  1. Best Boss Battle Those bosses in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate are pretty challenging, huh? I suppose a lot of them have a good argument for best boss battle. But mate, if you've only played Ultimate, you don't know hard Smash Bosses... What is this nightmare, and why is it in my silly Nintendo fighting game!? Master Core (Super Smash Bros. For WiiU) laughs in the face of every other Smash boss in history. It's a... thing(?) that bursts out of Master Hand if you whack the intensity (difficulty) up in Classic Mode high enough. Unlike most of Ultimate's bosses, higher intensity doesn't just make ol' core faster and stronger, it gives it more forms! Master Giant is a colossus that can literally lift up the entire stage, Master Beast occupies half the stage and doesn't shy away from leaping on top of you, then you have to deal with Master Sabres, 5 massive swords that'll make you wish you never complained about the Fire Emblem characters. Beat all of them? Cool, now you have to fight Master Shadow, a bigger version of the character you're playing as. Oh, and it copies all your equipment too, so it can quickly end your run if you're not careful. Boy, when I first beat it on the 3DS version, I was well happy! It took loads of attempts! Back then, Master Core was a pretty well kept secret, so seeing... that pop out of Master Hand unexpectedly was amazing! It was like that Melee moment when you first encounter Giga Bowser. Master Core feels like it shouldn't exist in Smash. But there's a reason I specified the WiiU version. Because on the highest difficulties, all the above nonsense is only half the fight! Now there's Master Fortress! A sudden platforming section where you have to navigate a short maze, fighting a selection of enemies from the Smash Run mode on 3DS and hoping you don't the incredibly dangerous acid walls that will probably kill you in about 5 seconds and destroy Master Core's heart. You have to do everything I listed above with 2 lifes, good luck! Smash has some amazing bosses, but fighting Master Core is such a rush. It never feels unfair either, because of well telegraphed attacks that don't have to come out of nowhere to catch you off guard (Looking at you Master & Crazy Hand in Smash Ultimate, you couple of ganging up cheaters). Kinda disappointed Master Core didn't show up in World of Light...
  2. Yeah, 50 HP damage is really harsh for messing up on the third boss. These puzzles are also starting to get more complex. I'm finding myself not getting an ideal lineup more and more often. Anyway making my way to the second streamer.
  3. That's your mistake, it's an adventure game with light RPG mechanics. It's been like that since Super Paper Mario. EDIT: Thinking about it more. That interview has had it's meaning a bit skewed to make it seem worse than it is. In that picture above, the bandit on the left is fine, but making up a new species (The Doogan on the right) is a no-go anymore. It's the same kind of thing that Disney does. In other words, you can put a pre-existing mario species in a different outfit. Like the Toad Rescue Squad in Colour Splash. But changing the physical proportions of something is not OK anymore. On the plus side, at least Illumination should be kept in check with the Mario movie. Hopefully... This is what happens to Yoshi when creative freedom goes too far...
  4. And with that. The first night is themed around... Gambling on Card Games Don't worry about bluffing, no-one can see your face! This week's games: Blackjack and Texas Hold'em Each game will be played 3 times. Blackjack Rules: 5 rounds, Double Down - ON Texas Hold'em Rules: 5 rounds
  5. People taking part @Glen-i, @drahkon, @S.C.G, @viceview51 Reserve player Remember, because of how these games are played, there needs to be an even number of people. State your interest ASAP to avoid disappointment. If there is an odd number of people, then the last person to join will have to serve as a reserve player, filling in for anyone who can't make it.
