  1. That video is a tongue in cheek reflection of a common opinion at the time - that the game controls were often imprecise with Link often ending up doing the wrong move. I mean, all I can really give to you is that the three times I've played through it, it's been very accurate. There's a initial learning curve as you learn what the Wii Motion Plus is capable of recognising. I remember having to unlearn winding my arm back before swinging because the controller would swing in the opposite direction if I did wind my arm back too fast. But after I got over that hurdle, it was all smooth from there. @markderoos mentioned Wii Sports Resort, which basically has the same swordplay as Skyward Sword (And archery). No-one complains about the controls in that game. But Skyward Sword gets criticised because... Well, I'm still not sure why that's the case.
  2. Nah, mate. Not ignoring that one. Skyward Sword has my favourite combat in all of Zelda history. It rewards calm, measured swings and flailing randomly will just get you battered. No other Zelda swordplay comes close to the depth Skyward Sword has.
  3. Possibly. Providing a more traditional button method of swordplay would mean redesigning every single aspect that involves swinging the sword in a specific direction. Enemies and puzzles would have to be completely reworked to such a degree that you might as well make a new Zelda game with that much effort going in. As for the controls being restricted to Split Joy-cons? Not so certain on that. The Nunchuk motion was really only used to do a shield bash, that could probably be assigned to a button. Although swinging a Pro Controller probably won't feel as natural as it does with a Wiimote due to the different shape. But that couldn't be helped. That's the main reason why I'm skeptical Skyward Sword is happening. The game is intrinsically designed around the Wii Motion Plus. It's like asking why you can't play all of Wii Fit without the Balance Board. It's not like Splatoon, where gyro is the ideal way to aim, but you can get away with using dual-stick aiming if you really want. Every single enemy encounter (and quite a few puzzles) is designed around Link's ability to swing the sword in any direction. You just can't replicate that with a traditional control scheme.
  4. It's probably nothing. Skyward Sword isn't designed around button presses at all. So I really doubt that's gonna happen.
  5. Bowser has 2 horns, doesn't stop him. (He's also the only Ninty character that appears in Bayonetta... Technically)
  6. Bayo 3, if you count Bayonetta as a honorary Ninty character. (I do) But that's a long way off too.
  7. Hmmm... That might be a good idea, but the TV that the wired connection is on isn't always free, so it's not the perfect solution. It's weird though, it only becomes a problem if two of us try to join the same room. Any other online activity works perfectly fine. Might be worth a shot.
  8. Room's open now.
  9. OK, @Dcubed, @S.C.G and @RedShell. I guess we're on for hunts at 8. (Assuming @Dcubed's internet connection doesn't have a heart attack when 2 Switches play in the same lobby)
  10. Next League Night: 20th August 8pm Room 1: @BowserBasher is host @Glen-i @BowserBasher @S.C.G @martinist @viceview51 @Jayesse
  11. Nah, he's joking about that. But don't expect it any time soon.
  12. OK, gonna shout out @Vileplume2000, @S.C.G and @RedShell for possible hunts today or tomorrow. Free any time then, so if we can all figure out a time we're all free, that'd be great!
  13. The lowest GSP I have in Elite Smash is with Wii Fit Trainer at 7,386,244 GSP. (Highest is with Chrom at 7,443,584) So you're probably not far off with R.O.B. Keep in mind that I have Shulk at 7,317,072 and that's not good enough.
  14. Was one of them Shulk? I can count the amount of people I know who can use him well on one hand. Buster does more damage, Smash does more knockback. Remember that, and you'll do better with him.
  15. Yeah, sorry. Was too busy having a Smashing time. Thanks anyway.
  16. Ah, that explains it, because I haven't played QuickPlay since I finished all the challenges around 2 years ago. Not gonna touch Elite Smash though. I like me my silly items and funny stages. I've actually gotten a lot better with Wii Fit Trainer. Still need a bit of practice to get the art of football redirection down, but she's a lot of fun. Anyway, good matches tonight, guys. Got a couple of videos recorded because some stuff was just too funny.
  17. Since when did I get 4 characters into Elite Smash!? And why is one of them Wii Fit Trainer? EDIT: Oh right, code is 4444.
  18. Who is on @Tales's Island and won't get off the menu? EDIT: Gonna have to give up on that then. Gotta set up the Smash room.
  19. It's the only reason I can think of for even doing something like this. It would be terrible, sure, but why else would you do something like this?
  20. Those first 2 GP's were crazy close!
  21. 5 minute warning for @viceview51 and @Jayesse. @BowserBasher, start at 5 minutes past if they don't show.
  22. Woops, misread. I don't have the glowing painting though, so it's all cool. Mario Kart is about to start though, so it'll have to wait until around 45 minutes from now before I visit.
  23. I'm interested in the Beautiful statue. Don't have one yet. If you could open before 8 (Mario Kart League) tonight, that'd be great.
  24. Spoiler alert, it won't. No capacitive stylus will be as accurate as the Gamepad. The pointer controls, however, can be replicated really well with a Joy Con or Pro Controller. Captain Toad proved that.
  25. Clearly not satisfied with only having Banjo in Smash, he's going for a second character! The shrewd goit!
