  1. That's the one! There's a thread with a few more bits and vids in it over in General Gaming - hadn't realised it was active just today!
  2. I think I've ended up with a few things from them via eBay, Amazon, and Rakuten/Play.com when they still had the marketplace. I wasn't intentionally shopping with them per se so I noticed the repeated coincidence - but they fulfilled my orders fine each time. Must admit that was a few years back now too - anything could have changed by now but I'd personally be happy to give them a crack again if they had what I wanted at a good price. EDIT: Tell a lie; just looked at their site and I do believe I ended up buying that Pokemon quote book from there just before Xmas. Came quicker than I expected considering it was at my parents on Xmas day, and I think I only ordered it like a week or so before! Was quite shocked by that(and annoyed, as it was too late to give to anyone :p, but that's not anyone's fault but mine). EDITEDIT: Got excited seeing posts here! Thought it was out already/sooner than Feb Not that I'm going to buy it any time soon but I wanna see more of the inside so I can decide whether it's gonna be something I pick up!
  3. I have always loved how much work Nintendo put into the art around some of their games. The joys of little pictures etc in instruction manuals as a kid, or indeed scattered throughout Prima guides - I still do this day recall the Oracle/Seasons guide and a lot of the realisations of the characters not limited to the game's graphics/approach etc. I was hoping for a bit more of it over the ages in Hyrule Historia, but I do recall General Gaming having a thread about another art book out at some point. Very tempted by it, especially if it's gonna have more of stuff like this!
  4. I think the problem for me, and a few others I've spoken to from here and elsehwhere, is that it annoyingly ISN'T as black and white as saying you either you want it or you don't. Ofc, bottom line it can come down to that - but nothing's ever really that clear cut, is it? Personally I like the idea of the system, I like the look of it and I like some of what it's doing. At the same time however - there are things I dislike and reasons I don't want it. Notably the online approach, lack of software appealing to myself at launch, and ofc - the price and what we're getting for it. It personally, at that price with what it's offering, is not for me on launch right now. But that still doesn't mean that I don't want the thing. I do want one, and at the moment think I may eventually end up with one, but as said for what it's offering at the price it's offering(plus the price of additionals etc) I'm not keen to get involved just yet.
  5. Also at GAME....@nekunando (sorry, you're at least the second person to mention it when it's already been mentioned and also as if it hadn't been, so I couldn't resist the ol' classic :p) On the serious note if they're going out the gate with a view for a falling manufacturing cost over time (not surprised as I still very much thing they stung themselves hard with Wii U on a couple of fronts regarding this) then it's a very good sign for both them and us. Iirc PS4 and XBone(not meaning to bring them up for an argument) both went for more off the shelf sort of parts for a similar sort of reason(plus ease of development too I imagine) and it's surely done them quite well? It gives a lot more wiggle room to work with if the console doesn't initially take off; and more potential to try and turn it around. Unrelated - here's a thing on the online/communication/VC whatevers - my phone broke yesterday. What happens if that happens to me when I've got a Switch? No more online/voice chat for me until I get my phone sorted? Even worse that a broken phone is already losing me a number of communication channels - the fact I would also lose said communication on my console too would probably suck! If anyone's abusing us here - it's definitely Nintendo That bad girlfriend you just can't stop caring about! Isn't the thing actually still even launching without an officially defined online service? That's due to come later?
  6. Not really Switch related but the pound's climbed quite nicely against the dollar in the last few hours following Theresa May's brexit speech/address thing - not saying it's going to indicate much but if we end up Brexiting/finalising Brexit this year and ended up with a stronger pound again it could be a good potential to expect a price drop; especially if the speculations on future proofing against negative shifts is true!
  7. A very good question but also one of my Switch issues - sometimes if I know I'm settling in for a bit of a PS4 sesh I might pop my phone on charge if it's low - sometimes upstairs or sometimes nearby if I'm expecting communications; but still it isn't exactly within arms reach and I won't check it too much/reply to stuff until I'm done gaming. I know a few times I've got gone to the PS4 and realise I've left my phone in another room then just thought I can't be arsed to go get it as I'm about to hit up gamez! With PSN I can message from there if I'm super lazy - and ofc that has another added bonus of the phone app so even if I'm on my PS4 but NOT near my phone, I can essentially almost still message a majority of my friend who may not be at their PS4 but at their phones, if that makes sense!