  6. Are you the ultimate Games Master on this dinky little forum? Well then, you better prove it! What is this? Over the next few months, we'll be playing the 46 games in 51 Worldwide Games that can be played online (Except Hare and Hounds, the 47th game, which is too much of an asymmetric game and not completely fair). Once each game has been played, the points you've earned will determine just how good you are! Winner gets an imaginary drink. How do I sign up? Act quick, unlike the Mario Kart League, I can't use average scores to determine your placing. So the sooner you join in, the better. Just state your interest on this board and make sure you join in each week. Game night will take place every Saturday at 8pm (GMT). Try to show up about 5 minutes before hand. If you can't make a night and don't notify me in advance, you will be placed in last place for any game played that night. Depending on the availability of the other players, we may be able to tweak the time of game night to better suit your needs. Inform me on this thread as soon as you can to allow time for discussion. What do I need to know? As of now, there are already 4 people who have said they will be taking part. If you state your interest as the fifth person and no-one else does afterwards, you may not be able to join in most nights because of the odd number of players. In other words, there needs to be an even number of players at all times. If there is an odd number of players, the odd man out may be able to fill in for another player if they can't make a night, but won't be able to fully join in this tournament. I can only apologise in advance if this happens, but that's the nature of these games. Please allow around an hour of your time to take part. If you continually disconnect during a night, you may be penalised. Make sure your connection is somewhat stable. How are matchups determined? During the first Game Night, matchups will be determined randomly. After that, who you play against will depend on your current placing in the Tournament. (For example, 1st place will play against 2nd place in 2-player games) If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Thanks to @Dcubed for the great graphic at the top of the page!
  7. OK, I can't wait for @viceview51 anymore. So Saturday at 8pm is the time I'm gonna use. Gonna make the thread now.
  8. Favourite NPC Gonna have to give a big "YOOM TAH!" to Wigglytuff (Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness/Time/Sky). This guy runs a business... Only Arceus knows how this complete manchild managed to clinch the guildmaster role in Treasure Town. He's meant to keep his employees in line, but is prone to stealing supplies in the middle of the night, whining about how boring his second-in-command is and sleeping during briefings (with his eyes open, no less). I guess it's kinda cheating, because Explorers of Sky does actually let you play as him in a flashback side-story when he was still an Igglybuff, but I don't care. It wasn't in the original game, and you still can't play as him when he's a Wigglytuff, so he's an NPC. (Although that side-story is also very funny)
  9. Welp, now a bunch of N64 games data has been released. This is nuts! (Still quite early, so nothing hilarious... Yet...)
  10. The problem with changing the time for someone is that there's a good chance that it will mean another person won't be able to join because of it... Adulthood sucks.
  11. Nintendo fan artists sure do work fast! The Mario World Peach laughing sprite is one of the most hilarious things I've ever seen.
  12. Online Multiplayer They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so two videos must be worth way more! Make a room for your friends, turn on items. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will provide the hilarity sooner or later.
  13. How about Black Woman Pilot in Star Fox 2? Mad to think they were considering a human character for the Star Fox universe. There's some Super Mario World Bowser sprites. (Kinda looks better without his mouth hanging open) And to finish it off with some nightmares, here's beta Giant Baby Bowser from Yoshi's Island. Jesus Christ, how horrifying!
  14. I have the 1 million bell crown in my town today if anyone wants to throw away a stupid amount of money on one item. EDIT: Kyle is also making Gold-armour shoes which means I've got a spare recipe for anyone who wants that.
  15. Best Final Mission Most final levels in Pokémon games (Hell, most games in general) tend to feel epic or bombastic. Get the adrenaline pumping for the final fight and all. Not Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon. Here's the music that plays in the final dungeon. Truly haunting. Especially given the context the game provides.
  16. I don't know why @BowserBasher is complaining about his second moment, I think he just lacks discipline.
  17. If I remember right, that randomizer has a preset mode made especially for randomiser beginners, so that would be a good place to start.
  18. While it's definitely a good idea to have some good knowledge of a game before attempting a randomiser, a good one will have some kind of feature that creates a readme file when you create your randomised game, telling you where each item is. If you run out of leads, you can refer to it to help you figure out what you can do next. Ocarina of Time is a pretty massive game though, so it may not be the most beginner friendly way to play it. Pokémon is usually a good way to try a randomiser. It's pretty straight forward to complete them because the randomised element is usually the Pokémon you encounter along the way. Not the items needed to progress.
