  1. I called the Ravens to win the Super Bowl before it started. I don't bet anymore, I've got a problem.uk For starters, I never win. I was up 4 d 49ers on d night to prove I'm wrong. It was a good game, 49ers were better but too late & awful mistakes made. I'm happy for Lewis and Kapernick is a real find. He's got so much more too his game. Anyway goodnight and fair play to Ravens. Curse that blackout, I had to drink more than I intended.
  2. Get a life people. Who gives a £U€K about David Beckham?
  3. To continue on the subject of demo units in shops. While they look great and all, they had 19 titles on the unit and all but 1 were short videos. The 1 playable title? Rayman Legends, a game that wasn't due for release for at least another 3 months. That there encapsulates and highlights all their stupidity and mistakes with the Wii U. 18 unplayable games on a demo unit designed to showcase Wii U software. Take a bow Nintendo, take a bow!
  4. Funniest result of the night? Chelsea winning 2-0 with 3 minutes left and draw 2-2. Where are Reading in the league? Love it!
  5. I know Ireland doesn't compare in size to other markets but Wii U has a massive problem here as well.
  6. EA doesn't consider Wii U a next-gen console This blurb was spout out by EA during their fiscal earnings report... "What we're describing as gen four has yet to come." Nice to know that EA only considers graphical power the true next-gen qualifier with hardware. That's an opinion that'll surely take them far! http://gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=195217 From the same conference: "40 minutes into this EA investors call and I don't think they've mentioned Wii U once". https://twitter.com/jasonschreier
  7. LEGO City Undercover Features 15 Missions Total After having finished a hands-on experience with Wii U-exclusive LEGO City Undercover, CVG‘s Chris Scullion said the upcoming sandbox-style video game consists of 15 missions. While 15 may not seem like much for such a ‘huge’ game, Scullion said the first mission took him roughly an hour to complete. Other than the main missions, there are literally hundreds of items to collect or unlock, including 450 Gold Bricks, 40 Red Bricks and 110 Vehicles. On top of all that, to completely finish the game, players must find a total of 290 characters, and they have to put together all 65 Super Builds. LEGO City Undercover launches in Europe on March 28th and in North America on the 18th of that month. http://mynintendonews.com/2013/01/30/lego-city-undercover-features-15-missions-total/
  8. It got a vague Q1 release date a while ago but I haven't heard anything lately specifically regarding the Wii U version. Wouldn't they want to let the masses know it's on its way soon?
  9. Aliens: Colonial Marines - Tactical Multiplayer Trailer Still no sight of a Wii U boxart at the end of the video.
  10. How about this video so? This is the latest video for Aliens: Colonial Marines. Still no mention of the Wii U boxart at the end. News on this game has gone dead lately. People are starting to fear this game has been cancelled. Surely it can't be cancelled?
  11. Getting back to that irritating Wii U ad from the U.S. here it is in all it's glory: If you want to make the console look like a fisher-price toy and make peoples ears bleed, then mission accomplished.
  12. We are noticing some issues with the version of the patch that was posted that you guys are also reporting here on the forums. We are working with Nintendo on a resolution to this problem and hope to know more at some point tomorrow. I will keep you posted as I receive more information. We are aware that some of the menu listings from the 360's Revolution DLC drop are showing up in the game. This is not a confirmation of DLC for the Wii U, just a versioning problem that we are working to address. I do not want to publish the list of known fixes until I have confirmation that they are all live. I hope to be able to do this tomorrow, but as I mentioned, this is something we are working on with Nintendo, so the timeline isn't entirely in our hands. Thank you for understanding. A_Trey_U
  13. Nintendo's Return to Profit Thanks to Currency Changes But decline in sales is slowing... Nintendo has released its financials for the nine months from April 1st to to December 31st 2012 and the company is quoting a very uplifting set of figures, which indicate that it has - year on year - returned to profit. The figure being quoted by much of the media is the one for "Net income". This shows a positive of ¥14,545 million compared to the previous period of - ¥48,351 million (yes, minus). Excellent, but then we note the official statement by the company and match this to the trend of actual sales since 2008... The statement from Nintendo reads, "While Nintendo saw year-on-year increases in the sales of Nintendo 3DS hardware (up 11 percent YOY) and software (up 41 percent YOY), those gains were not enough to offset decreased sales of Wii and Nintendo DS hardware and software. "Furthermore, the strength of the yen averaged against the euro in the first nine months of Nintendo’s fiscal year contributed to an overall 2.4 percent year-on-year decrease in sales." Bad news on sales in fact. In fact, let's look more closely at sales using the figures given to us by Nintendo. Net Sales in millions of yen FY3/2009 - (Apr.-Dec.'08) - ¥1,536,348 (-) FY3/2010 - (Apr.