$100 actually. The dual disc drive, wireless technology and flash are all very expensive components. There is a website that takes technology apart, finds the serial numbers and calculates bulk values for each piece of equipment.. adds a few hours cheap labour and shipping costs from the factory to the US. Calculating a roughly accurate mark up value. I'll see if they've done it for Wii.

£180 / 100 = £1.80 17.5 - 21 = 3.5% £1.80 * 103.5 = £186.30 186.30 GBP = 276.698 EUR (what you'd pay if you bought a Wii from the UK.) With your sales tax you're still paying about the same as us, no need to complain. I have a suspicion that the Wii costs about £130 to make, but we'll see.

This isn't turning into a graphics debate. But I'm relatively sure that it's had some minor graphical updates with regard to particle effects. I even think Reggie said it.
-
Wanna source that? Because I heard the Wii one has some particle effects and lighting stuff that the GameCube version can't do.
-
Does Ireland pay sales tax? That's the only reason I can think of.
-
I'd guess generic LG.

€250/£180 was estimated, I've not seen it at a legitimate UK retailer for over that.. I don't know the situation of European game stores but surely you have chains? Is there no competition in the European website/high street domain? I find it hard to believe you have 1 game store in your town or country that is ripping off everyone.
-
Moria it is Nintendo's responsibility to maintain good relations with the retailer and to offer good enough incentives so they don't rip off consumers. That is the demise of many indie retailers in America who got PS2s in and put all their stock on eBay for profits. They fucked over all the kids who support indie stores through and through. Large retailers held people with honest pre-orders to ransom last year, claiming that it was policy to make everyone buy 5 full priced launch games if you want a premiuim 360. Buying the hard-drive, wireless controller, component and network cables seperately isn't cheap. Microsoft cocked up there. I see it as Nintendo responsibility to prevent this, by either providing sufficient stock so there is competition in the market place or ensuring that only reputable retailers get stock (as in Sony's case)

Mario 64 is available at launch for about £8 (1000 Wii points) and Majora's Mask will be available for the same price in the near future. They hinted at around 1 N64 game per month.. so it's only a matter or time.
-
They get what they paid for.. it's a shame. Banjo 1 and Twoie might end up the Live Arcade if Microsoft has it's way.
-
On behalf of everyone I shall put in Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 6 (3:US) and Super Mario RPG. I'd like some top down shooters (Gradius series) and I have no doubts they'll get here eventually. Banjo is owned by Microsoft now so that is near impossible.

It does make me wonder why GAME aren't doing a more competitive Ubisoft bundle. Ubisoft has no chance of getting into the charts this Christmas unless they do a deal. Lego Star Wars II is going for £20 and Gears is going for £40. Publishers are responsible for bundles, they get their game in the charts and it sells more the week after. Because it gets the shelf space when all the kids come into town to spend their Christmas money on their new consoles. It's war of the shelves.

The GameCube's first party titles also swamped third party ones so that they ditched the system near completely. It's a little more complicated than that in reality I'm sure but it was a decisive factor. It's better to spread them out, for our wallets and for variety. I'm gonna support 3rd party as much as I can. 3-4 AAA Nintendo titles is reasonable I think.. we've got Zelda, Mario Galaxy, Smash and Metroid in the first year.

Graphics will be lower, they are worse and it's not in 14:9 aspect ratio. It makes a huge difference. I'm betting lower.

I wanted DVD. Got no beef with paying £180 but I expected it to be £150.

TBH I am like a little freaking school girl about Raving Rabbids. So I am not hiding my excitement. I am not taking it as an offence, but I've just been hanging out on neogaf lately and it just seems to be run better there. That's why I'm less tolerant of these threads which are all personal experiences and plans that will probably not happen for another week. In fact I'm actually against megathreads also. I think the Zelda one is stupid and I've barely made a post in either of them even though I am proper hyped for that game.. it's just not a discussion anymore whne it gets that big. F.Link works really hard on the podcast and most people just ignore his hot topic threads in favour of these ones.

Mid December for the states.

Spoiler-Free The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Thread
Nintendork replied to Tellyn's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Gahahaha Im joking. Besides the fact that Midna exists in the Twilight Realm I know nothing about Twilight Princess I've read only one spoiler free review.. I don't watch videos or screenshots, not really interested in it until I get to play it. -
Haha I remember saying something about putting eggs all in one basket. I guess the joke will be on me if I don't actually get a unit on launch though. Ben be happy you've got one safe.

Spoiler-Free The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Thread
Nintendork replied to Tellyn's topic in Nintendo Gaming
OMG MIDNA IS GANONDORF! -
Well I'm trying stores like PC World, Sainsburys, Tesco, Co-op electrical, ASDA and WH Smith too. Most of which don't do pre-orders but stock 360s and DS lites. Nintendo wants to hit average people, it's gonna have to hit average stores to prevent Nintendo geeks snapping up all the pre-orders.
-
What's this thread for then? It's even stickied. Seems people are oblivious to it. Just because it has been reworded from Wii launchs plans to Wii tasks (whatever the hell that is) doesn't mean it's not the same thing.

Consult your manual, BT broadband actively supports online gaming so it is not a problem with your ISP. Ensure you have up to date drivers, set it up correctly (it's a doddle wth the software provided or on Windows XP default) Failing that check NintendoWiFi.co.uk or use Google.co.uk for router compatibility. Might I suggest Googling "Nintendo DS + your router model number" for assistance. Wii supports wireless out of the box like the DS, however there is an ethernet adaptor coming out soon (inconvenient) your best bet would be to read the settings off your laptop on the DS/Wii manual settings. (SSID, WEP encyption, IP etc..)

Red Lion GAME is only getting 101 units on the 8th? They got more 360s than that.

Microsoft will throw money at the 360 until next generation. They want Windows in the living room. It's the future. They will never give up on it. Because that's where the money is at. Gaming ain't their passion tbh. That's why they think they can just buy creatives. So far they've gotten away with it. It's quite a nice place to work.. because chances are you're not accountable for anything. You'll never get fired unless you do something really bad. Whoever is in charge of Microsoft Japan must be getting a bit worried though.