  19. Yes, we got 13 hearts and the Giant's Wallet before getting Saria's Song... Last week, @Dcubed and I finished a playthrough of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Except it was a randomiser, which more than complicated matters. For those of you who aren't aware, the Ocarina of Time randomiser takes every item and puts them in random places throughout the game, including chests and cutscenes that get you items (For example, leaving Kokiri Forest counts as getting an item, because that's how you normally get the Fairy Ocarina). What this results in is a desparate scavenger hunt throughout all of Hyrule, hoping that you find the right item to be able to enter a new area or dungeon and find more items in an attempt to finish the 5 dungeons that have medallions (Also randomised) in them so you can enter Ganon's Castle and reach the credits. Because you don't know where anything is, doing the most simple of tasks becomes a herculean effort. It's not just the important items that get randomised, all the crappy items you don't really need are out there as well. Opening a chest hoping for something useful only to get another 5 rupees is heartbreaking in a hilarious sort of way. The great thing about this is how customisable it is. Some of the options @Dcubed set were: Keysanity - Every Small Key in the game is put in a random place, even outside of the dungeon it is used in. Shopsanity - Every shop has 4 items from the chest pool. This includes items like the Megaton Hammer or Lens of Truth, better hope you find those wallets fast. Business Scrub Madness - Every Business Scrub has an item from the item pool that they sell for 10 rupees. It's a mystery until you buy it. Random Songs - Every Ocarina song consists of random note layouts, warp songs are more complicated than the first 6. Master Quest Mystery - Each dungeon has a 50% chance of being the more difficult Master Quest version. That's great and all, but we STILL HAVEN'T GOT THE KOKIRI SWORD! As you can imagine, this is nothing short of hilarity! We went through almost the entire game without finding the Kokiri Sword. That meant we couldn't even get into the Deku Tree! Just to hammer the point home, the last 2 dungeons we did were the Deku Tree and Jabu's Jabu's Belly. Jabu had the Light Medallion, which was the last one we needed and we went into Ganon's Castle, desperately hoping that the Golden Gauntlets were there so we could finish it. No dice there, until I suddenly remembered about the hidden Lens of Truth room in the main room in Ganon's Castle. It had 4 business scrubs! You've never seen anyone so happy to find business scrubs, and through sheer luck, one of them sold us the Golden Gauntlets, which let us finish the game. (We already had the Light Arrows, naturally before we even had a Bow) Other highlights involved us going through most of the Master Quest Water Temple (Without Iron Boots, we were desperate), only to find that we needed Din's Fire... That's half an hour we're never getting back. Finding a room with 7 chests, getting 3 Pieces of Heart and a Heart Container, and then moaning about it because it's not what we wanted. Finishing the child section of the Spirit Temple with no sword, I beat the Iron Knuckle by chucking 18 bombs at it. The chest at the end just had a single Deku Stick... Trying to navigate the Bottom of the Well with no Lens of Truth is not fun. That dungeon already sucks without that nonsense complicating matters. Finishing the timed section of the adult trading quest without Epona by copious usage of walking backwards. You would not believe how much this item blockaded us throughout the playthrough. Did you know that if you don't move King Zora when you're a kid, he won't have moved even if you become an adult? We couldn't get into the Ice Cavern for ages! We actually had to buy Blue Fire! Who does that!? There were a few times where we had to resort to a guide to help progress. My memory for games is good, but even I can't remember where all those random grottos are. But anyway, this is a great randomiser to help spice up your Ocarina of Time playthrough. Especially the random Ice Traps that shout "YOU ARE A FOOL!" Random Songs was probably a mistake though... Also, this edit is really funny.
  20. If that's the case, than it's looking like Saturday at 8pm might be our only realistic option. @drahkon, @viceview51, would that be feasible for you?
  21. @S.C.G nominated @BowserBasher for the Loser's Gambit this week and gets an extra 8 points in the first GP for beating him. Next League Night: 30th July 8pm Room 1: @BowserBasher is host @Glen-i @BowserBasher @martinist @Jayesse @S.C.G @viceview51
  22. @viceview51 and @S.C.G. I'm gonna need some kind of idea of when you're free to play Worldwide Games regularly so I can get started on making a new thread.
  23. @Dcubed and I are having that issue where we can't join at the same time. So go on without him. Start from the beginning.
  24. Remember guys, Gold Mario is not allowed.
  25. OK, tonight's format is Time. 9pm.
