General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion

I know it's still early days, but how does it compare to previous Pokémon games? -
So if there was a Nintendo Direct happening this week we would've heard about it by now, right? Or have they ever announced one on the same day?
-
I'm sure Nintendo have come up with loads of great ideas, but I still think off-TV play is the primary reason why they don't embrace using the GamePad in unique ways.
-
Well it's new info to me, that or I just forgot (quite possible ). It really is. And I'm very surprised that Retro/Nintendo couldn't come up with anything. I reckon it would've been a great way to do the bonus stages. DK & Co. could've blasted out of a barrel towards the TV screen and then appeared in the GamePad for a mini-game, while the level was still running on TV (with the enemies walking around looking confused ). Or better yet, DK could jump to the GamePad and leave his buddy on the TV and the bonus game would require you to flick between the two in some way. Another idea (if Cranky wasn't playable) would be to have Cranky Kong on the GamePad at all times, hurling abuse at DK, laughing when he dies etc... And providing tips/items if you fail a level too many times. Or it could've just been used as a way to show your collections/stats. Every time you picked up a banana it could have swooshed on to the GamePad screen, causing it to fill up with nanas that eventually move on to the TV, obscuring your view until you tap on the touch screen to eat some and lower the pile.

I'm actually pleased by that info. Obviously I'd prefer the GamePad to be used in a creative way, but if it isn't then yeah, it should just be blank/off. It's annoying when playing a game with the Pro Controller/Wii Remote and having the GamePad on (especially if it's just mirroring the TV) for no reason other than to drain the battery.

Not sure the situation is quite that bad for Nintendo just yet. They really do need to make a choice one way or the other though, and then really focus on getting stuff sorted. Personally I don't think they should drop the GamePad.
-
Yeah, probably in one of those cardboard backed envelopes with "do not bend" on it... that Royal Mail will no doubt ignore. Get your 3D turned on.
-
Just make sure you don't give in to the dark side.
-
Wow, that good ey? Guess I should check out the whole game sometime then.Of course I'll now hold you personally responsible if it isn't one of the best gaming experiences of my life. It certainly looks more like a Nintendo game than most PS exclusives, yeah. Not that long ago at all actually:

Gotta be a Nintendo Direct this week surely?... I mean they must have something to at least put on eShop before DKTF comes out at the end of February. Flipnote 3D, Chibi-Robo, Pocket Football Club? ... GIVE US SOMETHING NINTENDO!!
-
I've played the demos, didn't really get either of them though... They both look very nice (Journey especially) but gameplay wise they seemed a bit dull. Obviously the kind of games that you need to be in the right mood for though, perhaps I'll try 'em again sometime.
-
It's a bloody long time for us to wait though, however you look at it. Oh well, good that it's coming out in Europe at least. I'd definitely prefer to play this on Wii U though, so hopefully that is also in the works.
-
Right, thanks for the info. Cheers.I didn't unlock that many while still playing story mode, but I'm really into survival mode now (got the gold trophy for surviving over 100 years yesterday) so I'm going to unlock as many as I can from now on. :awesome: Yeah, it seems to be. There are a few kicking about on eBay, prices seem all over the shop though.

Early 2015 is only 6 months away?

Cheers for the suggestions, Dcubed. Wow, I had absolutely no idea that PS1 games were playable on PS3! *starts hunting down PaRappa the Rapper* Hehehe, you're not gonna let me forget about that one, are you? To be honest I've also been waiting for it to drop in price. It was getting close to bargain bucket levels, but then Nintendo went and messed up the plan by announcing/releasing that special DLC. It's since been full price everywhere, and likely to stay that way now too.

Everybody's Golf (PS3) Amazing game. So much content too for a downloadable title (or was this also a retail game?... Not sure ). But yeah, a really enjoyable golf game, one of the best I've ever played. I'm not very good at it though (as @Cookyman will attest to ), in fact I actually had to use "Easy Mode" to beat the last few challenges on silver and gold level. Tokyo Jungle (PS3) Would've beaten this game a long time ago, but I hit a brick wall in the form of a stealth mission late on in the story mode. I hate stealth gameplay with a passion! Anyway, I finally managed to pass that annoying stage last night, and the remaining action stages were no trouble at all, so that's the story mode complete. I tell you what, if a sequel to this game appears on PS4 I'll be seriously tempted to pick one up. And that's my current PS3 backlog complete. Time to pick up some more cheap as chips games to play during the drought until DKTF is released on Wii U.

Indeed. Even more so considering you'd be paying more for the game, probably not getting in on the release date, and possibly not even getting the pre-order bonus, a la SM3DW cat sleeve.
-
Gameplay wise it's basically Resident Evil + Metal Gear Solid. It is a good game, but I still think it's been pretty overrated to be honest. The presentation is definitely the best thing about it. Yeah, like "get on the fucking pallet" over and over again.
-
We looking at the same pics? Because I see the outline in both of those. I'm thinking they be the real deal.
-
Another one to add to my wish list, can't believe I forgot about that!
-
I still think this is going to be released a lot sooner than most people are expecting. So yeah, wouldn't be at all surprised if it was out around June, or even earlier.

The majority of stuff that I'd love to see on the 3DS is already in existence, just not available in Europe unfortunately. Stuff like... Flipnote Studio 3D, Monster Hunter 4, Chibi-Robo! Let's Go, Photo!, Tomodachi Collection: New Life and Daigasso! Band Brothers P. As for new games, it's no secret that I'd love a sequel to WarioWare D.I.Y. a new game in the Tingle RPG series (or just a localisation of the 2nd DS game would be good) I also think Game Boy Remix would be an awesome downloadable title. Oh, and I'm still hoping we'll see Outrun 3D on the eShop too. But yeah, obviously a new F-Zero, Metroid, Star Fox, Advance Wars, Punch Out!! etc would all be very welcome as well.

I'm not even sure if there's going to be a prize for the best drawing. But yeah, there are some incredible artists on Miiverse, so it'll be cool to see what they come up with for this. Yeah, apparently SketchPad was just a small portion of the full software. I've not heard anything about the full version though. I imagine it's still on the way, but who knows. The problem with SketchPad (like you mentioned) is the save limitation, it's only possible to save around 12 (I think) drawings at a time in the actual software. Obviously you can save as many as you like via Miiverse posts, but at a reduced resolution, plus you can't import those back into the software.

Nice one! It's never too late.
