OK, cheers everyone. All of that stuff has been added. : peace: Here's hoping there's a lot more to add next week.

I cannot wait for the inevitable All Luigi League theme night. In fact, @lostmario let's make that the first theme please!

Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy Curtain Call (3DS)
RedShell replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Do we know the track list for this yet? All I need to know is if this is in: If it is I'll probably get this at launch, if it isn't then Square Enix can do one. -
This Luigi Death Stare thing is becoming more and more hilarious. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=828919 I've actually started playing as Luigi the most now, in the hope of capturing some of his stares of death on MKTV.
-
That's what I did this gen with the PS3, and will likely repeat it with the PS4 in a few years. That's the plan at least, but obviously if Nintendo go and have another disastrous drought on Wii U then I might have to get one sooner. Will know for sure next week I guess.

Amazing post. And you're right about Mario's voice, he's definitely extra excited in MK8. I'll tell you what some of my minor niggles with the audio are, the sound your kart makes when cornering in anti-gravity... it's so much like the sound of a red/green shell spinning towards you. Another one is the sound of coins being thrown to the road on tracks like Dry Dunes and N64 Rainbow Road, always makes me think a Bob-omb is being thrown instead. BTW, I didn't know about the rewind duplication thingy in MKTV, but have just been messing about with it and it's so much fun. And in doing so I also discovered that you shouldn't play any replays from Twisted Mansion in reverse. Scary stuff... 666% scary.

Not for me, but I get the feeling it could be for quite a few people, especially those that go into it expecting a traditional video game.
-
I'm not really seeing the problem with TT, apart from the fact it's pretty bloody slow to load. But it does load (eventually ) and gives you a lot of different ghost data to choose from:
-
Yeah, I've reviewed this for N-E (should be going up soon) and have to agree with @Mike, it does become very repetitive. I personally really enjoy it, but it's definitely not going to be everyone's cup of tea, and anyone expecting the next Animal Crossing will probably be pretty disappointed.
-
Yep, in system settings. The default is every hour, the max is 24 hours.
-
Well, I've enabled standby mode... for now. Set it to check for stuff at 12 hour intervals. I suppose there's always a chance they might do something cool during E3.
-
Yeah, and that kind of stuff is pretty cool. I dunno, think I've just been put off with Wii Connect 24 and SpotPass on 3DS, both of which never seemed to be worth leaving the system on standby for.
-
It's a shame that you need to enable standby to make use of the quick start. I also never leave my Wii U on standby. That would've been amazing. Imagine being able to receive notifications from friends on the GamePad screen, even when your Wii U is off! :awesome: Yeah, it's definitely not the power consumption that stops me from using it, more the fact that there's just no point to leaving the system in standby. If Nintendo allowed for friend notifications in standby, then that would be a different story and I'd enable it straight away.

General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion

I just lapped someone in the no items community. That's enough MK for me tonight I think.
-
So I just spent an hour or so playing this online... In a NO ITEMS custom community. Now usually playing with no items in Mario Kart bores me to death, but it turns out that it's pretty damn fun in this version. MK8 is actually a fantastic pure racing game. :awesome: And it's not just a case of getting an early lead and your guaranteed to win either, there are still loads of aspects that can drastically change the flow of each race. Slipstreaming and Spin Turbos get taken to an entirely new level. And obviously there are still many course hazards that can mess you up too. One of the races I played on Rainbow Road was particularly awesome. I was knocked off the track right at the beginning and therefore in last place, but I managed to drive like a nutter and go on to win it, on the very last corner! :awesome: Exhilarating stuff I tells ya. Everyone should check it out. https://miiverse.nintendo.net/titles/14866558073268532636/14866558073301091646 It's a nice way to have a break from the insanity of worldwide, but also a great way to collect coins (you're basically guaranteed to finish each race with the full 10).
-
It was actually full of fuck ups but never mind. Have a listen to this: What do you think of the E3 version now? The E3 rendition was always going to be a disaster because you basically have a couple of people who probably hadn't played the game much at all (not to mention have questionable rhythm ) doing a live performance. Anyone that has spent significant time with Wii Music will be able to tell you that pulling off something like that is incredibly difficult/borderline impossible. It can take hours of practice and overdubbing before you get results similar to those in the vid I posted above. People like to view Wii Music as this super simplistic piece of piss game, but the reality is it's an incredibly challenging and deep title.

So yeah, my Pro Controller definitely didn't like the marathon MK8 session I've had this weekend, the left analog stick is now messed up. I started noticing that my kart would occasionally move to the side even though I wasn't trying to turn. It's absolutely fine when there's no input at all, but the slightest movement in any direction causes it to move left by itself. Tested it on the Wii U menu with the cursor too, if I push up (even slightly) the cursor starts drifting to the left. So I've now switched to the GamePad, not as comfy to hold, but at least I have precise control again. Might open up the Pro Controller soon, see if I can tinker with it.
-
So it turns out that nobody can see or hear when you toot the horn while playing online. What in the actual hell? Making the other racers jump out of their kart is super entertaining. In other news, custom tournaments are officially useless for the League.
-
Check this out:http://www.mariowiki.com/Mario_Kart_8#Driver_base_stats Hehehe! I'd forgotten about that. Anyway, found the green shell moment: : peace:
-
I wasn't exactly karting at my usual standard either. It's a completely different ball game when playing this online, the hectic nature of 12 players makes it very difficult to play consistently well.
-
Just had another awesome session playing online. This game is just as mental as MK Wii was online, perhaps even more so. The N-E League is certainly going to be interesting this time around, put it that way. And it looks like we're going to have another great player in the form of @Glen\-i.

Ready to roll!: :awesome:
-
Yeah, strange omission. It's my own recording. The slomo on the banana and Wario's weird air stunt was done on PC (forgot to use the MKTV one while capturing ) but the fastforward/slomo on the last part with my Mii was done using MKTV. The analog speed control you get in MKTV is incredible. :awesome: It is a shame it can only be used while viewing on Wii U though and not for YT uploads, but Nintendo like to keep things simple so it's not really surprising.
-
Looks like it, yeah. I've 3 starred everything, 50cc, 100cc, 150cc and mirror, but no stars. Anyway, some of my MKTV highlights : MK8's game engine is just something else! Absolute wizardry.
