I've decided to ramp up my after work drinking from Friday to today. Ahead of Wednesdays new team briefing with our new lead, which would take our team down to 3 people, one had an accident over the weekend and has busted her arm, so will be off for a month at least. The second had to leave today as she's got some health issues and I don't know when she'll be back, leaving only me. They seem to have wangled one of the agency staff who worked here before to stay with us, but that's only temporary and things will get worse before they get better :'(

I thought it was fucking awful. I can only assume the book is better and has much more substance to it, because this felt like someone had seen a couple of episodes of Black Mirror / Inside No. 9 / Room 104 and went "y'know what would make an episode of this better? Stretching it out over almost 6 hours" and thought it would somehow work. For the first four episodes you get the sense of an serious/actual drama (like The Stranger which nailed it perfectly), then right at the last minute it slams in a It was just silly and I couldn't take it seriously after that.

Trimming may be violating Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and in breach of The European Habitats Directive 1992/Nesting Birds Directive. So don't get caught if you do this

And it will be surprising how willing they will be for home working after this has settled down too I bet. I'd tell them to fuck off if they tried cancelling my leave, let them try that "let's pull together as a team." Bollocks they push when giving you more work for once -

The new anime and manga thread! [Use Spoiler Tags!]
EEVILMURRAY replied to Shorty's topic in General Chit Chat
Just finished first season of Assassination Classroom. Loved it. Quirky, funny, great premise/characters. Now for the second season! As soon as Attack on Titan and Dr Stone gets more dubbing I'll be jumping back into that. Funimation also has caused me to discover Cells at Work, which draws immediate parallel to Once Upon a Time... Life from our youth. Unfortunately the app only has it subbed (in UK, dubbed in US app, boo) which plays havoc with the scientific terminology. So another one to wait for. -
Are GBA's cheaper? Plus that Post Malone thing was bollocks.

Zavvi are having a bit of a sale with the anime blu rays. I saw the first season of this on Netflix years ago and loved it, but they never got round to getting the second season up.

It's amazing how many companies pre-pandemic said people couldn't work from home until this time last year... even more amazing is NHS saying you cannot, they're practically making loads do it here. Selfish update: didn't get the other job, which wasn't a massive letdown, but the feedback I got was, apart from the usual "we had other strong candidates", to brush up on the values of NUH and make more examples relevant to NHS jobs, which all but one of my examples were. Think I dodged a bullet there. Had original whispers that other PAs for our department would be moving over to the office I'm in, which turned out to be incorrect, but because a different division has taken our department back, we're being feng sui'd into a corner and bordered off from the rest, and losing our agency support. So until they hire more (which is apparently happening eventually) we'll have something like 5x5m space away from everyone else, which will mostly contain me as the other ladies from home / whatever drama may happen with schools and messes their kids around.

High score used to be a number in a list with 3 letters. Now it's about how many Likes, Retweets and YouTube subs you get, people are going to flock to this to do just that. As it's an on rails timed level games, even I might even watch a Lets Play video on some of it. -

Hopes: New Ranger Game New core game, doesn't have to have a wealth of new 'mon, just a new world. More Snap stuff Maybe reboot of Sinnoh shizzle, proper style. Hopefully sneaking in a sequel to Golden Sun What we'll probably get: More Mystery Dungeon bollocks More DLC for Sword/Shield Reboot of Sinnoh but in Pokemon Go stylie Clones of other games just with Pokemon in / freemium appz -
I didn't think it was *that* bad, but the forced sexual angst was unnecessary "Why would I do that?" "Because you're a guy, and I'm hot" Emmy award winning scripting there. Length was perfect, of a second season happens and is as long I'll give it a whirl. Unlike Warrior Nun which went nowhere very quickly. Currently testing Behind Her Eyes, because all women within earshot at work won't shut up about it, and it's starting to make waves on the Facebook feed.

With the changeover finally happening, it looks like I'm being made into a permanent PPA, which is pretty much the same duties as I am on now (I'm still working out the deets), but they've realised they've not been paying us as much as they should, so we're going to get backpaid from August, so that'll be just under a grand I think. Also had an interview for a gynae/colp typist today, same pay as above but more on the typing, so kinda a step back, but equal money for less work... hmmm... Even though with my future pretty much assured I went to it anyway, just as a fallback or leverage. I think I did alright. I'm pretty sure I beat the lass who went in before me. There was a typing portion of the interview which they said would be 20 minutes. I get there and someone else is still doing theirs so I'm waiting outside, for about 30 minutes and I can hear periodic typing, sounds like slow stuff. So they drag me into the interview bit first. I get to the typing portion, wondering about my skills, as if this is meant to take 20 minutes and this other one took over 30, there's possible several letters etc. No. Two documents, one has 3 questions you write your answer to, the other was a 90 second dictation. I was out in under 5 minutes, and I only took as long as I did was because I Google'd the spelling of some conditions.

This delightful TV. https://www.costco.co.uk/Electronics-Security/Televisions-Projectors/Televisions/LG-50UN81006LB-50-Inch-4K-Ultra-HD-Smart-TV/p/331361 I come home from a shitty day at work and the subsequent satisfying nap, ready to watch telly and I find my TV was broken, it was flickering every second - but not turning off - looks like the LEDs in the back had gone. Naturally this in unacceptable so I demanded wife take me to costco so I could buy another. Mission accomplished. It's got like a mousewheel on the remote. Crazy.

I get that completely. There was fuck all I could find that I could use my degree for, in the end I just had to accept the reality and go into retail. Not what I wanted, but it's all about the money in the end

I thought they said there was "more benefit" with a bigger delay between the jabs? (whether it's true or not...) -
So have I, by this I mean - is your consultant stuff related to your degree or did you have to find something better?

Yep, and not as much as we did the first time around. I think it worn everyone down. Main thing is (for my dept) is just that we're about a month behind on sending letters out, so people not getting meds in time etc. -
Could be worse, you could have a media studies degree.

With my contract due to end on Feb 18th, I've been given a 3 month extension while they still decide what's happening with our department. Which is nice, but wish the heels weren't being dragged so much. Still, means I can stick around until May

I had to give props to Führer Johnson for acting so "quickly", as soon as I saw Our Savior Starmer suggest another lockdown, I could feel Boris rolling out a Captain Hindsight speech and how he doesn't need to do anything because of "putting in £x million into blah..." much like he did with the circuit breaker before he U-turned on that. I was expecting a similar fobbing off and then it happening in a couple of weeks. Was nice of him to mention the free school meals too, nip that renegade Marcus coming back and making such unreasonable requests. Alas this doesn't change my circumstances, work hasn't changed, except some of the other staff have had to go back home-schooling etc. -
She's always been a redhead to me, albeit more subtle It was just her hairstyle that annoyed me in Zero

This makes me want to bang out the original special edition I has on PS3, barely even touched it. I got killed by one of the first enemies then gave up, even using the FAQ it bloody came with.

Agreed, this could've either been a bit shorter, or at least some alternative footage. It almost felt like it was a video all about the water temple.

I finished watching it around the same time. They could've finished it at season 7. This was on par with Game of Thrones for dull endings. Especially the pawning off of Harrison, and his killer girlfriend just not dyeing her fucking hair.
