  1. Hehehe. How many hours do you reckon you'll get out of this version in total then? Think I played Tri and 3U for about 500 hours each! With the increased amount of large monsters in 4U, the time required to "complete" it, could actually be close to 1000 hours! That's a lot of 3DS charges/hand cramp. OMG! What is that, and is it as awesome as the box art suggests?
  2. Yeah, Wii U is definitely experiencing a drought: http://n-europe.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1728768#post1728768 The next retail game I get will be Splatoon... in May. Absolutely shocking. It's a repeat of last year's 3 month gap between DK and MK8. In fact it's even worse, as I got Captain Toad last year!
  3. Cheers guys, added those to the list.
  4. I've also played mostly offline, and have now hit the 7* village quests (45 hours playtime). While there's no doubt that MH is a great laugh in multiplayer, I actually really do like the single player as well. And I get a much greater sense of achievement in successfully hunting the difficult monsters on my own, especially having to rely on low rank weapons and armor. OK, I've got my Palicoes with me, but in my usual team, one of them is a gatherer and doesn't fight at all, and the other one spends most of the time hitting the gathering Palico for "slacking". Really enjoy training them though. My main Palico is currently at Lv 20, and the rest are between Lv 8-16. I can now send my little Meownster Hunters on high-rank quests too! And that's something I try to do as often as possible, as the Palico weapons and armor in this are so adorable. You can tell I enjoy Monster Hunter for all the wrong reasons.
  5. Group 1: : peace:
  6. Cleared Yakuza 4 last night! :awesome: I loved every minute of it, and so far it's definitely the most enjoyable game I've played this year. The best thing about it is just how batshit insane it is (exactly how I like my videogames ). You spend lots of time violently beating the crap out of people, but then all of a sudden you could be doing a makeover for a hostess girl... or playing ping-pong... or singing at karaoke bar... even having a conversation with some cats : It's beyond weird, and I love it. Amusing review by Zero Punctuation: Experiencing a game like Yakuza 4 makes the decline of Japanese game development even more saddening. The thought of a videogame industry without these kind of quirky titles is seriously depressing. Anyway... the diary so far:
  7. Guess which monster I captured earlier?...
  8. That will probably be the next of February's PS+ games that I check out, but I want to get Yakuza 4 wrapped up first. Must be pretty close to finishing that though, as my latest save file appears to be just before the point of no return.
  9. I'd love to know which genius at Capcom came up with the Meownster Hunters. Absolute legend whoever they are. Loving everything to do with the Palicoes in this actually. Wasn't too sure at first because they seemed a bit lacking in character compared to Cha-Cha, but they can be just as entertaining, and pretty useful too once you get some with good skills. :awesome: It's definitely another expert troll by the devs though, giving you companions that look and sound similar to the thieving Melynx. :p There have been several occasions where I thought I was about to get mugged, only to realise it was my Palico at the last minute! Incredible. So at the moment, how would you rate this version of Monster Hunter compared to rest? 750+ defense! Ridiculous.I'm quite proud of the fact that I cleared all of the village quests (up to 3 star) using just the initial armor, that only had only 5 defense. And I've since made it up to 5 star (currently 7 quests into that) using the low rank hunter set, at just 51 def. Is there no way to message people on your friend list anymore either? I took a quick look the other day, but couldn't see any such option.
  10. Playing as Ganon sounds like so much fun! Really curious as to what the new potions will do... Will Europe be getting this update next week as well?
  11. Sorry dude, I was already in two minds about going online, so when I saw you were already on a quest (and knowing I wouldn't be on for long anyway) I decided to join some randoms instead. The few online games I played last night reminded me just how tricky 4 player hunts can be. I spent more time getting attacked by the other players than the monsters. Also dished out more than my fair share of accidental launches with the hammer though. Brilliant. Holy shit! I'd cark it if I did a session like that these days.
  12. Really? I don't think anything could be easier/cheaper than replacing the "Pixel Toad" with pixel versions of all other amiibo. But Nintendo probably think keeping that feature exclusive to the Toad amiibo will help it sell... It won't though. Not to me anyway.
  13. Cheers for the reminder. I've now got my Palicoe kitted out with the Mario Bros. Hammer. Couldn't decide between the Mario or Luigi outfits though, so mixed it up with the Luigi hat and the Mario overalls.
  14. Old-school Wario is cool, but WarioWare Wario is AWESOME!! :awesome: So yeah, Smash Bros. Wario amiibo for me.
  15. Great choice of music on the eShop right now.
  16. Really enjoying this game, but the more I play it, the more I wish I was playing it on Wii U. Yeah, I know, I know... I keep going on about that, but it's because I'm so annoyed about it. Put around 6 hours into this yesterday (with plenty of breaks) and it completely did my hands/eyes/neck in. Can't see myself doing the same kind of continuous sessions that I did with MH3/U, I just find it way too uncomfortable playing for so long on the 3DS. But at the same time, it's so fucking addictive that I don't want to stop playing! That's also why I haven't ventured online yet, as I know once I do, it'll be even harder to stop myself playing it for hours on end. ...stupid Capcom. As for my thoughts on the game itself, well they're very positive indeed. It's like the same old Monster Hunter but (as others have already mentioned) it somehow manages to feel nice and fresh. The presentation is a bit odd though, and this could just be because I'm playing via the original 3DSXL, but the visuals are unbelievably random. And every so often (usually during monster introduction cutscenes, or in certain confined areas) the frame rate will increase dramatically! The additional smoothness during these events really sticks out compared to the usual in-game motion. But yeah, MH4U is still a truly great game, it's just on the wrong bloody hardware!! Sorry, that's it now. I won't complain about that anymore... maybe.
  17. From play-asia.com, was quite a while ago though. Awesome stuff. How much of the offline stuff do you need to do before you can hunt online? Just finished making my character (and cat ) and did the first village quest. The 3D effect in the cutscenes (especially the intro) is amazing!! Great to be back in the world of Monster Hunter!
  18. I finally beat Fire Emblem Awakening, just in time before Monster Hunter arrives (hopefully tomorrow ). There's no doubt it's a great game, but I didn't really enjoy it all that much. Never been a huge fan of turn-based strategy, and still very much prefer the style of Advance Wars to Fire Emblem. Been making quite a bit of progress on Yakuza 4 too, get the feeling that perhaps it won't take as long to finish as I originally thought. It's an incredibly cutscene heavy game, which I'm normally not keen on, but the story/characters are just so bonkers that I'm finding it really entertaining.
  19. Group 1: : peace:
  20. Enjoy! : peace:No early MH for me...
  21. We've still not seen all of the available customisation options in Xenoblade though. That vid I posted earlier just shows the preset face types and body size, but there appear to be at least 17 other options/menus in there. Today's update on the official site also seems to suggest that you can use face paint and masks too.
  22. That's a no then. Damn, that just confuses me even more. Anyway, we're going to be spending the majority of the time playing this game looking at the back of the character's head, so I guess it doesn't make much difference whether you like the faces or not.
  23. It's just the one drift challenge, nothing major.I hadn't actually played the game for quite a while, decided to play last night for a bit as I was waiting for the Resogun update to download.
  24. I still don't get the hate regarding the faces. I'm well aware that I'm very much in the minority in liking these designs (having seen the backlash on here and neogaf ) but I genuinely don't see what's wrong with them. Like I mentioned before, they remind me of Gerry Anderson's marionettes: Which are awesome. :awesome: Do the people that dislike the faces in Xenoblade Chronicles X also dislike the above? reggiewhat'swrongwithyou.gif
