  1. Disney has sent out a press release revealing the official, and extremely intriguing, synopsis for Episode VIII.
  2. So, at the very least - for now - Infinity War reads like it has an amazing trailer.
  3. KINGDOM HEARTS 3 IS COMING OUT NEXT YEAR (courtesy of the D23 trailer). Toy Story is also confirmed for the game!
  4. Behind the story of BFII
  5. Excellent Eurogamer/Digital Foundry article/video on Wii U ports coming to the Switch.
  6. First A Wrinkle in Time trailer: First look at Mary Poppins Returns:
  7. Hello there! I wanted to open a thread to talk all things Star Wars, considering the slew of films, animated shows, books and comics already around, as well as the upcoming Star Wars Land and other media entries on their way. May the Force be with you all.
  8. Greetings all; I have opened this thread so we have one set location to talk almost all things Disney, whether it be the films (live-action, animated or Pixar), theme parks and attractions, business, general appreciation or just about anything else that might come under this banner (Star Wars and Marvel have their own threads already, which is why I've specified Pixar films in particular here). My main reason for opening this thread right now is because A LOT of Disney-related news is dropping this weekend during the D23 Expo over in Anaheim, and with plenty more news and films to come in the coming months and years, I figured that it would save a lot of searching for threads to have this all discussed in one place. I have hidden the previous Disney•Pixar thread accordingly. Note: I'll be sure to update this post later to be more thread-introduction-friendly
  9. The game will be available to play at SDCC.
  10. A prequel to the highly-anticipated videogame Star Wars Battlefront II and set immediately after the events of Rogue One and A New Hope, the book follows the Empire’s response to the destruction of their vaunted battle station. Determined to thwart all threats, Inferno Squad, featuring some of the best Imperial soldiers, goes on a mission to infiltrate and eliminate the Partisans — the rebel faction once led by the legendary Saw Gerrera. The novel is set for release July 27th.
  11. Expect to hear some of the first Infinity War news - and perhaps even see a teaser trailer - come this weekend at Disney's D23 Expo, as well as some news/trailers/images regarding Thor: Ragnarok, Black Panther and Ant-Man and The Wasp. Heck, even some Captain Marvel news might be on the cards. Some film journalists are suggesting that we could see more of the framework of the MCU's Phase Four here, too, but I have my reservations - both as a fan of their films and as someone who's been paying very close attention to how Disney and it's owned studios have been meticulously crafting promotional campaigns and layouts - as to whether or not this will actually turn out to be true; in my honest opinion, I think having the foreknowledge of Phase Three's initial layout was one of the many reasons that Avengers: Age Of Ultron, despite being a good film in its own right and garnering massive box office success, couldn't be seen as succeeding in some areas where the originals Avengers - and heck, even some of the solo-outing films - managed to, such as suspenseful storytelling. We were informed beforehand that Jeremy Renner had renewed his contract, and that Chris Evans and RDJ were obviously going to be in Civil War, and so on. At this point, we know that Spidey is safe and that the Guardians of the Galaxy, in one form or another, are going to make it through to the next phase as we already know that a Homecoming sequel and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 are in the works; in fact, at this point, I see it as highly unlikely that we don't see Dr Strange, Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Ant-Man, The Wasp, Scarlet Witch and some others make it through to Four either, simply because of when they were/are planned to be introduced.
  12. Okay, so there are some fairly serious leaks making the rounds now courtesy of being LEGO sets launching on Force Friday this September. From the sound of things there's enough new stuff in these leaks to assume that this new stuff will turn up in the BTS reel expected this weekend, or a trailer (if we get one) over the summer. Time to abandon the internet (or at least the Star Wars parts) I guess.
  13. It's times like these when I wish I was an unplugged vending machine in the middle of a park.
  14. October 17th It's been faaaaaar too long since I've played a Gran Turismo title (for reference, uh...A-Spec was my last), and after having dabbled with Forza for a while last generation, I can't wait to just enjoy looking at cars again, getting behind the wheel and smelling the virtual rubber.
