For the record, the stuff you can't steal is Gold (not an item, if an enemy Thief gets it, it evaporates) and weapons (unstealable by design). I don't think the chapter you were in contained any weapons, though.

That's all good then as I don't have much of a slush fund for them to get at. Since I don't know when the next shops and armouries are coming, I've been stocking up.

Surprised that they aren't bigging up the 4 player multiplayer here.  That's one of the game's biggest features, and having another online mutiplayer F--Zero game is a big deal :)

Pro-tip.  Make sure you feather the accelerator when making those tight turns, as mashing the A button while turning allows you to turn much more tightly than normal (The attact mode demo actually shows you this trick!).  The game calls this a "Blast Turn".

Also, pick JB Crystal, it's easily the best car.

F-Zero Maximum Velocity coming to NSO couple of days

Finally! At last, Nintendo has brought us all of the titles they had originally promised.

...

Lots of omissions still (Wario Land 4's absence is bizarre), but at least there aren't any specific titles left hanging anymore.

Also, right after we finished, I just remembered how to initiate Single-Pak play. You press minus on the Game selection screen.

Something to keep in mind for when one of us unlocks more tracks on F-Zero.

Yep, little later than planned but... if you still want to race, I'll set up a room. :D

Go ahead, but it actually doesn't matter who hosts in F-Zero. If one person has stuff unlocked, everyone can use it.

Right no idea how to do that boost on that damn game without slowing to a crawl. Even after you guys said to let go of A after the start. Looks like I’m off to search.

When you hold A at the start, you'll notice the colour of the exhaust pipes will turn white after a while. You need to make sure it turns white right before "Go!"

You can still let go of A during the startup beeps to try and balance it at the sweet spot. So you can still pull it off, even if you start too early.

The problem is, how long it takes for each car to get to that point is different, so it's not consistent between every car.

It’s a bit tricky to learn.  Basically you want to hold down A at the start until right before the word GO appears, then quickly let go of A and quickly hold it down again.  Time it right at the end and you should get the rocket start.

Give me a minute, I'll make a video.

EDIT: OK, @BowserBasher Watch the exhaust and listen to the revving of the engine.

Notice how I let up on the rev every now and again to keep the colour of the exhaust around the point where it turns white? That's the sweet spot you want to be at when "Go!" appears.

@Dcubed's method works as well because he lets go of the A button to drop back to that sweet spot right at the end. I personally think that's risky as hell, but it works for him...

Really wishing I had one of the NSO N64 controllers right now as Super Kiwi 64 gets an update to add N64 controls, and upcoming title, Corn Kidz 64, will have it when it launches this Friday!

That’s really cool.  I suspect that this “support” will just be remapping the controls to use the right stick for gameplay actions so that they map to the c-buttons when using the N64 controller and moving actions off of the non-existent X/Y buttons; rather than actual official support, as I don’t think Nintendo allows 3rd party Switch developers to actually target their specialist NSO or GCN controllers with matching button prompts, but still very cool to see :)
