  1. I would love to participate in this but that timeframe won't work for me, as my weekend is pretty filled up. Cool idea though!
  2. In that case, I would be in for SMK as well, to get back to even numbers.
  3. I think you have to wait for a year and then collect the seven Dragon Balls again.
  4. If you liked Shovel of Hope, then just go ahead and skip Plague of Shadows and start Spectre of Torment or King of Cards. Plague of Shadows is easily the worst one of the four, and it's the only one I couldn't get through. But the other ones I loved, so it would be a shame to miss out on those.
  5. Iconoclasts (Switch) Done! I’ve finished the game in a little under 11 hours, which is a perfectly acceptable time for the game to last. Don’t be fooled by that low score on Tweaks; I never crafted more of those as you only have 3 slots for them and I just crafted the ones I needed, and I didn’t know they would count towards completion. I have the materials to up that number quite a bit. Components is a bit low as well but I never went back to them as they don’t really give you anything extra. I wanted to backtrack to up the score but my savegame is before the final boss and I don’t think I can go back from there. All in all an enjoyable game. The length for me is perfect, and it plays well. The characters could have used even more fleshing out, despite the comments of too much dialogue in this game that you read. I got it for €10 in the sale and at that price it’s definitely worth it. Pokémon Sword (Switch) I already posted about this in the Pokémon Sword and Shield thread, but I finally became Galar champion. I have mixed feelings about the game, although they hang towards the positive. But like I said before in the other thread, I think I just outgrew the series a bit. Will go back to complete the Pokédex, and probably get the DLC but I’ll give it a little bit of a rest first. Okami HD (Switch) With both Iconoclasts and Pokémon finished I have room to start some new games on Switch. I picked up Okami HD on my holiday in Japan, and I decided it’s time to start this. The first hour was a bit difficult to get into. First of all it took about 20 minutes before I could take my first steps, and the controls felt a bit outdated. But after adjusting a couple of things (inverting camera and turn of rumble, that is insane when on!) and coming to peace that this is a 12 year old game I got into it. The game looks so charming, and it is great that it is set in Japan as well, as I saw all these traditional temples and houses on my holiday. It’s quite heavy on the dialogue, and that cricket is damn annoying. But I think I’m going to get a lot of enjoyment from this. For the second game to start I was thinking about starting Wargroove, but I think I will first finish off Valkyria Chronicles. It’s a game that I love playing but takes it’s time. I usually tackle a few chapters and then leave it for a couple of months. Time to push through. And postponing Wargroove means that I get to play it when the Double Trouble DLC is already out. I also made some good progress with Shadow of the Tomb Raider (PC), but I'll update on that when I'm a bit further on. Still enjoying it.
  6. There's a lot of info popping up for Pokémon Home. Apparently there will be a free and a paid subscription, and it launches in February. I've never really looked into the whole Pokémon Bank/Pokémon Home stuff, so I'll let someone else do the summary https://home.pokemon.com/en-us/?cid=&utm_source=tw&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=pokemonhome&utm_term=january28
  7. It feels like it's been a while, but a new Grand Prix is starting soon. I don't think there's a theme to unlock, but you can win 999 gold coins again.
  8. I'm well up for a remake of the original games. First of all there's the nostalgia feel. I had MK1 on the SNES, indeed tough as nails but so good. And I really like the old Fatality system over the new one they use.
  9. Haha epic. And IN!
  10. Just finished listening to this week's podcast. Another enjoyable one! About the Mass Effect trilogy: Bioware has been teasing on Twitter that something is happening. First with a fragment from ME1 and another with a quote from ME2. So chances are a Trilogy remaster is on the way, hopefully coming to the Switch as well.
