Polygon is being gutted.

Quote

The video game website Polygon has been sold to Valnet and much of its staff has been laid off, Kotaku as learned. Founded in 2012 under the Vox Media, the site quickly established itself as one of the premier outlets for original reviews, reporting, and cultural analysis in the world of gaming.

This industry continues to circle the drain.

We can only hope Sony and Microsoft rush out even more powerful hardware with higher costs and increased development times.

That will solve everything!

As far as I'm concerned, all 3 of the platform makers have lost the plot.

It’s so annoying what’s become of that site. They basically predicted a lot of the internet booms before they happened so to just see it fizzle out is really sad.

Jeff Gerstmann addressed what’s going on with Giant Bomb at the start of his latest podcast. It’s a bit long winded but still interesting to hear how the issues have been going on a lot longer than fans probably realised.

FC 24 is a terribly frustrating experience on Switch and I generally hate EA too. The news that Codemasters could close only increases the hatred!

Unfortunately, FC 26 will be one of the games I'm most interested in playing on Switch 2 this year 😖

Cliffhanger was actively hiring staff, and Black Panther had recently passed what EA calls a "gate" — a development milestone where executives review a game's progress and decide whether to continue production. The team had momentum, and the project was coalescing, according to the people, who asked not to be identified discussing nonpublic information.

Others familiar with the project told me that EA executives were frustrated that the game had not yet left the pre-production phase after nearly four years in development.

One reason for the slow progress on Black Panther was that the studio had only just begun scaling up. Many of the workers laid off this week were hired less than a year ago, including some who only joined in the last few weeks and months, said the people familiar.
The highlight of Shadow of Mordor was the Nemesis System, which allowed certain orcs to develop traits and personalities based on the player's actions throughout the game. For Black Panther, Cliffhanger was building a new system that would expand on those ideas.

The plan, according to the people familiar with the game's development, was to feature various playable heroes from the comic-book universe, such as T'Challa, Killmonger and Shuri, all competing for the mantle of Black Panther, which would grant superhuman strength. The player would take control of one of these heroes, while the others would become rivals with
