S.C.G Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo Revealed Now up on the main page. An overview, trailer, and a brief write-up. I'd have wrote more, but that's all I had time for today. 1
EEVILMURRAY Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 This seems to be designed for the person who sleeps alone all the time. If I had this the movement the wife does when waking up would drive me crazy. I can't see how this is considered a good business decision in 2024 when there are so many options to use as an alarm that has more than 5 varieties of sound. 1

I'm choosing to see it as a designated sacrificial lamb ahead of the Switch successor announcement. Get all of the weird energy and ideas and gimmicks Nintendo is known for out of the way with this little alarm clock. I swear it's like they've got a quota to meet on how many funny or strange decisions they greenlight every year, because it's often balanced out by what is very much a "strictly business" approach. Who knows? Maybe that's the deal Miyamoto made with the devil back in that cave from his childhood... 1

sumo73 Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 (edited) What an alarming price! At that price it's just not for me, maybe a price drop or see it on e-bay at some point in the future. Still could see this selling well for Xmas. The real question is, can it play Doom? Edited October 12, 2024 by sumo73
Dcubed Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 (edited) Looks like the Alarmo has 4GB of onboard emmc storage... Thats a decent amount for what this is. Nintendo should be able to release a decent amount of new themes for this thing Edited October 15, 2024 by Dcubed
Julius Posted January 13 Author Posted January 13 (edited) The NSO member timed exclusivity period for Alarmo has been extended from mid-Jan to early March, after which it will remain exclusive to the My Nintendo Store here in the UK: Edited January 13 by Julius 1
Dcubed Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Guess the guys at Nintendo's factory decided to sleep in. 2
Julius Posted January 13 Author Posted January 13 Meanwhile, over in the US, Alarmo will be available (seemingly in limited stocks) in select retailers come March, no NSO membership required:
Helmsly Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Alarmo got an a new theme added today: I had assumed Alarmo already had a Super Mario Bros theme on it tbh.
Dcubed Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Finally! A non-Switch game represented by Alarmo! Relieved to see that it won't just be limited to Switch games, as I had feared. Odd that this one is coming out before the previously announced Animal Crossing update though. 1
Dcubed Posted Monday at 11:46 AM Posted Monday at 11:46 AM Wahey!! It's update time! 3.0 has landed, and with it, some relevent patch notes... Quote - You can now set the alarm ON/OFF, alarm time, and alarm mode for each day of the week. - You can now set the playback time of the Sleepy Sounds sound. - You can set this in 1-minute increments from 1 minute to 60 minutes. - A preview will now play on the alarm scene selection screen. - Improved the stability of determining whether the good night sound will play. - Even if the good night sound has already played, you can now play it again by setting the good night sound. - You can now set the screen brightness to a darker setting. - You can now check the MAC address of the unit even when not connected to the Internet. - Fixed several issues and improved operational stability and usability. The first one is killer. Ridiculous that it took so long to be able to set multiple alarms for each day of the week, but at least it's here now. 1 hour of Sleepy Sounds is hype though 1
Ashley Posted Monday at 02:48 PM Posted Monday at 02:48 PM And you can check your MAC address! It's what I most want from my alarm. 2
