I don't think it's because they're faster, it might just be because of the inside drifting some of them have. You can take some insanely sharp corners with practice. Don't underestimate coins either, they make quite the difference.
-
Yep, pretty much. (Still haven't played it. I'm not the biggest Star Fox fan though, so eh...)
-
I do remember it being like that. But come on, you'll know deep down it won't feel quite complete. Because you and I are nuts about things like that.
-
No, no, no, no. Lylatwars would not have even half of it's charm without the corny voice acting. "Gee! I've been saved by Fox, how swell!"
-
Well, that came out of nowhere! One of my favourite Game Boy Colour games by a long shot. Someone's forgetting about the Phantom Cards! You can never get this Venusaur without multiplayer. (There's also a Mew one, but it sucks, so no-one cares.)
-
Thanks very much. Also, SHUT UP!

Right, can't let @Aneres11 have all the spotlight! Let's get artistic! This is something that I noticed. The example pictures are not as perfect as they were in Art Academy, which is great. I've had a few of those moments when I thought, "Mine's actually cleaner then Andy's" Anyway, for comparisons sake, here's my Bulbasaur lesson attempt. He's mad because he has no background. (Nothing wrong with using the backgrounds provided, they're bloody difficult to do!) Anyway, for my first Free Paint picture I tried to draw a Shiny Sandslash. ... GODDAMN IT!
-
That's definitely the best way to handle it. Experimentation with tools will help you to improve, but not if you don't learn the basics first. DS Art Academy was actually how I got into drawing as a hobby. You will be honestly amazed at how some of your later pictures will turn out after some of the lessons. And there is nothing wrong with a cartoony style. It's one of my favourite ways of colouring!

Wow, great job! Looks just as good as mine! Believe me, your posts are gonna be positively refreshing once I get my work posted. I'm wondering, have you ever tried the traditional Art Academy games before? Because it'd be interesting to get some views of this from someone who hasn't. I've never found myself wanting to do the Mini Lessons as much as I have here. They're handled way better than in the other games, where it just dumped you in with a handful of pointers. You might as well have just have done it on Free Paint. So kudos to that. Makes them more engaging, which is great for honing what the main lessons have just taught you. Those drawings your "rival" does are surprisingly effective for comic relief. I genuinely laughed out loud at some of them. That Piplup, man! So far, I've finished the Togepi lesson and done the 9 mini lessons up to that point. I've also done 3 pictures on Free Paint which I'll be sharing here soon. Probably tomorrow. For the sake of your sanity, I don't think I'll post my lesson pictures here, unless I experiment a bit.

This can only end badly... Oh god! It's Flipnote 3D all over again!

Heh, that's a nice nod there. But now I'm wondering why Vince has never mentioned Andy before. In fact, why aren't there any pictures of Andy in Vince's Academy? What if Vince is ashamed of Andy because he draws nothing but Pokemon? Are Pokemon even real in this!? The two Art Academys obviously exist in the same universe, but why don't we ever see them when Vince is teaching? Maybe it's all in Andy's head... MAYBE THIS WHOLE WORLD IS A LIE! EDIT: YES! In your face, watermark! You have been utterly defeated through the power of normal Miiverse upload procedure! All I'd have to do is crop out the borders on any old programme and it's sorted! A shame that the resolution takes a hit... It looks just great on a 3DS, but compared to the high resolution pictures above this post. I can't ignore it... *Sigh* I guess I'll just have to accept it... I've had a bit of a play around with the tools in Free Paint. First things first... It sounds like such a small thing, but having 4 levels of zoom options makes a huge amount of difference! The Undo tool is also welcome in my opinion. Yeah, it's unrealistic, but for the sake of convenience, I'm more than happy to go with it. The layer pen makes no sense, but I'm not gonna complain. I also noticed that the presentation is a lot more slick in that 10 minute lesson at the start. It was actually quite jarring to see a transition animation after being so used to traditional Art Academy. I'll probably get used to it, but it feels odd. Gonna actually go and draw a proper picture now. I really do hate that watermark. I actually want to complain on Miiverse.

