  1. Well, I didn't know who this nostalgia chick was, so I googled it.. She mainly speaks about the differences between Dreamworks and Disney.. And that the main difference is marketing, which I also disregard for this purpose. She actually says, when she talks about the actual content, that Dreamworks was moving away from their rivalry with Disney itself by copying Pixar. She concludes that their last few films, like How to train your dragon, are more like Pixar, because they actually take their characters seriously. They may put a different emphasis on things (the pop culture references and celebrity voices for the Dreamworks side), but at their core, they're 2 3D animation studios whose aim is to produce family entertainment.
  2. Oh yeah, that's what I meant, didn't get my facts straight. Heartbreaking nonetheless.
  3. Well again, the best thing to do is take one of your modules, check the brand and type / productnumber, then search a matching set. Although it's possible they're no longer sold anymore, it's still the safest bet to keep as close to the same specs as the others as possible. [here are the specs of your motherboard] There you can see that it supports DDR2 or DDR3, and at which speeds (800 is ok). [here you can see the compatibility list of your motherboard] But these lists are never extensive. It doesn't list the one you linked, but it does list similar, and it's likely to work. Still, I'd personally look for a 2 x 1 GB set (like [this one], except from a UK site (or wherever you want to order from) ( and I assume you want to go from 2 to 4 GB), and again, if you can find out what you currently have and find that.. Then you can safely buy that.
  4. Post your motherboard. That said, yes, you bought a Laptop memory module, they only fit in laptops. The other one is likely to fit, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's compatible. It likely is, but.. Are you going to replace your old memory, or are you going to keep it? As a rule of thumb, you should try to keep every module the same (brand / type / speed). But it's not too bad if they're not, but you should look for the specs of your board to see if which memory is compatible. But as the ones you posted isn't anything outrageous, it's a fair bet it is. I also suggest shopping at computer shops, where all the necessary specs are detailed, Amazon if good if you know what you're looking for. Although I forgot.. Are DDR3 and DDR2 compatible? I think you may need DDR3.
  5. I like the items to top-posters.. However, I assume that you want to encourage people to post more. I'd say that's great, but then you should at least give a hint at how these items are obtained, otherwise it won't work. If you didn't necessarily want to encourage people posting, that it's just a nice and welcomed addition.
  6. I think Dannyboy likes to point out the mod has to at least inform us of this, so that players can make an informed decision. But this isn't usually a huge element that a mod would think of pointing out in the sign-up thread. But like he said, the point is moot, as he's including alignments anyway. Sorry Peeps, shouldn't post here at all, but I feel like I'm letting you down or something . I think I'll go take that break now which I planned to do earlier, and skip this and a few others I think. Will be around for at least the videogame DIY, and perhaps earlier, but eventhough I'm sure your game will be great, it doesn't really feel right joining up at the moment. I will follow it as a non-participant though!
  7. I don't know what to think of the bandwagon. He hasn't been a nuisance yet. Although it's weird to have "3 Angusses" walking around.. Perhaps I'm more forgiving towards neutrals then others. The hate I generally see against neutrals in mafia games here reminds me of Futurama..
  8. But the feel isn't important if we're talking about their goals, as they both seek to entertain primarily kids through 3D animated entertainment, where comedy / humour plays the biggest factor, followed by action. In this, they're exactly the same. Again, the feel is what determines, for a guy like me, why I love one but hate the other, but that doesn't change the fact that what they try to do is the same. It's just that, in my opinion, one succeeds, and the other doesn't, but box office numbers don't agree with me. Although I'd like to nuance my "hate" towards Dreamworks, I think I should give them a chance, and (re)watch some of their stuff.. I guess it's mostly Shrek I hate.
  9. Hmm, yeah, after reading some of the views.. I don't know. I don't think I'll care too much. I agree with Magnus above.. RPG == stats. I don't care if there are many or few, there should be some stats that determine how effective you are, and you should be able to develop them. What are RPG videogames based on? Right, the tabletop RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons. They use stats, they are turn-based, and luck is a huge factor. I personally don't have experience with those kind of RPG's, it seems if you go really hardcore, there's pen & paper RPG which does away with stats, but I think that most people will, outside of videogames, associate RPGs with things like D&D. That doesn't mean RPG (in videogames) is a static genre, it can develop, not every element typical of an RPG is necesary, and other elements can be introduced. But, if the rumours are true, then I feel ME3 will be even less of an RPG, because it has too few RPG elements, which will surely disappoint me. However. Does that mean I won't enjoy the game? Cube has a point, the story and conversations (I'll throw in atmosphere) are what makes this game great, and I enjoy shooters as well. In ME2, the actual shooting part to me is actually the least interesting part. I guess they should just decide what aspect they want to improve (preferrably both, but..). The point is, if I had to judge ME1 and ME2 solely on gameplay, ME1 wins hands-down. ME1 has the better RPG elements, the shooting is ok, not fantastic, but it's ok, because ME1 is an RPG. ME2 controls better shooter-wise, but the RPG elements are watered down. The shooting is better, but if we're going to compare this with shooters, than it's still not good enough. If it weren't for the story, dialogue, and atmosphere, ME2 would be a major disappointment to me, and I wouldn't rate it as high as I do now, probaby wouldn't even want to play it. So the story carries the game for me, and I love all the characters (well most of them). What should ME3 do in my eyes, is improve the RPG elements again, in which case, I don't care much how the shooting part plays out. But if the rumours are true, we get even less RPG elements, and more / better shooting action, then they have to completely nail the combat for me to enjoy it. If they don't, massive disappointment for me, but I'll live, and enjoy the story. It will be too bad, because the game could be so much more in that case.
