  1. On his site he acknowledges the Wii has been a great success because of the simplified nature of its controls though. However, at the same time, he's dismissing the console as something not suitable for hardcore gamers. Since there are hardcore (complex) games out now and still coming to the Wii, it's anyone's guess why he's choosing to overlook that.
  2. I'd say more than one, but I'm including games like Magic Carpet and Dungeon Keeper from his Bullfrog days. Populous was supposed to be good too, but I never played that. Inspite of what many might say I like Black & White too. Fable is my favourite though.
  3. Well, it was only ever going to go the one way. And, inspite of what the thread starter might say, I think that was the intention.
  4. Well, I hear what you're saying, and it sounds to me like this: huuurr, huuurr, hurrr, nobody agrees with me, boo hoo, the Wii is second rate, maah haah haah, Nintendo is devaluing gaming.
  5. The NES, according to this article.
  6. If you've got a table or some other platform in between your television and sofa, could you place the sensor bar on that? I remember IGN saying they tried it and it still worked fine. The sensor bar only provides a solid reference point and doesn't need to be directly below (or above) the screen. In fact, the sensor bar on my second Wii console is near the left side of the screen (it kept getting moved around when people picked up and put down the television and DVD remotes, so I moved it to one side out of the way!) and still works fine.
  7. Dead Rising! Was there actually a game on that disc? Or did I pay £40 for just a slide show of loading screens?
  8. The same was said last generation though, with people moaning about Nintendo's Gamecube games being very few and far between. I don't think it's that they don't care, they're just not as prolific. In my opinion, Nintendo's games are usually worth 4 or 5 equivalent titles on other console platforms anyway. So I see their taking the time to produce high quality titles as a good thing myself.
  9. It's no wonder the Wii has already robbed the 360 of its lead then. To be fair, I really enjoyed Gears Of War when it first came out. But I started playing it again the other day and lost interest within five minutes. And for some reason, the graphics don't look nearly as impressive as they once did to me. Perhaps it's that the colourful underwater city of Rapture is a far more interesting place to be than the planet Sera?
  10. You're right that they don't sound as good as the real thing (I never said they did ). But if a composer chooses, for example, a violin instrument in a MIDI bank it'll normally be because that composer wants a part of the music to sound like a violin is playing it, regardless of how authentic it sounds. If they do need it to sound authentic then they're better off working with recorded sound files (such as MP3, Ogg Vorbis, etc.) instead of MIDI or modules, so they can mix real instrumental parts with synthesizers as they please. Actually, I'd imagine they do use recorded files, but for whatever reason (laziness or budget restrictions?) use synthesized orchestral parts instead of the real thing in the recordings.
  11. The thing is, a good number of instruments in a MIDI bank are orchestral. So, depending on the instruments a composer chooses for his/her MIDI composition, they are designing (or writing) it for an orchestra. MIDI - although I'd imagine alot of the eletronically produced music in games today is modules rather than MIDI - can sound very mechanical at times. Not good if, for example, you're trying to create a smooth natural sounding legato passage played by a violin. As for what sounds better or worse, played or not played on whatever it was intended for, personal taste factors in that. For example, I prefer to listen to classical music played on modern instruments, even though it was obviously written for the instruments of the time (which have a much coarser tone).
  12. I enjoyed Twilight Princess more than anything I've played on the 360, I could say the same about Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition, but this is not really the point I was making. I was merely emphasising Dilli Gee's arrogance.
  13. Edited for truth!!!
  14. Me too! The introduction of takedowns in Burnout 3 made Burnout 2 boring by comparison. And Burnout Revenge, whilst ticking just about all the same boxes 3 did, for some reason, didn't seem as much fun to play. Hopefully, Paradise will be a return to glory for the series.
  15. It is a new game just for the Wii, but it isn't a new IP. I don't have a problem with that though. As long as it's a good game I'll be happy.
  16. I don't. I have a PS3 for that, and Blu-ray ...oh, and gaming.
  17. From a hardware perspective, my only real gripe with the Wii is the lack of support for HD resolutions. More games in the same league of quality as Twilight Princess would be nice, but they will come. Super Mario Galaxy is just around the corner!
  18. Call Of Duty 3 Excite Truck Heatseeker Rayman Raving Rabbids Red Steel Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition SSX Blur Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz The Godfather: Blackhand Edition The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess Wario Ware: Smooth Moves Wii Sports
  19. I'd be surprised if it didn't.
  20. Chibi Robo. I might wait for the DS version though.
  21. Just before you go to the island, if I recall correctly.
  22. I think the courses in Double Dash!! range from brilliant to rubbish. It's a really mixed bag.
  23. You're an idiot to not have yet realised that opinions aren't facts. I liked it. It's probably my least favourite Mario Kart though.
  24. Badly said. This man tells lies. I prefer Mario Kart.
  25. A lot of people said Excite Truck looked rubbish (and a few also said it has an awful name), but that turned out to be all right. It's easy to say a game looks good/bad from what we see previewed, but until we've played it we don't actually know. Ultimately, if this game has been cancelled then, unlike Excite Truck, it'll never have the chance to prove itself and we'll never know whether it was any good or not.
