Really. I mean, you could literally just have the name James.
-
I've used two switches in the same position/settings. On one, no controller desync, on another, frequent and irritating.
-
I'll put this up there with Horizon and Nioh on the list of games I didn't expect to actually be any good, and instead they're really highly rated! (not the catchiest list title) Sales figures will probably be very misleading for a while as I imagine many people like me will be leaving several of these games for now but absolutely intend to pick them up eventually.

Am I being dense or is it really not possible to turn off (not just sleep) the Switch when it's docked, without physically pressing the button on the thing?
-
No. And I was using a grey switch in the same place/position all weekend and had no such issue so it's a problem specific to the device, not the environment. It's kind of annoying, I'm going to get rid of the grey one and keep the neon one, just because that's the colour I want, despite knowing it's going to be an issue. Maybe this is all a conspiracy to sell me a pro controller...

They claim to have code in the comments but they don't talk about anything we haven't seen before, like the English voice acting. I'm curious to know if there are any other differences too. That aside, who cares, can't wait. I think Zelda, Mass Effect and Persona might be my three top gaming series of all time, and there's new outings for each within the space of a month. Crazy times. Not only that but there's Nioh, Nier and Horizon out there....

Sooo... I got my Neon Switch eventually, and it has the left joycon sync issue Pretty sure this was confirmed to work out of the box right away.

This is one of the greatest games of all time. I'm so glad I'm exploring it slowly and casually. This is the way it was meant to be played. Take your time, wander around, not aimlessly but not so directed. Gradually build up strength, but not in an obvious "item gate" kind of way.... Leaning recipes, stumbling upon villages, running from enemies that can one-shot you. Absolutely incredible. It has niggles. It has parts that are overly frustrating and the rain! Oh god, the rain. But it doesn't take away from it, really, just adds to the challenge.

I agree with you in a way, and Zelda's artistic direction gives it an edge occasionally. But you can definitely tell it's been held back a lot by technical limitations. Horizon has the advantage of being built for a system deep into its lifecycle, and despite that still exceeds expectations. Whilst Zelda's built for a system which is not only smaller and less powerful, but less familiar too. Also many parts of Zelda seem rushed (textures on mountainsides etc). I say this despite thinking Zelda looks beautiful, and I wouldn't want to see it looking anything like Horizon, yet I definitely appreciate that the latter is visually way more of an accomplishment.

Thanks for popping in to say hi can't believe it's been that many years since you were here last. Time flies.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Wii U / Switch

This isn't quite relevant to Zelda, but I just want to correct myself... Simply Games didn't drop the ball, I did, I got the postcode mixed up Glad I bought a separate copy! -
To be fair, that's because it's not a capture button on the PS4. It's a share button with multiple functions and configurable shortcuts, if you set it to tap once for screenshots, it becomes instant. I think, even when you have it on "hold" mode, it actually captures the screen from the moment you press it (but I'm not certain about that). Personally I'm hoping the Switch button is updated to do more things in future iterations of the OS.

I'm really struggling with the controller, feeling like it hampers my experience a bit. I hit the L button all the time. And why the heck did they feel the need to be different to everyone else and make "L" and "R" the further forward buttons?? It's very unnatural to reach down to the left side buttons when using the left stick. I feel like they designed this controller to make people like me want to buy a Pro controller. Other than that the system is fantastic.

This game is absolutely incredible. An amazing experience. Enormous. You can wander forever and do nothing and still love it. It took me ages just to find something relevant or doable and when I did it was just so amazing. What a game. I can't wait to go home and play some more. I can't tell if it's the controls or the controller that I'm struggling with but that's the only real negative, and I'm getting better with time.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Wii U / Switch

I've been enjoying this game all day but suddenly I'm feeling too lost. I'm really aware that I've made very little progress all day. No matter where I explore I never seem to find anything relevant, unless it's an enemy or environment I can't pass easily yet. I haven't got very far at all. -
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Wii U / Switch

There's something about the open world in this that's difficult to explain, but it makes it so uniquely awesome... It's like, when you have to get from A to B in Fallout or Skyrim, you can scramble over the mountain or jump on a building, but that always feels wrong and broken. They haven't accounted for you being there, and they actually want you to walk around until you find a path. But in this game, it's like it was built so that you can approach anything by any means, and it's never wrong. The first clear cut example was -
I got a Royal Mail text this morning saying they'll attempt delivery today (NUK). Pretty useless though since it was a business address. Luckily though I followed through with my backup plan and picked one up last night from Argos. When I eventually get ahold of my original orders, I'll just have to return them. NUK and Simply Games really dropped the ball for me. The former not that surprising but I've been singing the latter's praises lately and can only assume they lied about dispatch. About the Switch itself: Sorry to hear about the sync issues. I played all night and nothing has gone wrong. The controller is tiny though and difficult to get used to, I wish the Pro controller was more reasonably priced. Similarly, the charge grip, because now I have to hang the thing up in the dock for a bit and let it charge. Ordered a USB-c cable that's on its way but in the mean time, options are limited. Other than those negatives though, I think it's a wonderful bit of kit. Played it all last night, docked, then went to bed and played it a bunch more in handheld. Incredible the way you can just pick it up and keep playing. The touchscreen quality is fantastic. Definitely noticed it performing better in handheld (occasional FPS drop in docked, but not enough to worry about).

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Wii U / Switch

Don't want to venture in here much and risk spoilers but just wanted to say, I find the game much more fun and immersive when using the Pro hud. -
Are you going to do this? Not sure I can be bothered. My Switch never arrived from NUK and my Zelda didn't arrive from SG either. I ended up getting both from Argos and will return what I don't need when it eventually shows up. For now I'm just enjoying the game and de-stressing after all that NUK nonsense, I'll put it behind me and enjoy this ace little bit of kit. It's taking me a little while to get used to the tiny controller! But I feel like I will.
-
No I don't really see the point in ringing them, I'm assuming it's really been dispatched in which case they can't really expedite the process at this point. I'm happy-ish with my backup plan.

@Dyson some people are reporting an email with a Hermes tracking number in and an explanation that it was a mixup. Any chance you're one of those lucky ones? (I'm not)
-
It's no consolation I know but I'm in the same place. Still vaguely hopefull it's gonna appear soon. However, my Simply Games Zelda never showed, either.

Meh :p they both come from vulgar latin "essere" (to be) probably