Wow, honestly amazed at the severe lack of bees in there. But remember, each character has multiple weapons. (Link has the Fire Rod, Master Sword, stuff like that.) Maybe bees are just too awesome to give you straight away? There's still hope!
-
I know this is utterly mean of me to say, but I can't help but feel that your site is partly to blame for that. It's still a good picture, mind.
-
It's called Smash Run. I know what you mean, I just couldn't resist.
-
Well, I guess I could work around it by using the screenshot feature while I'm working on the picture. You know, finish the picture, don't save and quit, post the screenshot on Miiverse the old fashioned way and use that. It's a shame. Would have been nice to use those better resolution pictures. But forced watermarks are obtrusive, especially when they aren't even remotely transparent. OK, it's a little bit transparent, but it's still pretty bad.
-
Is there any way to get rid of that watermark on the bottom right? Because it's utterly horrible. If it's just a Miiverse thing, fair enough. But if it's unavoidable...
-
Well, for the sake of my sleep, I'm gonna resist until tomorrow morning. Fair warning: I WILL show my work on this... even if I know no-one wants to see.

They know what I want. Groudon's my favourite Pokemon. I actually thought this was coming out next week. Well chuffed now!

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Wii U / Switch

I'm sorry for putting more Zelda comparisons on this, but... I feel like this is a pretty well thought-out comparison. (The guy who did this does mostly fantastic critiques) It's definitely worth a look. (This was before Link Between Worlds, so keep that in mind.) EDIT: There we go! I always forget to take the first part of the address out. -

He really does hate Skyward Sword, huh? I kinda like Skyward Sword. Yeah, it's incredibly hand-holdy. But I love the combat. I'll miss that. So very much. -
Most of the time when I play with others, it's normally with Random Stage, Random Characters. It's my favourite way of playing Smash. Sure, I do have mains in each game (Lucas in Brawl, Lucario in Project M, Pikachu in 64 and Pichu in Melee), but playing like this is a great incentive to get better with characters I'm not comfortable with. Even if I never get decent with Diddy. (Seriously, I love Diddy, but getting lumped with him in Brawl is like an instant death sentence to me)

Holy crap! He actually finished it? Maybe Game Grumps will actually go back and give Link To The Past another go now. EDIT: He pretty much has the same major gripe I have with OOT. The waiting. Oh, the amount of waiting! It really does slow down the game a bunch. I think it's more a case of not being able to react in time when something suddenly appears from off-screen. So what if you saw it earlier? You can't possibly know where it is all the time in OoT where in LttP, it's easier to keep track of these things. OK, you definitely missed the point here. He said it makes it more complex. It adds a lot more to the combat then LttP could ever hope for. I've always preferred LttP and I enjoyed this video. -
OK, I'm gonna try and get my replies up without a humongous wall of text this time. That's pretty much how I feel. I have once been accused of being unskilled just because I mentioned that I prefer to have items on. It was totally uncalled for. (Didn't happen on this forum, mind) Probably because of the minority (Yes, it is a minority) of people who go out of their way to insist that the competitive way is the only way to play Smash. That Brawl is "unplayable" because it's not Melee. It's one thing to prefer Melee, that's opinion. Totally OK with that. But actually claiming Brawl is a terrible game is completely and utterly unfair. Yes, it has it's faults, but I like the more defensive style of play. I feel Melee is a bit too restricting on that front. And if you disagree, fine. I understand that. But if someone decides that therefore, I'm "an idiot who knows nothing about Smash Bros" (Yes, that quote was said to me once) based on that, yes, I'm going to hate that person's attitude and it's going to make the community as a whole look less appealing. OK, fair enough. I had no idea who any of these people were. But now I just feel sorry for the other player who missed out because of that. I think you're giving most of them too much credit here. The only one who seemed to be any good at the game was Zelda Williams. And I think you're being a bit too harsh here. Sure, I remember that Link player just being dreadful, but the others had some understanding of Smash. I'm sure they play Brawl or Melee or even 64 now and again for a laugh. "Absolutely" might be a tad strong, but you pretty much got it. (Then again, I have the feeling we both knew this already, we just like Smash discussion) Just bear it in mind if you ever Smash online with me. Because I will turn items on and choose random stages at every opportunity.
-
Nope, not at all. And judging from that comment, I probably shouldn't.
-
Look, I've got nothing against competitive Smash. More props to you if you find it fun. I just hate it when it's force-fed down my throat. It really says something when I was genuinely surprised that there were items in Project M. I also hate the notion that some people have that just because I think competitive Smash is boring, I don't "get it" The Invitational was enjoyable, once it actually got to the one-on-one fights, where it was clear that the competitors were in their comfort zone. Some genuine intensity happened in that final and it was fun to watch. Even with the time wasting at the end... That's why I don't like a time limit on stock matches. But there were some cringe-worthy moments that were just plain embarrassing. That Mega Man player who flat out refused to use items looked positively amateurish. And don't even get me started on that moment when Fox got voted through on audience votes when he clearly performed the worst. Those are the kind of people I hate. I have never wanted to punch so many people at once before in my life.
