True actually. Think I just played Battle Mode a heck of a lot less on those versions. Anyway, still not fussed about Battle Mode in MK8. It's all about GP, TT, and the N-E League. :awesome:
-
Word.
-
...or in reviews... or on Nintendo's official website... or on Miiverse, etc... All of these things materialised... TOO SOON!!!! Pretty much. Battle mode hasn't been decent since SMK/MK64.
-
Sure would. Perhaps get Barkle into the mix as well. I was contemplating picking up one of the PS3 versions of Dynasty Warriors at some point before this game releases, any idea which is the best version out of 6, 7, or 8?
-
It's not so much about the amount of content that's out there, but rather how soon it was revealed. For anyone that's been following the game, the hype levels have peaked (gone off the charts actually ) but there's still over a week to wait. So yeah, that excitement becomes frustration. Just wanna play the damn game already!

There's literally only 1 thing that I've managed to resist spoiling for myself concerning this game, which is the staff credits sequence/music, and even that is floating around on multiple websites. There needed to be way more control over coverage for MK8. But obviously Nintendo are in a pickle when it comes to Wii U so they appear to have encouraged the gaming press to share as much info/media as possible, and in doing so the game has become overhyped beyond belief. The hype has turned into tripe.

Yep... ...every time I go on Miiverse.
-
True, doesn't make it any less annoying though. But I think the worst thing of all was lifting the review embargo so damn early and activating the Miiverse community. That opened the floodgates and we've been drowning in information/media from the game ever since. Well, you haven't because you were smart/strong enough to avoid it, but not everyone has that kind of willpower. Personally I think reviews shouldn't have gone up until a week before the release date, and the Miiverse community and features like MKTV's YouTube uploading should have been running privately until the 30th.

It's actually starting to kill the buzz a bit now. Really hope Nintendo don't pull this shit again, not that I'd ever anticipate another Wii U game as much as MK8 anyway... I mean if there was ever a time when they needed to stick to their "quick announcement/launch" thingy it was now. The Wii U hasn't seen a decent retail game in months, and they seem to think this is a good idea:
-
MEGATON!... For me at least
-
Yeah. I wonder if the situation with Wii U would've been different had that been the launch title instead of Nintendo Land... They're probably going to release 'em together to limit the amount of free trials. Looking forward to checking out boxing.
-
Let's. I know. Yep. Correct. ... How about the very reason I was originally pointing out? Do you seriously reckon Nintendo couldn't get MK8 running in a 5 player mode if the game had graphics similar to those of SASRT? Expecting both super high quality visuals and 5 player is a big ask.
-
I meant in terms of it being full screen and 60fps, instead of half a screen and (potentially) 30fps. I think so, yeah. However I could be wrong, and I sure as hell couldn't explain it in any technical detail. @Dcubed, help!

I'm saving this game for a potential future drought, cool to see it's going down well.

Not to downplay the issue being discussed here, but I do find it kinda funny how people were recently having a go at Nintendo for focusing too much on local multiplayer over online, and now that we get a game from them where the superior way to play against others is online, people kick off about aspects of the local multiplayer. Nah, the split screen image on the GamePad is still just a single video stream. Having the GamePad show a different view to that of the TV screen would have a much greater impact on the system. Well, let's not forget about the difference is visual quality between the two. Sonic racing was an OK looking game, but MK8 is on another level entirely. Hell, it's almost as if they're games from 2 different console generations.

My favourite quote from Iwata, and IMO he was/is 100% right. It's a shame the majority of the industry choose not to see it that way. LOL! @44:22 you can just about hear that nutter shouting "who's the man!" when Miyamoto appears on stage. I gotta post that vid now: Even if Nintendo were still doing live press conferences, that reaction could never be topped.
-
The most ridiculous thing is that if you press the home button after it lights up, it will then show that information on the GamePad screen, e.g. "whatshisface has just come online". So the notifications are always there, just completely hidden away. There should definitely be an option to have them display on the TV screen. I reckon that if enough people kicked up a fuss on Miiverse (like the 50/60Hz VC games fiasco) Nintendo would fix it in a system update. But there's unlikely to be that amount of protest over this, in which case they will remain oblivious.
-
But doesn't that mean you can have one player on the GamePad screen?
-
The Welcome Cup is now running until the 1st of June! Just played my first Welcome Cup matches (you're limited to 3 per day for some reason ) and RedShell FC is currently ranked 91. :awesome:
-
I believe you can, but it simply duplicates whatever is on the TV screen at all times, so it'll be split screen on the GamePad as well.
-
They're available online here & here, insane price though! But if you're on about availability from a retail store, then I guess they've always been pretty hard to find there.
-
Yeah. I mean it wouldn't be as bad if they hadn't ended the review embargo so early, opened the Miiverse community, enabled MKTV vids on YouTube etc...Sure, they know they're on to a winner and want to promote MK8 as much as possible, but for those of us that don't require reviews/advertising to know we want (or in my case, NEED ) the game, it's basically a form of torture.