  10. Sorry to bring this (now old) post up, but, you're wrong, they are, in general. Yes, they have a different feel to them (thankfully, which is why I love Pixar), but it's a very fine distinction. Their target audience is roughly the same. If I have to guess at a specific distinction, it's that Dreamworks seem to be aimed at kids and teens, whereas Pixar is aimed at kids and their parents, which leads to "smarter" feeling films from Pixar. That said, I have mainly Up in my mind, where the first part, about their past, was just fantastic. The scene about the miscarriage was just heartbreaking. But this is an exception even for Pixar, probably the most dramatic scene they've ever made so far, although I really hope they do this more often now. Still, even when Pixar's films also feature funny animals, they still feel more genuine. Meh. On-topic: Saw Der Baader Meinhof Komplex yesterday. Not boring, quite dramatic, but I feel, even at almost 2,5 hours, it seems rushed. I think it would've suited the subject (left-extremists in Germany in the 70's) better if it was made into a mini-series. I'm not too fond of political subjects, but when I do watch something, I'd like to know the context. I don't think it particularly didn't explain certain things, but I would've appreciated some more background or explanations for certain actions of characters.
  11. Perhaps I should open up a scary stuff thread, but I found it hilarious.
  12. Haha. I guess Chairdriver is brilliant! I feel like making up some crap in the next mafia game.
  13. I dunno. There have been good redirectors. He hasn't been a nuisance so far, or has he?
  14. Haha, it is 3D.. But I don't consider it when I talk about 3D animation . Perhaps I should be more clear about that . I haven't seen it by the way, but it's supposed to be very good. Anyway, I like animation in general, whether it be 2D, 3D, or stop motion, although I prefer 2D I think. Perhaps it's getting a bit off-topic, but on the topic of 3D animation that doesn't feature "funny" animals, I'd like to show people a short by someone from Pixar. [Alma] (to bad I can't embed vimeo) More charm than anything Dreamworks has ever made, and I'd like to see more of this.
  15. What caused the recruitment? I missed that in the role descriptions.
  16. Haven't seen that, but I'm interested. But this didn't get a theatrical release. I can't name 1 other apart from Beowulf. Personally I can't watch it at all, or at least not a few years back. I'm far more forgiving when it comes to animation in videogames obviously, or fast SFX in live-action films. I think the big issue to me is when I watch mo-capped facial animation on TV or the big screen. But even that gets better every time.. Some games do it well, but again, I set a lower standard for videogames, since it works in a lower poly environment probably. I was (we were?) talking about 3D animation specifically, I'm haven't kept up with French 3D animation, I recall Kaena which was nice but had its flaws. If we're talking 2D then obviously there are more options. Perhaps you're thinking of the new Sylvain Chomet, which I haven't seen yet.

  18. Well, like I said, I'm in the minority, so that pretty much settles it.
  19. My favourite 3D animation apart from Pixar films would be Final Fantasy: Spirits within. I can't believe to this date there hasn't been another "serious" 3D animation. It's either a bunch of animals, or it's Pixar. I love Pixar, but I sometimes want something else, something which.. What is it, Fox? And especially Dreamworks, aren't providing. And no, I don't consider the likes of Beowulf 3D animation.
  20. But I don't consider it a gamebreaking role, if you use that argument than an investigator is even more broken. If there's only 1, and he/she dies, are you going to cry? No. I personally don't think it's an essential gamemechanic. Like I said, you can still make a good guess, and it affects town and mafia alike.
  21. Which I forgot to comment about.. Personally, I think I actually don't mind having no alignment reveal. But it's obvious I'm in the minority. It makes it slightly more "realistic". The host can (and has if I understand right) introduceds abilities to compensate for this.. And generally, you can assume anyone who gets killed is town, then you can factor in known or speculated vigilantes and redirectors.. You won't know for sure, but you still have a guess.
  22. Hmmz. I like how much though and effort went into the roles.. I like getting them as pictures in the role PM, although all of them together (plus the fake roles) makes it hard to read in your roles post. I can't really say anything about the balance, I died to early for that, not knowing what actually happened, and didn't closely follow the rest of the game. I think I agree with ReZ, that town, or at least I, was shit.. I really didn't feel in form when I was still around. On the one hand, I kept thinking I just should've revealed all the info I had when I had the chance, but on the other hand, even now I know the alignments, I still don't know what good this would've done. For those who want to know, my info was: [1] ReZ: song of passing [2] Dyson: small negative zone [3] Nintendohnut: scavenge Night 4 I attempted to target Esequiel.
  23. God damn motherfuckers.
  24. But something makes you sure they attempted to kill you. Ellmeister claims to have jailkept Nintendohnut (I think), Dannyboy claims he has been laying his traps, Angus was somewhere else. Anyway, off to bed.
  25. Again nothing particular from me.. No PM. (and since I wasn't online yesterday, I'd like to take this opportunity to stress that I wasn't attempting to steal your key Fierce. For God's sake. Might as well not bother anymore, I don't protect against kills, and people don't appreciate it when I target them anyway. If I stole anything, I'm sure somebody will announce it here in the thread) Anything specific mentioned in yours, Cube? About your fight?
