I just got this game today. I've loved the series since I got the GBA game. Completed POR not long ago, brilliant from start to finish. This new one though, i've heard it was hard but what the hell! I consider myself a veteran so I stuck it on Normal, thinking now maybe that was a mistake. I died about 6 times on chapter 1...

Wow I had my complaints about the AI before this version but I hadn't heard of any of that. Shit they really fucked it over. The AI in MK has always pissed me off regardless of what version it is.

This is true, and I used to be one of the masses. That ended after Double Dash which had huge potential to change the racing dynamic but didn't. I remember reading an early preview of how the whole point of the two player kart system was that there were going to be more hilly tracks and you'd use the weight of your characters to go faster down hill e.g. Fat ones at the front In fact, what was the point of having two characters on one kart again? That's one thing I do like about the new one, the fact it's gone back to one kart. I guess i'm asking too much from the series, shame we can't have just one Mario Kart and download/buy the new tracks and characters. If they want to do something revolutionary then they can bring out a new one.

People said the same about Smash Bros and look what they got with Brawl. There's a lot that could be done with it if they put the effort in. Bring on the Goldeneye/Mario Kart crossover.

Is Darth Vader going to get a voice over? We know there's only one person to do it (not Hayden). It does seem out of character for him to have an apprentice, would've been more likely that it was actually the Emperor who wanted him rather than Vader. Much like Count Dooku 'training' Anakin. Make more sense too considering Vader is pretty much fucked up inside. Hey ho, i'm not overly confident on this game. How much different from Jedi Knight can it really be?

Holy crap you're in for a very nice surprise. You've done well to at least not see a screenshot... I cannot wait. In my opinion GTA3 was the best for storyline and if it even matches or tops that i'll be very pleased.

It's not even a significant leap graphically like Mario Galaxy, I saw it and I thought it was Double Dash. Did anyone feel it came out rather quick? I thought it'd be at least another year before we got another Mario Kart. It really feels as though they got the Double Dash engine, made a few new tracks and helped themselves out by simply remaking the DS tracks, chucked in the motion sensing from Excitetruck, printed and packaged it. Finances are tight this month and there's no justification for getting this over GTA4.

I'm in the same situation. I really can't afford to get it if i'm honest but there's this feeling that I should just to see what it's like. Gah, bloody Nintendo. It has literally nothing new apart from bikes and new tracks. I've heard the computer opponents are even more annoying in this one, how they topped MK64 I don't know. Are they now going to go at light speed once they're in front of you? I'm used to dropping a few places if I get hit in first but what if that few places is now 10, I wouldn't be impressed and the controller would get a very brutal meeting with the floor. What is keeping me curious is the online... Might wait to see impressions.

I hope the story in this one is better than San Andreas. I loved GTA3 but really couldn't get on with SA because it was just too big. I'd never see the same place twice and I really couldn't give a crap about some gang war. Bring back the mafia!

Yes I know i'm not one to talk lol. RaR is definitely not a metal festival but I have to see RATM live, it's like a once in a lifetime opportunity for any fan. Kate Nash, try Stereophonics, Manic Street Preachers :p. Seriously some of the bands going made me laugh but i've heard the atmosphere at camp is AMAZING. You're probably right about the bands, usually Download makes up for it with the smaller bands. I have other reasons for not going to Download this year, college commitments. I hope you guys have a good time, but when you've been 5 years straight you need a change. I just hope you guys have fun, I want to see some pics! just for nostalgia :p

Hah, the first year a thread about Download made it past 3 pages and it's the first year i'm not going. Been a veteran of it for 5 years now and I personally think it's got shitter as the years have gone by. If there are more than 5 metal bands there i'd be surprised. The headliners are a joke compared to the past, Metallica, SOAD, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath etc. The camp life has literally been taken over by scene kids . I'm not trying to discourage anyone from going, it's the only UK festival experience worth going to, it's just not the same anymore. I'm off to Rock am Ring in Germany to see RATM, Prodigy, Opeth, Serj Tankian, and Metallica!! /rant :p

Maybe it's a subtle warning for people in the piracy/hacking game instead of just dumping it straight away. A bit like saying "We're going to stop you, but we're giving you fair warning to sell your imported shit first lolz". That's from a perspective Nintendo actually give a shit.
