Pinball games are pretty standard procedure. Most people can't afford one so a game is a fair alternative. Bang for your buck (it's £20 ain't it?) it's probably a good game.. with some simple but functional controls tacked on. 80 is pretty reasonable for it i'd say.

The gamer girlfriend.

I've been trying to find EA Canada's e.mail address so I can tell them to make it smaller.

EA sacked 500 people to keep Tiger's name on the golf game. Through an exuberant raise. They will be using it to the maximum selling potential. Fact. I boycotted EA games after that. But Spore is really going to be tough to not buy.

This one looks like it has more style about it than balls out over the top tricks. I'm sure it will be there but I think it has distanced itself from the On Tour and Tricky format. I can't remember if you could turn that HUD off in the original.. but it was certainly less low profile. When you go over the top with tricks it flashes and has effects on it and really draws your attention away. That's the same link that I posted also, the don't support direct links to videos.. it's all internal flash.

Wii is really getting marginalised from a lot of the main studios that have made games for the past 3 generations that we love. Disney has set up a studio specifically to make Wii and DS games.. leaving their old studios to work on the PC, PS3 and XBOX 360. I'm not so sure it's a good thing.. sure we're getting support. But is it going to be as good?

On the link's page click "this weeks show" once the player opens click the top link 'Game Head shows' and then scroll down to Episode 26. That will open a sub menu of 4 chapters. The 4th contains the SSX Blur footage.. I think it's possibly the worst site design ever.. so slow and lagging my browser hard.

Now that Sony own the movie rights to Bond (through Columbia Tristar) don't they have influence? I mean if Sony owns Bond then surely they'll do anything to keep it from Nintendo. Could the Bond license get anymore complicated? I'm suprised the GoldenEye source team haven't been sent to prison yet.

I've watched the video, the Wii and 360 ones are indeed smoother, but the 360 one was more zoomed in in places which gave it a bit more edge and detailing, really showed the lighting. The PS3 made the best use of dynamic lighting and effects but they could have gone a little further in my opinion to exceed the 360 version. Perhaps there's some influence by Activision there to keep them equal. The only part of the Wii version that disapointed graphically was that outside scene flying over the city. Both the PS3 and 360 managed a fairly crisp atmospheric night sprawl.. the Wii was dogged with what looked like flickery christmas lights covered in lard. I must give props to Raven software for not feeling too compromised by the Wii hardware to go for a different formula. I still would buy the 360 version over the Wii one given the choice.. the fuzziness bothers me when this is such a low resolution video clip.

What amazes me is that Suda 51 has so much creative freedom. They've got an awesome team.. what looks like a decent budget. But wasn't Killer7 a commercial failure? In the West if a studio cocked up a game like this.. even a larger one like Grasshopper they'd be out of the business, or doing some crappy ass games for the next decade. I suppose in Japan they'll eat this up because they're more open minded and indie stuff gets marketted there. I don't know why I'm calling Grasshopper indie.. they're meant to be working on a PS3 game which requires a big budget. Also Grasshopper is working on a second untitled Wii game. Those screenies look sexual.. I hope the battles aren't too raily though.

Hands up who was seriously considering dropping £35 for this hunk of junk anyway.

Meh, the chances of you suffering a bricked Wii, or any other nonsense problem that detracts from the experience are slim and none. Statistically speaking. I am not really that worried about it.. because if NintendoConnect24 sucks I'll just buy a 360 and perhaps sell my Wii. I can dig that it's going to be free, safe and simple. But if that hampers the experience for hardcore players. Which Smash Bros. and Batallion Wars 2 are touted to be, then that will be a great shame.

Absolutely.. I mean on Thursday night we could have one every hour!

YOUTUBE LINK (BETTER) stop reading here. --- Spike TV has the world exclusive of SSX Blur, expect a barrage of news, screens and stuff over the weekend. I've not played SSX since the original.. but it was a laugh. I just think it's been a bit tapped dry (4 games in a generation!?) Click episode 26, part 4 to skip through right to the footage. Or you can see some arse licking between Peter Moore and Reggie earlier on regarding the Wii60. Reggie just comes out and says "No don't buy a 360.. get a DS if you have a little extra money" If there's anything this series needs to rejuvinate it- it's a new control scheme. Can't help but think that this will be one of the motion sensing games that the PS3 really outdoes the Wii version. 1080 the standard has been set.

If you can drive, in theory you should be able to pick it up from your local depot. You'll need photo ID and a corresponding recent bank statement proving that the address on the box is your residence. You've got 7 days to find out where your depot is and get there on the Thursday. Worth a shot if you're desperate/have too much time on your hands. I like the suspense of waiting for a parcel.. that is unless I forget about it like my laptop. Then it is the wickedesy suprise ever.

[updated] Potentially, this time next week you will be playing Wii/being ill from lack of sleep.

Waste o' money.

Q. are they competent enough to handle a Wii Spore game should EA burden them with it?
-
BLATANTLY. All they've got to do is sort out a bunch of paper work. Chances are the emulation team have got the .rom running already just for testing purposes (and their own office matches) literally it would be so easy. EA/Microsoft/Rare/Activision/Nintendo sign the contract. Upload it. Done.

Are you sure it's not sales tax? I think the PS3's £425 is pre VAT (which would make it a cool £500)
-
I think Iwata will probably send out a note to everyone's Wii note board saying thank you personally. That's the kinda guy he is.

£179.99 was estimated, they hoped to offer it lower. Either they aren't bullshitting us and the wireless tech actually costs this much. OR they are using the popularity to milk it for profit. Either way I'm happy Nintendo is making a profit from launch, it's reasonably priced at €249/£179. I hope those profits are passed onto us in the release schedules and invested in our future games appropriately.

That video completely debunks my problems with the pace of the game. The demonstrations aren't that bad.. not nearly as bad as I've seen in the really patronising ones. That's really pacey and varied.

WORST DS GAME EVAR. PS expect Wii Ware.
