I called work Sunday night 9pm and told them I won’t be in this week, my dad did the same with his job.

Off to New Hampshire today to hopefully make it in time to say bye to my last grandparent. My dad called last night to let me know my grandma (his mother) might not make it through the night. Last year it was my dads oldest brother and now this. Plus side it’s a minor family reunion just under not good circumstances.

Just “bought” PSVR. Got an email to try it at home. Comes with the new headset, camera, move controllers, Skyrim VR blu-ray and a Demo disc of VR. 2 week trial with 10 days to ship back before being charged. Near as I can tell it’s a good deal though. I can’t find the headset with camera and controllers anywhere near as cheap as $299. Now I just wonder how it’ll work with my poor eyesight. I’m sure I can’t wear my glasses but I really don’t feel like having to wear my contacts if I want to play.

The best part about this news is it means the servers stayed up for nearly a full 6 years after they were originally going to be shut down. I’m doubtful of a port honestly. They don’t really seem to do that instead preferring to keep creating new products. Plus the fact that I think they’re essentially done for now with the souls series as a whole.

Whisjey shots, mario, Red Wings game. Thanksgivig week so I only work Mon-Wed this week hurrah. 4 day weekend. Also have tickers to a minor league hockey game day after thanksgiving. Interestingly Jim Sterling was actually sent a One X by Microsoft (along with codes for Lucky, Recore, Gears 4, and Quantum Break) he did a Jimpressions on Super Luckys Tale and the One X combined. He says the game is okay and enjoyable and that the X is a impressive package. But just that he is unimpressed as of yet simply because he’s already been doing 4k and the PS4 pro. He does defend Lucky being the premier game however because he thinks the wide color palette is the best way to showcase the enhanced abilities more so than the other games he was given (and has already reviewed.)

I’m personally not much of a map builder, but it’s incredibly robust of a tool. Really reminds me of Little Big Planet when you start checking out some of the maps and actual campaigns others have come up with. Practically player made DLC.

Alternative opinion, ODST for goat. It was a side story so it doesn’t really count, but I much enjoyed its campaign and spent many hours doing firefight. Closest game I’ve ever got to 1000/1000 on Achievements. 990 only missed one firefight. Second closest Modern Warfare, fuck Mile High Club.

Does it benefit the game? No? Then it isn’t something that should be charged for, and sets poor precedent for our hobby. One of my favorite games used to be Team Fortress 2. About the time I quit playing was when they began adding in Hats and Crafting and loot boxes, and becoming free to play. Those additions were actively detrimental to most servers because of how obsessed people became. Add in Steam marketplace and people are buying and selling this shit.... It was sort of the beginning of publishers figuring out how to fleece consumers with cosmetic shit. They realized they needed some finesse and couldn’t just do Bethesda Horse Armor. Microtransactions have evolved and worked into games and twisted our perception. People just aren’t in it for the long fight. What once caused outrage doesn’t get a response. So they add more and go further. That’s all EA did, pushed the bounds a little and saw the current limit. In a few years it’ll be the norm, people won’t have the energy to care to be mad about a $60 pay to win situation. And your fucking Mii costumes are a part of that scheme no matter how harmless. Pretending they aren’t is what is ignorant. If you like them fine, if you buy them good for you and great for the publisher.

Well, I can’t think of a game yet that has benefited from microtransactions. And I mean the game itself benefiting, not just the developers or publishers. So I’d say that his verdict does indeed fit all.

Bullshit. You can’t put this on PS4 and Xbox Ones push for 4K. Game development cost has been skyrocketing for the past decade since the advent of HD consoles. Regardless though, it’s still bullshit to blame the console makers. Publishers are the ones pushing bigger and bigger budgets that simply are unsustainable. They need to know their market and budget appropriately. Look at Hellblade, no publisher and a budget within reason. Gorgeous and well made game released at a low budget price, they made enough sales to turn a profit around 3 months ahead of projections. Not every game needs a 100 million budget. And Amiibo are absolutely dlc.

About damn time! The music is absolutely fantastic as always when dealing with Yoko Taro. You’re in for a treat once you start doing the other main endings. Every ounce of which is spoiler territory. I never did get around to the DLC myself :/
