Retro_Link Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Really like the top one of these two! Is that by any chance a turtle covered in snow in the second?
Kirkatronics Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Really like the top one of these two! Is that by any chance a turtle covered in snow in the second? It is. Its some stone Turltles in out garden. Thanks Not anywhere near as good as yours, but im happy.
Grazza Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 I love these, Kirkatronics, they really evoke something.
Twozzok Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Nice photo Kirkatronics, one thing I'd suggest, is maybe upping the contrast slightly. At the moment they look a tad faded to me.

Happenstance Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 (edited) Went for a wander around the village earlier, took some photos. Not brilliant, really need to get myself a better camera. Edited January 6, 2010 by Happenstance
Kirkatronics Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 What camera do you have? They look good to me. Do you take photos often?
Happenstance Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Those were taken on a Canon Ixus 400, oldish digital camera. Thats all I can use at the moment until I buy my own camera. I always mean to take more photos but I dont take that many.
Happenstance Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Inspired by Goafers, thought id try one of mine in black and white. Quite like it (also fixed the dodgy angle it was at)
Goafer Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 I think I prefer it in black and white (I always do), but I think it needs more contrast. That's just me though, I really do like high contrast black and white pictures, can't you tell?
Happenstance Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Heres the colour one with the fixed angle anyway, not sure which I prefer but I do like the black and white.
Goafer Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 I like the colours of the wall. Yeah, it is a tricky picture. The colours of the wall are nice, but snow works well in black and white since the white of the snow contrasts really well with everything else. Black and white shows the contrast better IMO, which is why my ones above are all B+W. Thinking about it, the wall picture probably would be better in colour, since 2/3rds of the picture is the wall and 1/3rd is snow stuff. I still like them both though, can't really decide which I prefer.
Fresh Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Nice work. Regarding black and white there is a useful tutorial here since using inbuilt black and white functions on many programs just produce a "washed out" effect. Link
nightwolf Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Heres the colour one with the fixed angle anyway, not sure which I prefer but I do like the black and white. With this one I'd prefer high contrast colour.
Paj! Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 The colour one is way more dynamic. Or something. I prefer it.
Retro_Link Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 (edited) Some photo's from today, Brrrrrrrrrrrrr... Edited January 6, 2010 by Retro_Link
dwarf Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 That is very pr0. I envy those photography skills, but mostly the bobblehead if I'm being honest. Good work, I want to see more game memorabilia snaps.
Retro_Link Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Heres the colour one with the fixed angle anyway, not sure which I prefer but I do like the black and white. You could always combine the two!?...
Twozzok Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 (edited) Some photo's from today, Brrrrrrrrrrrrr... I reckon with a bit of post-processing, pics 4,5,6+7 would look amazing. EDIT: A couple from my holiday in tenerife. This one especially looks good printed on 5x3 photo paper EDIT: aaah image overload >_< Edited January 7, 2010 by Twozzok
Retro_Link Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 (edited) I reckon with a bit of post-processing, pics 4,5,6+7 would look amazing. Thanks! They do immediately look better on a large scale and in their original form (they seem to have lost a bit of quality going through imageshack), but I'd be interested in knowing what you think they might need! All I usually do is adjust the colour and contrast a little if necessary... but I wouldn't really know where to start on much else! For example, when you realise what some people are able to do with the right software! e.g. on RedBubble... http://www.redbubble.com/people/rodelicious/journal/4279789-hdr-tutorial Edited January 7, 2010 by Retro_Link
Happenstance Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 You could always combine the two!?... Cheers, shame though that as its mostly snow on that side, you can barely tell that its actually in black and white
dan-likes-trees Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 I rather love this one. Not a huge fan of the borders around the other ones though, too obviously computer-generated. Or digital camera generated anyway. Some photo's from today, Brrrrrrrrrrrrr... and this one. Lots going on. Lykes. The last two don't work so well what with the flash though. Let's be honest, good photographs are all the snow's really any good for. I got a new camera because I'm an idiot and dropped my old one and it broke. Tempted by an SLR but fear of dropping it again means cheapness was too important. ^ Bit of a Bloc Party Silent alarm moment Might trapise out tomorrow and try and get some nice wans.
