I'd like to say Megaman but he's in the same boat as Snake. When was the last time he appeared? Gamecube, that's when. So no free publicity. Capcom support overall has been poor in the last generation on consoles. Pac-man was another possibility but then they haven't been great either. Only thing is they're helping to develop this game which may be their saving grace. As I said Rayman must be a shoe-in for all of Ubisoft's support and he's a very recognisable character. There's only room for 2 or 3 characters max from 3rd parties I'd say.
-
Then look at the 3rd party newcomers. Sonic was the gift that kept on giving and I think he'll be back. The other is A.W.O.L, I think he's still stuck in that box. Kojima gave the middle finger to Nintendo. Free publicity for his breadwinner and nothing in return. Nice, real nice! I'd say it's a safe bet to say that Snake won't be returning. I hope Nintendo remember that even if that leak with that list of games including Yoshi, Resident Evil and Metal Gear Solid is true. I bet who will be there is Shulk. 3rd party character wise, Rayman. Remember where you heard it first. Anybody want to hazard guesses what surprise newcomers there'll be?

That was a great reveal. If you have great reveals like that then it becomes tougher to trump its predecessor. So if the reveal is better than that then expectations will be insatiable for the one after that. You're on a hiding to nothing. The best reveal ever for me was Twilight Princess. People can debate the finished article but nothing tops its debut. Magic!

The following info supposedly comes from an inside source... - SEGA to reveal a new Sonic the Hedgehog game next month - won’t be announced until mid-February - due out on Wii U, PS3, 360, 3DS, PS Vita, PC, and “Next gen” consoles - console, PC and PS Vita versions will be identical aside from the graphical differences - 3DS version will be another Sonic Rush styled game - console version of this new game will be sticking with the recent formula - gameplay switches between full 3D movement and 2D side-scrolling sections - multiple routes through a stage - incentive to play through all routes - each route in a stage will lead to one of two or three exits - the end of each will take you to a different stage - you will always end up at the same final stage, though - working to make at least 20 different stages, not including boss battles. - begin the game with Sonic and unlock other characters to play as by completing stages - example: you might unlock Knuckles in any one of three stages. Sometimes, if you already have a character that would be unlocked first, a different one may be unlocked. - roughly 10 different characters to play with - no new characters - each character will have their own skills - example: Sonic and Shadow not being able to make it up a wall, while Tails can easily fly up there or Knuckles can climb - stages can be replayed with any character of your choice - 3DS info: “similar in idea, but smaller in scope” - devs are trying to fit all of the characters into the 3DS game, but it will feature far fewer stages - 3DS still features many paths through stages - 3DS will only ever branch off into 2 stages - been in the works since before Sonic Generations - due out this Fall/Autumn, or at the latest, Winter Just to flesh out that rumour. It's from the same source but it's expanded a little bit. http://www.sonicstadium.org/2013/01/rumour-sega-to-announce-new-sonic-game-next-month/

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Wii U / Switch
Wii replied to darkjak's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Burn Skyward Sword from the memory, more bad than good overall bar the motion controls. Twilight Princess is the perfect template. It just needs to be fleshed out some more in regards NPC's and things to do in the overworld(like the spinner and ball & chain needed more use, outside of their respective dungeons, hardly used, implement them in side quests more), Skyward Sword controls, HD and a little less brown. Job done. Perfect. -
Unless Nintendo have done a massive u-turn then player 1 will be using remote and nunchuk. I think player 1 will need the gamepad also so player 2 will have to use remote and nunchuk or pro controller. Or maybe a second gamepad will be able to link up by the time the game is released. It could be the game to promote second gamepad sales. Who knows?

It's no surprise Sonic is coming. The only surprise is it has taken this long to announce. Whereas most 3rd parties spat on the Wii we had Secret Rings, Black Knight, Unleashed, Colours, then there was Wiiware, Virtual console, not to mention the 3 Olympic games and last but not least Sonic in SSBB. Well I suppose All Star Racing Transformed counts.

Why is it that people complain that the Zelda formula is stale and needs change(Aonuma confirmed there will be changes in the next console Zelda in the video today) yet they lap up a remake of a game they've already played and has that same stale formula they've moaned about? Seems a little hypocritical to me.
-
It's all or nothing and it's non-reversible. I'm also not transferring my VC games either. Not really bothered, I've played them, completed them so I'm not compelled to play them again any time soon. It shouldn't be such hassle though.
-
Start it now and then maybe, just maybe you'll be finished by the time this comes out. Seriously it's a huge game.
-
I hope this turns out well but it's a bit underwhelming so far. It really is just a cut, copy and paste job. This game has been rumoured for a good while now. Yet add up the footage and it's only 13 seconds of actual gameplay from a tiny section of 1 level and it's very bland with nothing going on. This has to be the first level. You'd imagine they'd show more.

Give me a minute. Incoming......

I concur with everything Fierce Link has said. It's easily the best game on Wii, well maybe not easily but it's definitely the best game and the best game of the whole generation. This is different from alot of Japanese RPG's as it's not turn based which is a plus in my eyes.
-
I'd love to see a HD remastering of Majora's Mask on Wii U more than any other remake but seeing as the engine has been created for OOT on 3DS, it's odds on that it will appear there sooner or later.
-
I don't think this Nintendo Direct changes the way they generally are as a company. They're still a closed book. If things had been going to Nintendo's plan we wouldn't have seen this today. I think it's a little bit of panic setting in.
-
It's confirmed. This game has online multiplayer. Some of the screen grabs have been translated. I'll try to link the pic in a few minutes.

General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion
Wii replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in General Gaming Discussion
I don't think a price cut is a good idea. Well definitely not £100. The software will shift the Wii U units but the release schedule is fairly sparse. Those sales figures for Japan are not good. To be beaten by the PS3 and nearly beaten by PSP is worrying. I know it's early but it's emanating Vita vibes in certain markets. While the Nintendo Direct was generally good those games are a long way off. -
Honestly, this game was so underwhelming I'd already wiped it from my memory.
-
Seeing this game makes me wish that if they won't make a new F-Zero, then that they'd give F-Zero GX back to Amusement Vision to remake in HD. Add in online multiplayer. Job done, print, slap a price tag on it and watch the sales roll in. I'll be first in the queue.
-
Yep that looks like Shulk to me. That was the reason I think this is a sequel to Xenoblade.
-
Absolutely. Far better to know a game is coming and get a glimpse of what'll look like. Xenoblade sequel is a perfect example. I don't care if it doesn't come out until Christmas 2014, I'm just glad to know it exists and is coming. Gamecube Virtual Console is coming and they have a solution to the analogue triggers
-
I'm not sure if Epic Yarn style is the best fit for Yoshi. I think they wanted to reuse the KEY engine and just dropped Yoshi in. Crayola style would have been nicer. To me this is not as vivid.
-
I'd like if they add some new elements or areas to the game. I don't need to replay a game just because it's in HD. Maybe they could make their original vision of this game and add the dungeons that were cut.
-
Also worth noting is this will be released in the West. They know now there is an appetite for these games. No need for Operation Rainfall or the like. Unlike Xenoblade that was a touch and go title whether it would get released outside of Japan.