  15. On the downside i think it would have been a really fun game to play during the Christmas holiday. I mean, it's effectively playing through a Ghibli film... On the upside THANK GOODNESS BECAUSE Q4 IS STACKED.
  16. I dont think that's a sufficient excuse, given that it was in Italy, Spain and also Canada that the street date for XY was broken by roughly the same period of time (1-2 weeks before launch). Where's that NA delay? I don't know, i struggle to buy into that personally, but there's also not much else that could have caused the delay over here; it's just barmy to me that we have to sit and guess in the first place, given how much Pokémon is dependent on nostalgia (and therefore it's fanbase), and especially seeing as, if the delay is due to the street date being broken here, the delay would seem unfair and unjust seeing as it was broken elsewhere too, and millions of fans would be punished not even for the actions of other fans, but of retailers.
  17. Uh...XY were released simultaneously worldwide (October 12th 2013). So do you believe it yet? As for SM and ORAS, I don't recall them saying 'worldwide release' at any point in the build-up; I'm pretty sure we just got a time period (Holiday 2016 for SM, for instance) given in a few trailers before we found out that it wouldn't be a simultaneous worldwide release. It still confuses me greatly, though, as to why we got a week/few days delay for ORAS and SM here in Europe, and it's worrying that I don't recall them coming out to attempt to clear that up with fans (and some chains/sole traders breaking street date and localisation isn't a sufficient excuse, in my opinion).
  18. New trailer for FMA... ...I'm going to say no thanks, despite this being my favourite anime (in it's Brotherhood incarnation). This is one of those rare times where 'whitewashing' with a Japanese franchise would actually make perfect sense, given the in-world geography of FMA.
  19. They've already confirmed it's a worldwide release of November 17th though, with this being a worldwide release (at least in major territories), I think we might have seen our last Pokémon main series non-worldwide launch last year with Sun and Moon, what with the Switch being region free and all.
  20. Might be USUM related, might not be (my personal opinion is that it's the former, but we'll see). Very intriguing video nonetheless!
  21. On the upside, the Switch is getting its first media app. On the downside... Still, this is pretty big news; I'd be surprised if the year ended without the Switch at least having YouTube and Netflix apps (as well as a browser).
  22. Quite a lot of news - and LEGO minifigures - been leaking over the last few months, but from what I've heard about them there aren't any major revelations involved; I'm avoiding everything but trailers at this point, but with D23 taking place next weekend and a BTS reel expected to drop, I think I'll have to make sure I check it out. Star Wars is definitely the only franchise where I care just as much about the creative process as I do the finished product for any form of product they release.
  23. Picked up for £9.49 as part of the Big in Japan sale on the PlayStation Store. Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience Can't wait to start this up after I finish Final Fantasy VII and Horizon Zero Dawn (so yep, it's joining my backlog).
  24. Been watching a lot of Ghibli lately (it's quickly becoming one of my favourite summer traditions) and it still amazes me that these films are a) that beautiful, b) that rich in depth and story, and c) so subtly accurate in its depiction of humans. I genuinely think that especially minor touches, such as a character accidentally hitting their head in an interior location or kicking their shoes against the floor to make sure that it's on correctly, not only deepen the characters, but make them so much easier to empathise with: these are small daily challenges/reassurances many of us face/act out. Compare that form of storytelling to the majority of blockbuster films releasing these days and it's relatively easy to understand the difference in the design of each character and how that betters the film they're in. Onto newer films, I'm hoping to see Spider-Man: Homecoming and Wonder Woman in a double hitter next Wednesday (I was waiting on WW reviews anyhow after feeling burned by BvS and Suicide Squad last year, but being pretty severely ill has dragged that through to this month), and I can't wait. I love movies, but I've had a really tough time this year personally, which has made it nigh-on impossible to go to the cinema, which is an experience I typically love. Especially excited because of the great reviews for both films so far
