Haha yeah that's pretty cack(I don't mind it having it as such a childhood memory) but I was referring more to some of the level music :p Very smooth/chill stuff generally, bit of funk later in the jungle iirc, but I just think back and think how serene a game it was. I'm starting to wonder if it might be just the sort of game to play whilst under the influence... *goes to find N64 and Yoshi's Story* EDIT: What guts me a bit is I actually had a proper little tear-off guide for the game that came with ONM well back in the day - never used it much because I didn't want to at the time but I kinda wish I had it now! I remember it had a space for the secret letter that was in each level and you could fill the boxes in slowly and put together the big message eventually!

Not watched the vids yet but seeing reference to the N64 made me think of an old game that I think a lot of Nintendo people may have not bothered with - Yoshi's Story. Sure, it was no Yoshi's Island, and on the surface of it was a very kiddy Nintendo game that was super easy to complete. However, despite that initial shallow appearance, there was actually a large number of optionals etc in the game and ways you could opt to play it with the scoring system that actually gave it a strange amount of depth. Tbh just posting about it now makes me want to try and attempt one day to properly 100% it; something I never even tried because the never forced or encouraged me to, particularly. Also yeah it is super cutesy and kiddy but I actually really appreciate the style when I think about it - still rather unique. Had some great audio for the settings in it too.

Just realised they limit the engraving to a poxy 14 characters so Bum's looking the most likely! Bugger that. Still may have a opening message though at least. If it had more space I was either gonna go with a quote I'd like, a good dumbledore quote, a zenyatta quote, or just something silly and meme-esque. Bit gutted to find out it's only 14 characters though, what the hell are you gonna do with that! (other than Bum, of course :p)

Wow. Expected Red and Blue to be absolutely smashing the crap out of this poll! I do like symmetry and stuff but I also like vibrancy like that, just makes it feel so much more lively.
-
Hey! I already suggested that ages back! Still the arguments have since been made re: conversions across all the territories - are they expecting those economies to all be negatively affected just by us and the GBP that much?

So! For those who've seen my other bumped thread - need a new phone and considering the Moto G. Sexual Chocolate pointed out that you can actually get it slightly customised from Motorola themselves including a personalised message on boot for free, and for a fiver an engraving on the back of it. Tbh I'm tempted even thought it's completely frivolous and unnecessary - but it got me to thinking what I should/would put on it. Then it got me to thinking what would YOU put on it?? What would you put on your own phone, if you could? I'm currently thinking about whether I wanna go for something serious like a famous quote or something a bit more silly like a meme-related thing. I feel a bit of a pompous dick putting something serious on it even though it's really just for me, but I also think it's silly putting something too frivolous on it too! So essentially I'm definitely gonna do one or the other. I just don't know which yet! So, tl;dr - if you could engrave a sentence or something on the back of your phone for a fiver - what would you go for? (inb4 you wouldn't cos it's silly - that's exactly the point!)
-
Couldn't find as much on it nor at a price I was happy with now I've got the Moto G in my head! Don't mind rooting etc at all - what do you like about it as a phone? As time goes on I'm increasingly settling on the standard Moto G4. Very tempted by the customisable options if they had the bloody wood in(you weren't wrong @Sexual Chocolate, the Style's options are very nice!) and might engrave it for chuckles too - which is actually about to become a thread topic!
-
Happy birthday Flinky! Are you/have you celebrated? Most importantly...have you got new birthday games??
-
Happy birthday to you both! But especially Glen-i. (jk dr.boob ilu2)

Thanks again Chocolate! I'm working my way through reviews of various but yeah - I think price vs features will put me either in the Moto G4 Play camp(~£115) or maybe I'll find a way to make a bit of extra cash to specifically bump up to the regular G4 for the £160. Both apparently are going to get Nougat, so no difference there. I don't NEED extra power - but it'd be nice to just future proof the thing a bit. I've also been perusing MoneySavingExpert and a company are doing a mental deal through BroadbandChoices - £6 a month for 2GB data and unlimited texts/minutes all subject to fair usage but allowing tethering! http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/phones/cheap-sim-only-contracts - very new company, mixed but admittedly limited feedback so far. Not looking fantastic though. Thinking with that plus the G4 regular it'd work out a pretty decent ~13ish quid a month over 2 years. Waiting on a few folks to get back to me to buy some time or find other deals - but really that's looking quite likely for me right now! EDIT: Just looked and that MotoMaker is actually pretty interesting - especially with a tenner to bring it down to the Amazon price! Be nice having a few custom touches on a phone, what service! Just gutted Wood backing is out of stock atm, love that sort of look on tech

Also on an unrelated note - has anyone ever looked into or know much about essentially cloning a phone? Like if I replaced my current(albeit dead, so maybe a limiting factor) phone with an exact same phone/model - is there any way to essentially clone the thing over to the new one? I know someone who has the exact same phone but doesn't use it; it tempts me for the cheapness.

Moto G seems to be the recommendation, and £160's a pretty decent one especially with a rolling £9 for that! You may have sold me, man! My only two questions would be - will a Moto G be network locked(in case I decide to stop the rolling contract at some point) and is it easy enough to root/change firmware on if I wanted? It's unlikely I would, but just for future maybe. Also! On the firmware note - what versions it come with and what's the latest planned? I've heard nice things about Marshmallow but not had it myself. Don't worry if you haven't answers off the top of your head - I'll be googling and researching more into this shortly!

