jayseven Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 I'm guessing Arkham Asylum fever has totally died down... I'm thinking I might be able to 1000/1000 this game. The challenges are the trickiest bit admittedly, but I've not really tried them all that much. Am I right in thinking that with the predator challenges I just need to pull off a 'kill' in each of the ways it lists and I get a Gold?
Shorty Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 I was really rubbish at those challenges, especially the stealthy ones where you had to take out a room as efficiently as possible. 1000 gamerscore wasn't a possibility for my degree of patience.
jayseven Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 From what I can see the predator challenges are the easier ones because you have no time limit whatsoever. I've not given the tricky ones a go yet, no doubt there's frustration aplenty in store! Should finish the game on hard tonight. Not looking forward to the final fight, mind you
Cube Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Gah! I'm just about to go to The Spire in Fable 2 and the captain near the boat at the dock (where the quest is pointing me) won't talk to me. I've tried moving to other areas and quitting/reloading with no luck. Seems like to start the game from scratch. Or sell it.
jayseven Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 When shit like that happened to me in fable, I just killed teh fucker and ran to another city or two and it was all fixed after.

Unfortunately I've tried that. I turned the safety off and attacked him (inadvertently killing random people nearby who were all asking for sex) only to find that he can't die.
Shorty Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Google suggested that the bug was fixed, obviously not (I assume you're online and up to date), although it did mention something about "you must go to Westcliff, leave the region and then return to it. "
LegoMan1031 Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Weird, i seem to have avoided such glitches in Fable 2. Lego Indianna Jones 2 is another story though, the fucker glitched on me last week and ive not had the heart to start it all over again as yet!
jayseven Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Well finished Arkham Asylum on hard - gotta say the bit I mentioned above (which took me hours) was definitely the hardest bit. Poison Ivy was surprisingly easy, and the Party, while it took four or five attempts, was really only so prolongued because I was trying to get that Freestyle master achievement thingey - do all moves in one combo. I managed eight of the nine, but got hit when I was on the RT+Y ground takedown. Massively annoying! Will do the extreme combat (endless one) to grab it later. Once I got that, then I have all achievements besides the challenges one and 100%. Pretty sure I'll be able to get a few of the bronzes at the least! What to play next, though? I've got Alone In The Dark to begin, but Fallout 3 DLC is looking most likely. *really wants to play Assassin's Creed 2... will hassle Dan Dare*
Mundi Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Speaking of Alone In The Dark and glitches... I was watching a friend of mine play it and he had a gas canister and a knife equipped and was going to siphon some gas from a car. What he managed to do was accidentally puncture a hole in the gas canister before starting to siphon the gas. The strangely funny bit was that the gas leaked endlessly trough the punctured canister and he had to crash the game because he could not stop. Story time over.
jayseven Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 I've opted for Fallout 3 so I've yet to even really know what AITD plays like... Had a save file for my level 7 nutterevilbitch, Katrina (waves of mutilation/hurricane of violence references). I've seen that there are 'easy' ways to get all the karma achievements by abusing the save system. Currently I'm happy to get this bitch up to level 20 while re-playing the game, as I've forgotten most of it. Really I'm aiming to get the speech challenge sorted - got 10 complete, need 40 more! also started to use the melee weapons more... and my god it's awesome! Knifing someone's face off, or using the powerfist to see their mind explode... and saving ammo! Genuis.
Cube Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 For level 30 you can save just before you reach it and use the Good/Evil/Neutral perks then reload.

I'm on the same part as you, but I've opted to finish a few more quests before I take the boat. I ran into something a bit dodgy before that - I was trying to enter the Crucible, got all the renown I needed to enter, went up to the gates, and the guys insisted that I wasn't a 'celebrity'. I did another quest and it let me in. The quest's goals were listed as fulfilled, which was odd.
Ike Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Is it worth getting Fable 2 GOTY Edition or not, because HMV is selling the standard version for £12.99 plus I get 10% off, or pay £14 for the GOTY Edition and hope Amazon get it back in stock?
Shorty Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 A good price for a great game, if the genre appeals to you then certainly, go for it.
jayseven Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Had a few sessions on Left4Dead (still on the first game!) and managed to get an anchievement I was missing - 3 survivors incapacitated within 5 seconds on Crash Course I smoked one as a tank whacked the other two. Love it. Still feel utterly shit at the game, though - I'm really trying to get the hunter-pounce-for-25-damage on Crash Course achievey but the closest I've gotten is 17. Really need some luck. Also took up teh MW2 solo camplain and... it's awsome. Was not expecting it to toy with my emotions as it has - awe, shock, sadness... Very, very surprised. A genuine joy to play! Only playing on regular, but I'm tempted to try and jump straight to Vet mode and tear my (hair out) way through that. Mate helped me bump my borderlands character back to a reasonable level (housemate accidentally deleted my level 28~ character). Only took about 30 mins and now I feel like I can play the game again, rather than wasting hours of my life trying to get back to exactly where I was previously. Wanted to buy Castle Crashers as I felt like a quick burn on it, but it's still 1200?! Very annoying. (My How Was Your Gaming Day? post...)
Ten10 Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 You should have got CC over Christmas it dropped down to like 800 points. I've been putting a lot of time into burnout paradise. Seriously addicted to it but I might forget about it once split second launches.

It really is awesome. I think I've just past the 1100 hour mark.
jayseven Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Fuuck... I would've totally gotten that! Part of the countdown to the new year I presume? I got bored of that after a few days of bullshit.
Ten10 Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Yeah it was countdown to the new year. I was kicking myself over missing the fallout 3 dlc. I don't think it will ever be as sweet as that again. But I managed to pick up Shadow complex, Castle Crashers and Battlefield 1943? but I don't think there were any decent deals beyond those. I think we even got shafted one day where the rest of the world got a game and we got some crappy movie rental.
Cube Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 (edited) All the film rentals were in place of games that everywhere but the UK and USA got. Braid and ReZ HD were among them. Edited January 22, 2010 by Cube
Ike Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Monkey Island: SE and Worms 2 was on offer during the Holiday count down which I picked up, I thought it was pretty good event overall.
jayseven Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 Haha! Those were the two games that I did pick up! Also astounded by the braid/Rez bias, there. I'd totally pick up Braid (even though I've played it to death) as it's the sort of game I'd like to sit my friends down with for a few hours, when I'm babysitting them/helping them through detox/not wanting to talk about the money I owe them.
