I don't have an Xbox but I'd like to revisit PSO, if just for the nostalgia. I'll give it a try when it appears on PC.

I definitely like this game a lot more in the second half. There's some consistently infuriating parts and the dialogue/cutscenes occasionally get barf-level corny but the overall gameplay etc is much better. I'm pretty close to the end and then I accidentally read a trophy that sounds like a huge spoiler, but we'll see.

Can this game really have such daft online that I don’t even know if I’m going to the right persons island unless I ask them the name of their island first

So I have to say my initial reservation about only one island on the Switch definitely proved to be founded. I don't play the game at all, because it's my SO's. And she likes to do everything every day, shake every tree, hit every rock, hand in every creature and fossil. I couldn't bring myself to take that away. So really I'm just a blight on her island still in my first house with one room and a camper bed. I don't mind, I didn't buy the game and I'm happy to let it be hers. But I wish I could have my own island, too.

When I got to chapter 9/10 I started to like the game more, I think it gets a lot better from there. The combat is a lot better against easy to medium enemies, but anything fast or particularly dangerous it's still very frustrating. There's just not enough ways to counter fast moving attacks, and the amount of things that can interrupt your attacks and magic really make you feel powerless at times. However, yeah, I would definitely say overall I'm liking the game a lot more now.

I'm at chapter 8 and I just can't decide if I like this or not. Which I guess means I don't. I think I'm only playing it because I wanted it for so long, and the music and beautiful reimagining of everything is something special. But the combat and linear gameplay are shite.

Anyone bought this? I want it but given the current state of affairs and other games out now, I don't feel like I'm particularly in a rush! Plus I'd have to dig out the rift sensors

I bought SotC a while ago when it was on offer, it never really clicked for me. I think it was probably a real product of its era, much like Ico, that doesn't necessarily stack up as well now that we're less awed by sheer immense scale. That said, I'm sure it will still tick the box for a lot of people.

If there's enough interest I'll show up! How well does the Arcade Club suit group meetups? I find you're kinda going to spread around and do your own thing at places like that, but I've not been since they relocated.

Yeah I still print a lot of miniatures for D&D! Although it's an uphill struggle sometimes. Since this is the purchases thread, I can mention that I recently bought an upgrade to the main board (SKR Mini 1.3) that does an amazing job of making the printer so much quieter. Who know it was the stepper drivers making all that noise.

For a sec I thought you'd bought addons for your joycons and was gonna ask why you didn't 3D print them!

It's good fun but I wish we'd experienced something more than combat. I feel like I've played enough corridor combat FFs over the years (and never gotten more than an hour into them) so I gotta know that downtime stuff is up-to-scratch too. I mean, it's not like I won't pre-order it. I will. And that music and the sheer disbelief that after all these years, I was really playing an FFVII remake... I mean... damn.
