Kirkatronics Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 It is indeed possible, although if you're planning on playing anything that isn't Halo 2 you're unlikely to find anyone to play against. Oh, and games that relied on some sort of server — PSO, old EA games, etcetera — may not work due to things having been switched off at the publisher's end. OK, thanks =] I might try some of my games out on LIVE, check how many people play them.
Dyson Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 I tried playing SF Third Strike, but weirdly it gave me an error about the VGA cable not supporting a certain video mode. Odd; as it works perfectly fine in single player and multiplayer
Kirkatronics Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Oh yea, another question. I played a few levels of Armed And Dangerous, then on one of the loading screens it suddenly decided it was incompatable. How can i fix this?
Aimless Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 I tried playing SF Third Strike, but weirdly it gave me an error about the VGA cable not supporting a certain video mode. Odd; as it works perfectly fine in single player and multiplayer Non-60hz games don't work over VGA, and as someone playing a game in 50hz and someone else running 60hz can't play together — the game runs at a different speed — I would assume your PAL copy of 3rd Strike requires people to use the European standard refresh rate when playing online.

Ah! Thanks for the explanation, that makes a lot of sense.
Pantsu Man! Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 I just tried the Wanted demo. I nearly turned it off when the first words said in the training was 'I was like you. Sitting in front of a Tv, playing video games, getting fat.' I got slightly pissed off, but laughed it off. The rest of the game though was worth it. Running didn't feel good and the cover system is bad, but bending bullets and whatnot totally makes up for it.
Roostophe Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 I should give that Wanted demo a look. I've got it, but I haven't played it. I've also played the Legends of WrestleMania demo. Seems much better than SmackDown Vs Raw 2008. And the Relive mode almost sold it with that video of The Rock & Stone Cold's feud leading up to WrestleMania XV. In main news: I've finally started to get into Mass Effect. I tried it three times before and just didn't continue on (So early in did I stop I didn't even become a Spectre.), but I've got past that bit this time around and I now have the desire to carry on further.
Jav_NE Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Hey guys, Have any of you downloaded and completed the Tomb Raider: Beneath the Ashes DLC and Prince Of Persia Epilogue? Basically, i need a screenshot of the unlockable outfits if you can help. I think Lara is in a bikini in one of the TRU ones. Anyway, if you can help it would save me some hassle. Cheers.
Aimless Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 I have both games' DLC but no sort of capture device, I'm afraid. Presumably this is for some kind of publication so can't you play the press angle and nab both for free?
Guest Jordan Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 You bought the PoP Epilogue? Holy hell. Another 2 hours of QTE sequences?
Nintenchris Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Wheres the cheapest place to get a years worth of live?
Pantsu Man! Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 You bought the PoP Epilogue? Holy hell. Another 2 hours of QTE sequences? The thing about the end of PoP, I thought it would have definitely opened up to a sequel to carry on with the story. Surely it would have more money. But I don't know how the epilogue ends so maybe that could leave a sequel wide open. And I thought the epilogue was meant to be free... unless I missed something.
Shorty Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Wheres the cheapest place to get a years worth of live?ebay probably, 13 months for £30 beats MS' regular price of £40 for 12, and even their current cheaper price of £35 (for 12)

Nintenchris Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Cheers guys, got 13 months from ebay for £29 and the code was emailed to me and worked perfectly
Pantsu Man! Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 I was just wondering, regarding this Live renewal thing I asked a while ago, if I put in a pre-paid card's code will it cancel out the 3 month renewal thingimabob?

Presumably this is for some kind of publication so can't you play the press angle and nab both for free? Yeah, but deadline is today and anyone who has worked with PR's will know they dont work that fast. We didn't initially bother with the DLC so we dont have it, or the 360 version of Tomb Raider, so its a bit of a bitch. They are sorting it out for us but it will be too late. Do you not have a digital camera? If you can take the best shot you can it might help. Keep it steady, no flash etc.
Aimless Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Do you not have a digital camera? If you can take the best shot you can it might help. Keep it steady, no flash etc. Well, I've given it a try with the PoP costumes: standard view of both, close-up of the Prince, close-up of Elika. I also chanced across this screengrab which should be a lot more usable on the fidelity front — I think it's from the PC version. If those are okay then I can do the same for Beneath the Ashes.

Sweet, those arn't too bad actually. If you can do the same for Tomb Raider i'd really appreciate it. Try and get lovely gratuitous shots of her. Boobs, ass, whole body etc. It needs to be done! haha. Also, what are the names of the PoP costumes? Do you get them just for having the DLC or do you have to unlock them? Same for TRU, is it just available to select from the start? Thanks man, i appreciate your help

Thanks man, i appreciate your help The PoP costumes are Prototype Prince and Prototype Elika, and I believe you have to finish the Epilogue to unlock them but I'm not 100% on that as I didn't check until afterwards. Incidentally you could unlock said skins on the PC version by getting all 1001 Light Seeds. Underworld is proving rather more problematic; something seems to go wrong every time I take a photo. Can't say I'm too into your paparazzi-esque requests, either, but I'll try my best.

It's looking pretty unlikely that we'll be able to fit it in now anyway I was trying to squeeze it in last minute but our editor and designer dont sound too convinced about adding to their stress today having to send the mag off, so they'll probably just ignore it and put it in next issue. Shame though.
Aimless Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 It's probably for the best as Lara's being a... well, a bitch. It doesn't help that the 360 version runs at at the 'sub-HD' resolution of 1024x576 so can be a bit blurry at the best of times — strangely Underworld on the PS3 runs at 1280x720, or 720p. But that's all a bit tangential as I get the impression that if your readers are going to be interested in any number it will be the one prefacing the measurement 'DD'. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
Jav_NE Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Absolutely :p Thanks for trying though, i appreciate it.
