Calza Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 PS3 is teh sukz0rrzzzz When is the first of the 3 FF XII or are they coming out at around the same time? They are pretty much the only thing that is keeping me intrested in it.
Fierce_LiNk Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Lol at Sims 2/Tomb Raider/Sega Casino Thats why the adverts say you need a buy a brand new tv. What adverts? Analogue signals, meaning terrestrial tv, right? Freeview, Sky, NTL should all be fine, as others have been saying.
Calza Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Lol at Sims 2/Tomb Raider/Sega Casino Thats why the adverts say you need a buy a brand new tv. Okay that was strange how we both choose white to hide our insults. But what adverts? The ones I've seen just say you need to buy a set top box.
ZeldaFreak Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 What adverts? Analogue signals, meaning terrestrial tv, right? Freeview, Sky, NTL should all be fine, as others have been saying. The adverts that are on saying when you purchase a new tv you must look for " The tick - digital" symbol. Just looked at the website - you guys are right. Meh At least I 'm watching stuff in hd.
That Guy Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Lol at Sims 2/Tomb Raider/Sega Casino Thats why the adverts say you need a buy a brand new tv. Idiot. And again you show you're a chump. I've been watching digital tv for years, on a small portable. You don't NEED a new tv, stop posting about something you know nothing about. Although obviously might be a bit hard if you want to carry on posting.
Fierce_LiNk Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Just looked at the website - you guys are right. Meh At least I 'm watching stuff in hd. Haha, at least you admitted it. Takes something to do that. I hope you have learned from this.
Mr. Bananagrabber Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Im still not convinced. 360 has better games in my view. Built in wifi is good for PS3 but they're bound to break down in a year. PLus, why change to blu-ray? As Nintendo say, it's all about the games. But unlike Nintendo, Sony actually deliver them. Check back in a few years, there will be tons of games worth owning on the PS3. The mass of casual gamers will buy it because it's Sony, the big developers will support it more and more and once again, the Sony machine will be on top. "But the DS is outselling the PSP olol!" Somone will no doubt cry. Er, yeah. That's my point. Nintendo have 10 years of dominance when it comes you handhelds, when the PSP was launched with generally better games it was ignored. Because the masses thought Nintendo = Gameboy = Something everyone owns, and I must too. The Playstation home console is so firmly rooted into peoples minds as the machine to buy that there is no chance it won't be a massive seller, at least in Japan and Europe. Despite all the "lol Giant enemy crabs" and "The PS3 has no games!" (Bullshit, there's more out at launch for the PS3 that looks good than there is for the rest of the year for the Wii) chants from the ignorant internet minority, Sony still have the masses enthralled. And the good games will come. And everyone enjoys playing good games, right?
That Guy Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 I think the whole 'the mass market will buy it because it's Sony' argument isn't something that is as simple as that. I think people bought PS2 because of the ammount of games, and the fact that it wasn't that expensive. People who just want Fifa every year, are they going to spend £400+ on a console. I'm not so sure. Sure PS3 will have plenty of games, but I'm not as yet convinced it'll be the massive success the PS2 was. Casual gamers went for PS2. Now DS is the casual gamers system of choice right now. Wii could become that with the right games. Anyone writing Sony off, or anyone writing Wii off, I think is wrong to do so, because we haven't seen the potential of both yet.

But I truly and honestly believe the Sony is far too deep rooted in peoples minds to be touched. The Wii certainly could become the next casual console of choice. But I don't think the DS was successful because of the touch screen, and I don’t think the Wii will be successful because of it’s controller. I think it would take a miracle for Nintendo to end up on top at the end of this generation. The DS was a success because of the Nintendo handheld lineage. I think the same will happen with the PS3. But in the end, for all this speculation, there’s only one way to find out. And that’s to wait and see.

DS was succesfull because of its games aka brain training, AC:WW, Nintendogs, NSMBs, MK: DS, etc etc etc i mean it wasn't called the GameBoy DS or anything.
That Guy Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 DS was succesfull because of its games aka brain training, AC:WW, Nintendogs, NSMBs, MK: DS, etc etc etc i mean it wasn't called the GameBoy DS or anything. That's exactly what I was about to say. Like I said my friends weren't bothered about games until they played Brain Training at one of their cousins, then they went and bought a DS each.
Mr. Bananagrabber Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Okay. So 3 people bought it because of the games. I really don't see how that proves me wrong in the least. The DS was ALWAYS known as the new Gameboy by the press and casual gamers. I'm not denying that Nintendogs helped it shift a few units in Japan, but the fact that it was a Nintendo handheld was always the underlying factor in it's success. DS was succesfull because of its games aka brain training, AC:WW, Nintendogs, NSMBs, MK: DS, etc etc etc i mean it wasn't called the GameBoy DS or anything. Yeah, the games were succesful because people had bought the machine because it was a Nintendo and then realized that they might need to play something on it or something. Quality doesn't dictate sales. Never has, never will.
AshMat Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Cox has a good point, the DS has always been known to casuals and the press as the new gameboy. My little cousin said to me once "is that your new gameboy?", and i heard a kid call it a gameboy advance DS once (i did feel like slapping him but meh). That's obviously a good selling point, but people buying one, say the "hardcores" like us, would buy it, show it, other people buy it, etc, etc.
That Guy Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Of course it has something to do with the success but I don't think everyone who has a DS would have a Gameboy now if Nintendo hadn't taken the direction they have.
Caris Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 I think what Zelda Freak is trying to say is. OMGZ PS3 FTWZ lololol!!!1111one. I could be wrong though.

Anyway, about the PS3 mass market, yeah, i agree. People who aren't in the know will play on any console and say 'this playstation is good' but as time goes on, gradually, nintendo will be the company that remain in peoples heads every generation for home consoles, much like what retro stated, the people talking about gameboy instead of handhelds. best example of this is when you get asked my your mum or grandparents if you have your ipod, when youve told them a thousand times that its a zen or whatever. but yeah, nintendo are crap at actually doing what they tell us in interviews. games are constantly delayed and titles turn out to be disappointing. but its also about the games which you do finally play and they come out as gems
Domstercool Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 It's amazing though the amount of people that I've spoke to in the Co-op that go "I'm a playstation man, so I'm waiting for one of them!" It shocked me at first that they didn't even give the Wii or 360 a second look.
Mr. Bananagrabber Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Firstly can i just say, where did nintendo come into any of this, i didnt mention them in my post. About here: As Nintendo say, it's all about the games. But unlike Nintendo, Sony actually deliver them. I was just using them as an example. I didn't intend to imply anything mate :p

Calza Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 That really isn't being a fanboy. They probably bought a Playstation based on what they were told was the best at the time and the PS2 was so they were happy. To them why wouldn't the next one be any different. Look at the iPod, alot of people have bought one without looking at any other mp3 player's based on the fact that they were told it was the best. Chances are if they tried something else they would like it but they are used to the brand and they are going to stick with it.
Caris Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Can we get back on topic of this great games console please? If you guys want to bash and argue make a thread somewhere else.
ZeldaFreak Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Whats motorstorm like, how many challenges has it got?
Caris Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 Its gr8, and im not sure i've only played the demo.
KKOB Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 Whats motorstorm like, how many challenges has it got? LMAO!!! i'm sure that same question got asked a couple of weeks/days ago. Isn't there anything more interesting to discuss atm?