  11. I have finally (FINALLY!) finished the storyline of Pokémon Sword. Beat it with this team (I was expecting a nice shot of my champion team but that never came so I had to do it with the save screen:
  12. Ah yeah the transition tune. It's a wild guess, but based on the mexican style music I would guess Guacamelee?
  13. I haven't really edited game footage, but I used OpenShot for a music video and for putting together the N-E Café to go on YouTube. It may not be very extensive compared to the bigger paid programs, but you can easily have different tracks on top of each other to do overlays. It's free and open source, so maybe there are even more functions available as plugins. Haha man, that thing sounds awesome! Is it purely a software hack or is it hardware modified? Would love to see the thing and how it works.
  14. Wouldn't mind this one. I've started it but haven't pushed on so this would give me an incentive to finish it. It's also an interesting one to talk about as I think it really depends on the alternative quests for bringing the challenge. And it has those animal friends which kind of mixes it up compared to the previous Kirby titles.
  15. Great question from @WackerJr by the way. Movies based on games have a bad reputation and there are plenty of examples, but somehow I have a weak spot for them. For example I really liked Mortal Kombat, but I think I was about 12 when I last saw it so my opinion may have changed a bit there. Never did see the Mario movie. I did enjoy the few episodes I saw of the anime with the real life intro. I also had a VCR with a cartoon series based on Super Mario Bros 3, where they visit the Giant Kingdom but I don't think it had the real life bit in front. My favourite series is Resident Evil. The first movies are awesome, the later ones are really bad but I still enjoy watching them. If you want some quality RE material, the CGI movies are pretty good. Alone In The Dark is another really bad one. It's the same as Resident Evil in the sense that it has almost nothing to do with the game series, and the movie itself is awful. Great soundtrack though. The first Tomb Raider movie was good, the other ones meh. Haven't watched the reboot yet but that is on my list. Given your love for Doom I was shocked you didn't mention that one! I never saw it either though. Finally Ready Player One is a weird one. I loved the book, but it differentiates quite a lot from the movie. It's much more referencing 80s pop culture, video games and music while the movie is more in line with current day. Watching it I had quite high expectations, but I also thought it wasn't that great. But the book is well recommended. Edit: Watching on wikipedia there is quite a list I haven't seen yet. I have some catching up to do! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_films_based_on_video_games
  16. Quoting @Sméagol from the SSBU Online Thread: I've been wanting to open up a topic about this earlier, but I guess this is a good moment to do so. Anyway currently my set-up is a desktop PC with: Intel Core i5 16GB RAM NVIDIA GTX1080Ti An SSD for speed, and a traditional hard drive to save video files to An AverMedia Live Gamer HD C985 capture card It has plenty of power to stream PC games to Twitch and Mixer without the need of a separate dedicated streaming PC. I use OBS Studio for the capture/streaming part. It's a free piece of software but works well. I have to look into it a bit more but I believe you can even use it to do overlays etc. But since I'm not doing any webcamming along the way I haven't really used that feature. To be honest I haven't even talked during a stream yet, but maybe I will start doing that in the future. Don't feel the need to show my face alongside it though. :P With the AverMedia that I recently got (pretty cheap secondhand) I can now also capture or stream Switch games (or any other device that has HDMI). I did a few captures already and yesterday I streamed our Smash session. For streaming again I use OBS, and for capturing I use AverMedia's own software. The limitation to my capture card is that it is capped at either Full HD at 30 frames or 720p at 60 frames. But I didn't want to invest in a more expensive card yet as I don't know if I want to do a lot with streaming/capturing. So for testing the waters it is actually working great. Plus it comes with a big red button that you can smack to start streaming. Not that useful, but satisfying to use haha. The other limitation is that everything is in my desktop PC (the capture card is an internal one as well), so I cannot capture my casual couch games. I have to crawl behind my PC monitor to get it all going. With a laptop+external capture card I would be a lot more flexible. But I'm a traditional guy and I like my PC's big, bulky and upgradeable. :P Curious to hear other people's setup, and if there are streamers among us. I'm just going to quote @LazyBoyas I know he recently got a capture card, and @GenericApersonbecause I've seen his videos of Metroid Prime 2 and I'm curious how he captures and edits his videos. 17. That was my last one, thanks for the games (and @Sméagolfor watching)! Some stupid moments again, trying to get the Smash Ball while @RedShellwas charging the Super Scope was my favourite.