  8. Personally I don't like this argument at all. It's like saying all you've been doing for the past 30 years is 'breathing' or 'getting older'. It's too fundamental. Technology improves - it gets more powerful. That's essentially one of the things you can guarantee about it. Even Nintendo, believe it or not, are getting more 'powerful' with each iteration. The question is - what are you doing with it? Ok, Nintendo opt to innovate - but why innovate if not enough people want it? Why not go harder on power to give yourself more options along the traditional lines that folks might want? Here's just a couple examples of what Sony did with their 'more power' on PS4 over PS3 imo; -A smooth and rather slick UI/OS. One you can drop easily into and out of even whilst playing a game(that's right, very rarely am I getting my crossed out home icon when I hit my PS button) -System level party and voice chat etc. -Constantly recording your last X minutes of gameplay - so you can save and share those awesome moments you didn't see coming without having to be pre-prepared. Note that to save this is pretty much a two button press and takes pretty much no time. -Running multiple applications at a time - ie similar to above, I can 'suspend' my game and go into the capture gallery to check out/rename my save I just made, then get back into my game within a few minutes etc. Same for browser, store and a few other bits iirc. Stuck on a game and nothing to look up a guide? Pop onto the internet browser and have a quick peep on GameFAQs or something - get your answer and be back on your game! -Rest Mode/pushed downloads. Knowing there's a big patch coming to a game but I wanna play as soon as I get in - only to find I'm then waiting an hour for it to download as everyone's doing the same. Rest mode fixes that for me - it's already downloaded by time I get home! Same if I really fancy something off the store - I can log in at work, buy it, and push it over to the PS4 - it's not 100% but usually it's all done and downloaded ready to play by time I would get home. That's just a couple things that spring to mind. Those things need the power that the system can offer. I like the Switch, don't get me wrong, but I just can't find a justification of it at that price. How old is the PS4's hardware? How much should hardware and tech have moved on by now; if we look at the trend of it improving generally at an exponential rate? The Switch is MORE expensive than the PS4 currently is, but I feel personally as if it's less powerful. I can't square that up in my mind! I can't rationally justify it - I realise arguments may be made on JoyCon tech, screen etc - but the thing is those are the choices Nintendo are making; but not necessarily the choices that consumers want at such a price.
  9. Haha yeah that's pretty cack(I don't mind it having it as such a childhood memory) but I was referring more to some of the level music :p Very smooth/chill stuff generally, bit of funk later in the jungle iirc, but I just think back and think how serene a game it was. I'm starting to wonder if it might be just the sort of game to play whilst under the influence... *goes to find N64 and Yoshi's Story* EDIT: What guts me a bit is I actually had a proper little tear-off guide for the game that came with ONM well back in the day - never used it much because I didn't want to at the time but I kinda wish I had it now! I remember it had a space for the secret letter that was in each level and you could fill the boxes in slowly and put together the big message eventually!
  10. Not watched the vids yet but seeing reference to the N64 made me think of an old game that I think a lot of Nintendo people may have not bothered with - Yoshi's Story. Sure, it was no Yoshi's Island, and on the surface of it was a very kiddy Nintendo game that was super easy to complete. However, despite that initial shallow appearance, there was actually a large number of optionals etc in the game and ways you could opt to play it with the scoring system that actually gave it a strange amount of depth. Tbh just posting about it now makes me want to try and attempt one day to properly 100% it; something I never even tried because the never forced or encouraged me to, particularly. Also yeah it is super cutesy and kiddy but I actually really appreciate the style when I think about it - still rather unique. Had some great audio for the settings in it too.
  11. Just realised they limit the engraving to a poxy 14 characters so Bum's looking the most likely! Bugger that. Still may have a opening message though at least. If it had more space I was either gonna go with a quote I'd like, a good dumbledore quote, a zenyatta quote, or just something silly and meme-esque. Bit gutted to find out it's only 14 characters though, what the hell are you gonna do with that! (other than Bum, of course :p)
  12. Wow. Expected Red and Blue to be absolutely smashing the crap out of this poll! I do like symmetry and stuff but I also like vibrancy like that, just makes it feel so much more lively.
  13. Hey! I already suggested that ages back! Still the arguments have since been made re: conversions across all the territories - are they expecting those economies to all be negatively affected just by us and the GBP that much?
  14. So! For those who've seen my other bumped thread - need a new phone and considering the Moto G. Sexual Chocolate pointed out that you can actually get it slightly customised from Motorola themselves including a personalised message on boot for free, and for a fiver an engraving on the back of it. Tbh I'm tempted even thought it's completely frivolous and unnecessary - but it got me to thinking what I should/would put on it. Then it got me to thinking what would YOU put on it?? What would you put on your own phone, if you could? I'm currently thinking about whether I wanna go for something serious like a famous quote or something a bit more silly like a meme-related thing. I feel a bit of a pompous dick putting something serious on it even though it's really just for me, but I also think it's silly putting something too frivolous on it too! So essentially I'm definitely gonna do one or the other. I just don't know which yet! So, tl;dr - if you could engrave a sentence or something on the back of your phone for a fiver - what would you go for? (inb4 you wouldn't cos it's silly - that's exactly the point!)
