DN37 was fantastic. Quite possibly the best anime I've ever seen.

But could someone please explain

how the entire situation with Mello and Takada, and Mikami going to the bank gave Near the real Death Note? I'm still a bit confused about that.

When Giovanni said he only went to the bank on the 25th of each month (year?) he only went once. He went to the bank to go and write Takada's name in the Death Note. Going to the bank twice was unusual for him.

Damnit it was in my head a minute ago and now it's gone.

Takada's name had been written down in the notebook a minute after Light had already done so. Damnit I can't remember.

Totally not the ending I expected. I was in two minds at which way I wanted it to go, but I suppose the way it went was good.

The Death Note anime endding is different to the manga's ending.

After trying to continue writing Near's name with his blood and finger, Matsuda shoots him again, blowing away the paper and immobilizing him. Light begs Mikami to kill everyone, but Mikami cries out that Light is not a god, and that his stupidity caused this situation. Light then calls out to Misa to kill everyone, but Near reminds him that Misa is at a hotel. Light then calls out to Takada, but Near reminds him that Takada is dead.

In a last ditch effort to eliminate his opposition, Light begs Ryuk to write their names down in his Death Note. Ryuk announces that he is going to write "it" in the notebook. Everyone shoots at Ryuk, but the bullets go straight through him. Light shouts out in glee that he has won. However, Ryuk says that he is not writing their names in his Death Note, but rather Light's. He says that Light's situation is hopeless and that if Light needs Ryuk's help, he's already lost. Light remembers what Ryuk said about Heaven and Hell; there is no Heaven and Hell; there is only one place everyone goes to when they die, and that is Mu, or nothingness. Light pleads for his life to no avail as Near and the rest watch him die. Mikami dies ten days later after going insane in prison.

Thereafter, Near becomes the new L. A year later, through fate, L and Light's former colleagues work together to stop a ring of normal drug dealers in the same warehouse they had their meeting in a year earlier. The world realizes that Kira is gone, and crime increases again.

Misa fell into despair after learning of Light's death through Matsuda and committed suicide a year later, on February 14, 2011.

Matsuda questions the situation that took place a year earlier. He questions the fact that Mikami, being the careful perfectionist that he was, would have checked to see if the Death Note was the real one and tested it before he set out to the warehouse to eliminate the SPK.

He suspects that Near may have used the Death Note to control Mikami and stop him from testing it. Because Near burned both of the real Death Notes at the scene, any evidence that could implicate him would have been destroyed. The fact that Mikami died ten days later only solidifies Matsuda's theory. However, Ide (another member of the taskforce) tells Matsuda that even if his theory were true, there is no evidence, and if Near had lost to Kira, none of them would be alive today.

Followers of Kira continue to exist thereafter and worship his ideals of justice.

Why did it have to end

would you prefer filler?

before a mediocre second story thing?

Death Notes Music is amazing.

They always use it to great effect in the anime helping to add to the tension of the scene. :D

The second opening is by Maximum The Hormone.

and here it is.

IMO the second opening is the worst anime opening song i have ever heard, and possibly one of the worst 'songs' i have ever heard.

It's like bad japanese slipknot-but worse . . .

What kind of slipknot do you listen to O_o

I'd say System of a Down if anything.

I actually like that OP. :o

I like system and i can't see where your coming from-ah well, glad i can just skip straight past it thanks to the wonders of modern technology ^_^

I wasn't that keen on the second opening but it did grow on me though, having listened to it from episode 20-37. I prefer the first one though. :D

The next anime I'll be watchin is Eureka 7. I'm also thinking about watching Bleach, Welcome to the NHK, Ghost in the Shell, and Elfen Lied this summer. Anyone have more suggestions? Preferably dark anime, in the vein of Death Note.

I know this isn't the music thread, but I can;t help myself. Sorry if I come off as being a prick here but...

While the intro is nothing like them, at 7 seconds (that shout with he jumpy riff) it's classic System. Though they'll generally do a little fill before starting the shout again. At 19 seconds, it's sound like Violent Pornography, i was expecting a high pitch woohoo, in there somewhere. 24 Seconds, it goes higher pitch and louder, Just like system do on a couple of songs.

the rest of it is nothing like them though.

But yeah, irrelevant and sorry if I come off like a douche (sp?) but it isn't my intention.

I'm getting quite annoyed now. I've installed loads of codec packs and none of them are letting me play Welcome to the NHK as the .mkv files.

VLC plays them, albeit not very efficiently. if it's HD my p4 3.4Ghz struggles slightly >_<

Strange because VLC just shows a bar thats about 12 seconds long. I'll reinstall it and see if that does anything.