Big bump - almost a year later! Phone seems to have finally given up the ghost and won't charge/turn on. Got a few old ones to run things in the meantime, but one rinses itself to death if I use anything more than 2G or Wifi and the other's just a gammy cracked screen and kinda old. What's folks' recommendations on a budget-esque handset atm? Thinking maybe £200ish at my upper limit - or I'd consider a contract if it's a good deal(currently PAYG giffgaff £10 a month for unlimited texts, 500mins that I never use, and 1GB data). A 2 year deal on something like that with a phone'd at my budget'd come out about £440 which'd be ok if it's a much better phone than that price(unlikely I imagine? I've never had a contract phone). I guess that's a contract at around £18 a month for 2 years.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Wii U / Switch
Rummy replied to darkjak's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I dunno, I did a pretty crazy thing of using the English language properly there to put across my meaning. I'm not sure I understand how you totally got what I was trying to say! It's almost like I articulated myself and everything, and the fault is in your excellent and beyond average expectation reading comprehension! -
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Wii U / Switch

That'd do little more than disenfranchise the old school fans even further, I suspect. Would definitely put me off more, at least! Erm...who was all of this we that were supposedly worried?! I certainly didn't think either of those things! -
This is the thing - I don't think they will. I don't think they can really afford to. I think they'll slowly wait out the market and trickle feed for a higher margin over a smaller number of units. As you say - Wii U never really got much of an official cut; it seemed to be good deals about due to retailers dropping it instead. I've still not seen a WiiU premium for £190 or less new.
-
I really hope you're right Pestneb. It's the only last light I can see for them/it. I find it increasingly difficult to make much sense of this whole thing the more I think about it. EDIT: Not related to the above but in terms of phones for voice chat - they should at least have had some fkin sense to pack a headset in with Switch for customers who don't have one. The PS4 standard headset is actually pretty great - something just like that would have been fine and will piss less people off when they find out they have to use their phone for voice chat and online etc.
-
You say this and, whilst I can in one way agree, I find that I have to point out one great thing that bothered me about Wii U. I don't feel Nintendo did a good enough job of supporting their own touted asymmetrical experiences and gamepad approach. I, to date, don't think I've seen anything I felt make a greater use of the gamepad and asymmetrical gaming than Nintendoland - a bloody launch title for it. Sure they made some good and Nintendo-esque games for the system - but I don't feel any really utilised the gamepad appraoch that I'd essentially been sold the system on and bought into. Given they seem to be going for a bit of a gimmicky thing with the JoyCons but I don't believe the Switch is going to do as well as they expect, I don't have much faith in them this time either.
-
For someone who likes to highlight other people's supposed hyperbole so often - you seem rather cavalier about doing so yourself. GBP still has a lot of potential to be much, much more fucked up. Don't get me wrong, global market/economy and knock on from things like the EU/Brexit/maybe even Trump will affect prices - but it's not just affecting prices for Nintendo. At the price it is now, I can see the Switch ended up as bad as if not worse than the Wii U. You NEED the system to get a decent install base as any foundation - and with a price so many seem to be finding prohibitive, everything else will subsequently fall down around it. I'm presuming the game being discussed above is 1,2, Switch? Looks like it'd be a fun little thing - but feels from a time gone by and not something I'm really too fussed with for the Switch's base price, and especially not if it's some full priced retail additional. EDIT: Seems I was a page or two behind, by game above I meant Glen-I's gif of a dude eating a sandwich thing.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Wii U / Switch
Rummy replied to darkjak's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I'm sure it was confirmed as 3/3 with Switch version?? Yet as I say that I can't recall how/why I think that. Sure it was in the reveal/trailer from the conference? OR have I and others just accepted it as implied? Retailers certainly seem to be saying 3/3. Btw what's folks' thoughts on the voice chat? Had one or two people ask me and I've seen some people getting upset - I personally don't mind at all if it helps the story(and I like the voices I've heard so far) as long as Link and some of the other more expected characters don't start talking too much. -
If Nintendo charge to play online with the NX, would you pay?
Rummy replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I dislike having to use my phone, and rinse its battery, for such stuff. I also am completely lacking in my 'earbuds that you use for your standard mobile device' so he can fuck off there too. Basically online IS as bad as some of us were reading it; and to me that isn't really a service I'm keen on right now on a console that I'd be paying that much money for. Just isn't good enough - so I won't. -
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Wii U / Switch
Rummy replied to darkjak's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Given the alternative and its cost, I'll still take it. It's not like we're not already aware that the Wii U can be a bit crap(Lego City loads, anyone?) - but it's a real grand shame Nintendo would let this happen with such a flagship title like Zelda. I think I'm gonna avoid watching/reading too much about it now. It's only 7 weeks away, I've got it pre-ordered with Amazon(worried about stock with Switch coming) and would suggest others who want a Wii U copy do the same just in case. Also it'll kinda show Nintendo/retailers that Switch ain't doing it for a number of fans. -
Good thread mr-paul - was tempted to do one myself! Personally price and apparent online functionality just isn't good enough for me, so I won't be getting one. I like the console and the idea - but not what it's offering for its price at the moment.
-
Looked pretty vibrant and fun to me; very Nintendo-esque. Can't say I saw lots of value in it though - I presume it's not aiming to be a huge title?
