Monopolyman Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 I can't believe that it's half way through February 2006 and there has been no thread about upcoming films this year. So, basically, what the title says, what films are you looking forward to this year. This is my list, with sequals first... Casino Royale- The next Bond movie, as you all know, but this time it's apparantly going back to it's roots. No gadgets and no OTT CGI. Looking forward to it. Superman Returns- I wasn't initially looking forward to this, but seeming as Lex Luthor is being played by no other than Kevin Spacey (The finest actor in Hollywood imo), I might just go and see this. The Passion of the Clerks- or Clerks II. I haven't seen all of the first one yet, but from what I've seen from it, and the trailer to this, this looks like I'll be going to see it Capote- Out next week, about a guy who while researching on a murder, forms a relationship one of the killers. Across the Universe- A little known film now but by the time it's out I think will be really popular, and is actually my most anticipated of the year. Set amongst the anti-Viet war protests in the 1960's, the film spans the world and societies for stories about protests and civil rights. The most appealing part of this film, however, is the Beatles songs which are going to be played in the movie which will reflect the period of the movie. The Fountain- Although little is known about the film, It looks interesting. It spans 1000 years and involves a fountain (surprisingly). View the trailer; it's amazing. The Departed- A Scorsese film, which is the english language remake of a foreign film, which was apparantly very good. Should prove intersting. Find Me Guilty- Don't be put off by the fact Vin Diesel plays the lead role, he might do good. Anyway, this is the latest, and probably one of the last from Sidney Lumet, who I think is one of the most underrated directors ever (He directed 12 Angry Men, Dog Day Afternoon and Network). A real life story of a mobster who defended himself in court. Pretty interested in that field and Lumet knows his court room dramas, so this could be one of the films of the year.
Dan_Dare Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 V For Vendetta looks to be interesting. I just dispair at the thought of what the so called directors at the helm might do to a great IP. however, should they pull it off, consider me sold. X-3. still lookin forward to it, although it probably wont be as good as the first 2. ratner just aint singer.
Hellfire Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Spacey is Luthor? Awesome! I'm looking forward to X3, V for Vendetta, Superman and Spiderman 3.
Domo Kun Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 I read an article in The Times about a film called Syriana that's coming out soon. It sounds pretty good. Anyone else heard of this? Sadly I'm not actually looking forward to any of those films. Hah, bugger.
Stocka Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 I'm looknig forward to Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest
EchoDesiato Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 I'm looking forward to The Da Vinci code, after reading the book I really wonder how it'll be like as a film.
Owen Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 I'm looknig forward to Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest Yes i am too! but kinda only for the sublime acting of Johnny Depp, who for me made the last one worth watching and very funny. Not sure where-ever it's out late 2006, but i'm also looking forward to 'Zodiac' which stars Jake Gyllenhaal as a serial-killer i believe, or something along those lines!
Ashley Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 I can't believe that it's half way through 2006 and there has been no thread about upcoming films this year. We are? So theres another like 50 days left til 07? Anywho. Nothing springs to mind really, few films I would like to see but nothing im giddy over.
DiemetriX Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Ultra vilolet looks cool. I didn't know they where making a Scary move 4 Looks ok i guess.
MunKy Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 X3, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequal, New Friday the 13th. And Spider-man 3 is May 2007.
mario114 Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 The next bond film should be good, and less cgi sounds even better, also the next pirates of the carribean will be good, (only just saw the first one).
knightendo Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 i'm a huge bond fan, and i hated die another day, i'm so glad to hear we're finally going back to a proper bond movie, and casino royale is my fave of the novels... anyone remember THAT torture scene???
Mike Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 I'm saying 007, Harry Potter 5, and Eragon. Order of the Phoenix won't be out this year, I'm afraid. I can't really think of many films I'm really looking forward to this year. The only one that really springs to mind is Pirates of the Carribean 2. I'm sure there'll be some more good ones as the year gowes on, though. At least it'll definitely be a good year for games, what with Zelda, New Mario Bros and hopefully the Revolution on the horizon.
Monopolyman Posted February 18, 2006 Author Posted February 18, 2006 We are? So theres another like 50 days left til 07? Anywho. Nothing springs to mind really, few films I would like to see but nothing im giddy over. Changed it slightly.
knightendo Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 oh, need to add spiderman 3 and pirates 2!! the first two spidey films were just mind-blowing, and i hope the third maintains the emotional character-driven stories and humour. i have no reason to think they'll stray to a more "brain-dead action movie" formula, but then again i didn't think bond would either before die another day :S
AshMat Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 I'm seriously looking forward to Scary Movie 4 and Date Movie, both look hilarious. The SM4 traielr had me in stitches, as well as date movie
rizz Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Order of the Phoenix won't be out this year, I'm afraid. Bah, I was expecting it to be, since they always are, just the 3rd one wasn't because Dan and Emma's parents were being anal about them being in a proper school. Ah well.
AshMat Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 OO, also looking forward to Final Destination 3, was going to go today, but i said i didn't look 15, so we thought we'd watch the first one tongiht.
Stocka Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Isn't the next Narnia film coming out November/December too? (Prince Caspian) I don't understand why they are jumping from The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe straight to Prince Caspian. Thats missing out The Horse and his Boy. Also The Magician's Nephew is technically the first Narnia but obviously they needed to start with The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe to gain the most interest. The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe film wasn't a touch on the books(obviously) but I still have to see every one as I'm a big fan of Narnia.
dabookerman Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 007 with some blond looking miner...no thanks
Athriller Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Saw walk the line. Loved it. Joaquin and Reese gave wonderful performances. Infernal Affairs is one o fmy favourite films of all time, so naturally, I'm awaiting the Western adaptation - The Departed. At first, I was slightly hesistant, but with a cast composed of Leonardo DiCpario, Matt Damon and Jack Nicholson, can it really go wrong? And Pirates of the Carribean is making me wet already. Cthulhu face Davey Jones looks brilliant, and Depp is always a must see for me.
Shorty Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Ultra vilolet looks cool. You gotta be kidding. Jovovich can't act for a sandwich, which you can tell from looking at her. There's a scene in the trailer when hundreds of men are standing around her in a perfect circle, on flat ground, and they all aim at her in the centre and start to fire. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but they would surely kill each other in a matter of moments. Anyone who knows me knows all I'm interested in this year is Superman, Spider-Man and X-Men.
Wesley Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 We are? So theres another like 50 days left til 07? Anywho. Nothing springs to mind really, few films I would like to see but nothing im giddy over. So half a year is like.. 50 days?
