Goafer Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 Trying a new technique for black and white images: So far, I've found it works best for cloudy skies or pictures that have no sky in. Unfortunately, my other test subjects did have cloudless skies, so won't be posted here on the grounds of being a bit shit. I've only been trying it on old pictures, so I will take a few with the new method in mind and post them later.
Goafer Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 It's a disused petrol station on an old American air base. The old petrol station shop is still in use (it's a local shop for the area of the base that's been converted to houses), but bizarrely it faces away from the pumps. There were a few security guards walking around the surrounding buildings (still in use) and the shop was still open when we went, but no one came to ask us to leave, so I guess no one cares about people using it to take pictures. Not the best photo though, since my camera ran out of batteries after 2 photos, so it was one of my practice shots.
ReZourceman Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 I think it looks great. Certainly a great spot. You seem to have a talent for finding these places. :p
Happenstance Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 Im worried that theres something wrong with your camera, a lot of your photos seem to be at a jaunty angle.
Goafer Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 Didn't you hear? There was a freakishly localised earthquake. It was limited solely to Staffordshire show ground. Strange really. Surprised no cars were damaged to be honest.
MoogleViper Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 I don't like the last black and white one. Why did you take out the beauty in the background? She makes the photo.
Goafer Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Her natural, unbridled beauty distracts from the comparatively bland Beetle. I figured it was easier to delete her instead of the Beetle, although I'd much rather it the other way round. I was going to ask her to pose for a photo, but well...
Goafer Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Went out with some friends and fannied around with night time photos: Glow stick fun: Car based japery. This basically invoved me hanging out of 1 car whilst photographing the other. Good, clean, safe fun:
Goafer Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 (edited) Using what I'd learnt at Focus on Imaging, I thought I'd have a crack at studio lighting. Nothing too fancy, just thought I'd play around: Flash with diffuser quite far back from the sheet to give a decent even look to the background. No front lighting apart from ambient light (in this case the kitchen light). Backlighting comes through the bottle, showing the moisture on it. Moisture was a bit shit though. Need a finer mist spray bottle really. Knew there was a reason I bought the special editions of Bioshock 2 and WoW: Cataclysm. They make excellent backdrop supports! Edited March 9, 2011 by Goafer
Goafer Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Went to a car show today. Most of the cars were shit, so I spent most of my time photographing the ladies. Nuts magazine was there, hence some of the ladies: Rosie Jones: Her feet:
Diageo Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 How come if you block out the nipple only, it doesn't count as nudity?
ReZourceman Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 How come if you block out the nipple only, it doesn't count as nudity? Because nudity is wearing nothing......this is basic stuff. :p