  15. Couldn't find as much on it nor at a price I was happy with now I've got the Moto G in my head! Don't mind rooting etc at all - what do you like about it as a phone? As time goes on I'm increasingly settling on the standard Moto G4. Very tempted by the customisable options if they had the bloody wood in(you weren't wrong @Sexual Chocolate, the Style's options are very nice!) and might engrave it for chuckles too - which is actually about to become a thread topic!
  16. Happy birthday Flinky! Are you/have you celebrated? Most importantly...have you got new birthday games??
  17. Happy birthday to you both! But especially Glen-i. (jk dr.boob ilu2)
  18. Thanks again Chocolate! I'm working my way through reviews of various but yeah - I think price vs features will put me either in the Moto G4 Play camp(~£115) or maybe I'll find a way to make a bit of extra cash to specifically bump up to the regular G4 for the £160. Both apparently are going to get Nougat, so no difference there. I don't NEED extra power - but it'd be nice to just future proof the thing a bit. I've also been perusing MoneySavingExpert and a company are doing a mental deal through BroadbandChoices - £6 a month for 2GB data and unlimited texts/minutes all subject to fair usage but allowing tethering! http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/phones/cheap-sim-only-contracts - very new company, mixed but admittedly limited feedback so far. Not looking fantastic though. Thinking with that plus the G4 regular it'd work out a pretty decent ~13ish quid a month over 2 years. Waiting on a few folks to get back to me to buy some time or find other deals - but really that's looking quite likely for me right now! EDIT: Just looked and that MotoMaker is actually pretty interesting - especially with a tenner to bring it down to the Amazon price! Be nice having a few custom touches on a phone, what service! Just gutted Wood backing is out of stock atm, love that sort of look on tech
  19. Also on an unrelated note - has anyone ever looked into or know much about essentially cloning a phone? Like if I replaced my current(albeit dead, so maybe a limiting factor) phone with an exact same phone/model - is there any way to essentially clone the thing over to the new one? I know someone who has the exact same phone but doesn't use it; it tempts me for the cheapness.
  20. Moto G seems to be the recommendation, and £160's a pretty decent one especially with a rolling £9 for that! You may have sold me, man! My only two questions would be - will a Moto G be network locked(in case I decide to stop the rolling contract at some point) and is it easy enough to root/change firmware on if I wanted? It's unlikely I would, but just for future maybe. Also! On the firmware note - what versions it come with and what's the latest planned? I've heard nice things about Marshmallow but not had it myself. Don't worry if you haven't answers off the top of your head - I'll be googling and researching more into this shortly!
  21. Big bump - almost a year later! Phone seems to have finally given up the ghost and won't charge/turn on. Got a few old ones to run things in the meantime, but one rinses itself to death if I use anything more than 2G or Wifi and the other's just a gammy cracked screen and kinda old. What's folks' recommendations on a budget-esque handset atm? Thinking maybe £200ish at my upper limit - or I'd consider a contract if it's a good deal(currently PAYG giffgaff £10 a month for unlimited texts, 500mins that I never use, and 1GB data). A 2 year deal on something like that with a phone'd at my budget'd come out about £440 which'd be ok if it's a much better phone than that price(unlikely I imagine? I've never had a contract phone). I guess that's a contract at around £18 a month for 2 years.
  22. I dunno, I did a pretty crazy thing of using the English language properly there to put across my meaning. I'm not sure I understand how you totally got what I was trying to say! It's almost like I articulated myself and everything, and the fault is in your excellent and beyond average expectation reading comprehension!
  23. That'd do little more than disenfranchise the old school fans even further, I suspect. Would definitely put me off more, at least! Erm...who was all of this we that were supposedly worried?! I certainly didn't think either of those things!
  24. This is the thing - I don't think they will. I don't think they can really afford to. I think they'll slowly wait out the market and trickle feed for a higher margin over a smaller number of units. As you say - Wii U never really got much of an official cut; it seemed to be good deals about due to retailers dropping it instead. I've still not seen a WiiU premium for £190 or less new.
  25. I really hope you're right Pestneb. It's the only last light I can see for them/it. I find it increasingly difficult to make much sense of this whole thing the more I think about it. EDIT: Not related to the above but in terms of phones for voice chat - they should at least have had some fkin sense to pack a headset in with Switch for customers who don't have one. The PS4 standard headset is actually pretty great - something just like that would have been fine and will piss less people off when they find out they have to use their phone for voice chat and online etc.