  18. For the voyeurs: https://www.twitch.tv/dufniall046
  19. Just received the weekly Nintendo releases press release mail, and the DLC character is not mentioned, which they usually do if there is a new one available. So either they will send out a separate release, or he won't be available yet today.
  20. That lesson on binary handcounting though...
  21. My normal Thursday evening plans are cancelled for tonight, so I may join in for an hour or so!
  22. I'm the same as that I don't mind a bit of storytelling. There are quite a few cutscenes but mostly they are presented well. It is a pretty dark and heavy story though, which I really wasn't expecting based on the colourful screenshots. Maybe that's a bit too much for some. But since the platforming is pretty straightforward, I don't mind the cutscene breaks.
  23. One of my new year’s resolutions is posting more in this thread! So let’s kick off with what I have been playing since the start of 2020: Iconoclasts (Switch) This has been on my watch list for a while but I never got it until last Christmas when it was 50% off. I was expecting a metroidvania with heavy RPG influences. It is not very metroidvania as backtracking is fairly minimal, and you only acquire a couple of upgrades for your weapons. It is also not very RPG-like, there is no levelling, only some equipment slots to fill. What you do get is a very colourful platforming game, with a surprising dark story, some good humour and it all plays well. There are some clever puzzles, but the level design is not that spectacular. I may have had higher expectations for this, so it is not as good as I would have thought, but still it is a very enjoyable game. Currently about 8 hours in and I think I’m nearing the end, so I guess it is about a 10 hour ride. Paladins (Switch/PC) I never noticed it was possible to get the Season Pass with in-game currency, I thought you could only get it with real money. Anyway, I had enough crystals to get it. Paladins has been my go-to game for a while, and I still enjoy playing it. I also have it installed on Steam and full cross-play means I can just grind my levels on PC as well. The game received a graphical haul-over, as well as some QoL improvements (such as finally cutting the waiting time in match-making when everyone is locked in). Shadow of the Tomb Raider (PC) Still making some progress in this, although not as fast as I was expecting. Not that it is a bad game, far from it, but somehow I just wind up playing different games. Anyway, I just left the first town in Peru, about 5 hours in I guess? It’s more of the same after TR and ROTTR but I like the setting as I’ve been to Peru myself and reading some of the lore makes me recognize some of the Inca culture which I picked up there. I started this game with the Steam Controller, but I switched back to using my XBox 360 controller as I just couldn’t get used to the Steam one. It needs a proper setup but for now I can’t be bothered. Pokémon Sword (Switch) Making progress here as well, but also slowly but steadily. When I’m playing it I like it, but somehow it feels like a burden to start it up. Which is strange because I think I tackled the last 3 gyms plus the League in just a couple of hours. And that is where I am now, finished the League and now have to find the Champion as some shenanigans are going on. Right now I feel like I should just rush through the story so I can then go into easy mode and start filling the Dex. May call out in the thread for some trades by then! Red Alert 3 Uprising (PC) And now for something completely different. I reinstalled Red Alert 3 Uprising, it is a game I sometimes just feel the urge to play again. Back in the day I played it co-op with a friend a lot and just playing it brings back so many good memories. I never got to finish the Challenges in the Uprising expansion, although I started it many times. Decided to give it another go. It would actually be a fun game to stream, as every challenge has a catch, they are all quite short and if you would have a following you could even let them choose which challenge to do and with which faction. However, lack of followers on Twitch means I really don’t have an incentive haha. Not sure I will gain followers with this as well. But the game is still so good. Soundtrack is awesome, and it is very satisfying to just wipe out an enemy base with a big swarm of copters. Still love it, let’s see if I can finish the challenges this time around!
  24. It's a game called 2020 but is actually not playable in 2020. or did they fix that bug?