-Dec.'09) - ¥1,182,177 (-¥354,171) FY3/2011 - (Apr.-Dec.'10) - ¥807,990 (-¥374,187) FY3/2012 - (Apr.-Dec.'11) - ¥556,166 (-¥251,824) FY3/2013 - (Apr.-Dec.'12) - ¥543,033 (-¥13,133) So, sales have consistently been down. That, for a company that makes money by making and selling physical things is not a good sign. However, the last nine month period has shown that the downward trend has eased significantly. But still not enough to show a rise on profit. So where did the return to profit come from? Nintendo points out that, "the company has returned to profitability in ordinary income and net income levels, driven primarily by foreign currency exchange gains." Our italics. Yes, fluctuations in currency exchanges which, as we're all aware can fluctuate negatively as well as positively, are by Nintendo's own admission, primarily responsible for its return to profitability. It further reinforces this and points out that: "Owing to the fact that the 'Wii U' hardware sales have a negative impact on Nintendo’s profits, the operating loss was 5.8 billion yen. As a result of exchange gains totaling 22.2 billion yen due to the depreciation of the yen at the end of calendar year 2012, however, ordinary income was 22.7billion yen and net income was 14.5 billion yen." So, on the one hand while Nintendo's figures and statements indicate a return to profit based on the notoriously flaky basis of foreign currency. On the other hand, the sales trend, while still downward, is significantly less steep in decline than previous periods. Before we go... some essential figures for hardware sales that can be used in future fanboy arguments. Apr-Dec 2012 vs Lifetime Nintendo DS - Hardware - 2.15 vs 153.67 - Software - 30.24 vs 930.55 Nintendo 3DS - Hardware - 12.71 vs 29.84 - Software - 39.56 vs 84.99 Wii - Hardware - 3.53 vs 99.38 - Software - 45.08 vs 863.53 Wii U - Hardware - 3.06 vs 3.06 - Software - 11.69 vs 11.69 Nintendo's Return to Profit Thanks to Currency Changes Nintendo to post unexpected loss as Wii successor falters Nintendo cuts Wii-U sales forecast This is something that nobody has mentioned here, Nintendo's return to profit has been mainly due to the depreciation of the yen in spite of the poor Wii U sales.
  14. Monolith Soft's X Discussion - Thoughts & Impressions (IS it Xenoblade Wii U?)
  15. True this. To add to the very little advertisements of Wii U on TV, whenever they were on, they sucked big time. The ads in the U.S. were worse and that awful grating music. This is how you don't attract hardcore gamers to your new platform.
  16. For starters bad marketing and very little advertising on TV. Then there's the games, inferior ports, old ports at full price, no improvement in visuals over PS3/XBOX360, more expensive than said consoles. As I said that's just for starters.
  17. @Serebii No. Those numbers don't tell the full story. The Wii was sold out everywhere and couldn't keep up with demand. The Wii U numbers are shipped numbers not the total sold as I'm sure you well know. Wii U's are sitting idle on shop shelves. Nintendo's forecast was realistic in their eyes. They've been in the red for the past while, I doubt they want to piss off shareholders any more than they have and miss more targets. You're contradicting yourself regarding N64 sales and saying the Wii U launch line-up was the best and largest yet. If it was so great and there were so many titles at launch. Then, how come the attach rates for Mario and NintendoLand are so high? With a larger spread of titles you'd imagine it would be lower? I'm sure this does wonders for the 3rd parties and their preconceptions of Nintendo fans who only buy Nintendo products.
  18. There's reports that beta testing of a HD Mario Sunshine is ongoing and that there is a solution to the analogue triggers problem. Whether that means another controller for Wii U, GC style or a USB adapter to allow current GC controllers to be used, we'll see.
  19. F-Zero GX is there's no sequel. Resident Evil 2 Majora's Mask Not sure if this should be done, it could be blasphemy to touch the holy grail of gaming but Super Metroid could benefit from a face-lift. 2.5D HD and orchestrated music. Will we ever see an original 2D Metroid on a home console again?
  20. No way, really? Wow, thanks for pointing out something we all didn't know already. Where would we be.....? Please try harder if you're going to troll. It's a simple question, open to public opinion. In my opinion the top photo is nicer as it's closer to the original cel shading. That opinion may change depending on development of the game. Nintendo tend not to release images of a game until they're happy with the look. The fact that these images have been released would probably mean that they're happy that the final game will look like this or very similar. Time will tell.
  21. Yes, they reviewed well. Famitsu reviewed them as: 3DS 38/40 (10/10/9/9) Wii U 35/40 (9/9/8/9)
  22. There will be no Tekken characters in Smash. "You shall not pass"!
  23. It's pretty much a straight port. There's a couple of additions like a new enemy, changing enemy location layouts and adding a new difficulty. Yes they should change their name to Portcom. Thanks for our 2 Wii U ports of 3DS games.
  24. What is this happy of which you speak? I know drunk, I'm a good acquaintance of drunk as of right now. I can see purty burds flying in the sky. This game alone rights all the wrongs of the world.
