In relation to games, I hate the "women are smaller and quicker" trope. Its just lazy. I've thought for a long time of making a half life mod with the player as a female freeman. All the same abilities. Just as capable of saving the day. The only difference being the way NPC's react to you. Instead of calling to you for help they fruitlessly sacrifice themselves trying to save you. I like the idea of the frustration of KNOWING you could do better but their perception stopping you from saving them. Games are a clear opportunity to let people understand the message without preaching to them. You make the rules! Make them experience the unfairness of gender divides by making biased game mechanics. Attractiveness as an aspiration makes me uncomfortable because it leaves you searching for approval from other people. It only exists in as much as people want to bang you. It seems difficult to develop self worth out of something that depends on other people for feedback.

I'm pretty darned sure that Rummy is good. If he did what I think he did then there's no doubt. Also, townie lynch bomb works mechanically. If anyone was going to cast the last vote on a townie surely it would be a mafia to make sure of the townie kill before someone withdraws their vote.

Big fan of learning random stuff. Bout 4/5 months ago bought myself a ukulele. Pretty impressed with the random little ditties that have resulted even if they're all unrelated and I have no idea how to string them out to full songs. Goafer, I take it you don't know this girl too well other than half conversations at gigs and little chats on facebook? She might be a total bitch. Then again she might not be. Someone's been forced to kill. Either the mafia luckily redirected a killer (though that should mean that their own killer killed as well), redirected their OWN killer to avoid suspicion or that rather than have a kill power they can make anyone they choose do the killing. As for armour appearing... armour? though I don't believe she would be click clacking. The drawn picture is Northstar but I'm not sure how useful it is at the moment. I think its all part of some meta-narrative thing that hurts my brain at the moment. Something about us all being figments of a kids imagination?

I don't know how much can be aimed at the game itself. I'm assuming the LAN would have been organised by an external marketing company, even if EA did pay for it. More disappointing is the assumption that it's OK to be a massive dick when playing games online, whether its to a male or female. The fact that there are people that choose to spend their free time spouting abuse at randoms makes me lose a little more faith in people in general.

Hmm... I have little confidence. Live action captain planet... either he's going to be crappy CG or ... I don't know how well the overt "hands round the world" messaging of 5 multi-national teenagers fighting evil corporations to save the environment will go down. I would have hoped that some subtlety would have been developed over 20 years. I have doubts as it is and then they say that its the same people who made transformers, shoot-em up and league of extraordinary gentlemen. If they could fail to make giant robots interesting I doubt they can make kids/anyone care about recycling by using a mulleted smurf in red pants.

One of those games that I've always meant to play. Shall get on it. Though I will say... all that talk of dans does make it sound pretty intimidating

Many thanks to McPhee for server space. Was it an open game? If we get enough regular players could password it and cut some of the auto balence. I found pyro one of the hardest to play. Very much gotta play ambush and then run away to stay alive. Only really started doing well with degreaser/axetingusher combo.

Bard, I've been looking out for stalker for quite a while. The concept of a shooter where the gun is used more for self defence than shooting bad dudes in the face cause they disagree with you excites me.. a little too much (might be way off base but that's what it is in my head). Never been much of a strategy fan but having spent a few hours watching my brother kick the shit out of Gandhi in Civ5 over the weekend my interest was piqued.
