who are on cable lines(such as myself, given we have ntl phone which is now VM) and because of that and the two companies it is just a total impossibility to be reconnected. However, I'm wondering - Is there actually any company out there other than VM themselves who offer broadband over a cable line at a good rate? Our options are to get VM Bband, or get a BT line and have a whole extra set of options then, though the latter is likely to be most costly time and moneywise.
  23. If the disciplinary steps along the way(infractions, the new yellow/red/ban system) were much clearer to everyone, ie they're announced in a board or show up in profiles, then other members would see as things escalate, and thus won't be able to be complaining when someone who's constantly been breaking rules is banned, cos they'll have seen them being warned and punished along the way. I am also in favour of temp bans, cos I think they'd be pretty effective, but then you say it's a hassle for you to do so it's gonna be putting you out. On a side note, even though I wasn't here, I think ant and harribo should be unbanned but given two red cards. A post should be made when someone's banned as well, with a reason for it. (i stole most of those ideas from another forum)
  24. I'd stick 10mil in the highest sort of interest accounts that I can, and just live off the interest gained on it after a year. £100,000 of the interest would be for my parents each year. While I wait for the interest to accumulate I'd spend the other 5million lavishly, on my parents, family, holidays, friends, I'd invest in my mate's band, go visiting mates around the country, finish my degree then get a nice sizeable house and two cars(one flash, one not so flash) and then not bother to work another day in my life. Also I'd consider getting a vault like scrooge mcduck's built into my house, so I could do a similar money bath sort of thing. With notes of course, not coins. I might buy a bag of diamonds too, just for the hell of it!
  25. I think jayseven's description of love is pretty much in line with my idea of it. I'd say it's better to have loved and lost than not at all, just to have at least experienced its immense feeling once. I like it as a description of love as well cos it gives room for people of any age to love, rather than when older people will tell younger people that they're too young to know what love is.
