Hero-of-Time Posted March 14 Posted March 14 The GT7 autopop picture is great. I love the FFXVI platinum pic. It's the same as mine. You're right though, most of them are garbage. There's not much care or attention given to them at all. My favourite so far this year is from Star Wars Demolition. 1

Mostly because system features like this just feel like extra workload, especially when it only affects one platform. I'll always be reminded of how much Toby Fox didn't want achievements/trophies in Undertale, because it flies in the face of the point the narrative is trying to make, so he made them completely unsatisfying to get. Good on him, I say. I'd rather have a game designed with them in mind, rather then force it on developers.

CrowingJoe79 Posted March 16 Posted March 16 I hope we get Silent Hill: Townfall news soon. Konami is definitely going to have future transmissions to cover the series.
Hero-of-Time Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Quote A recently discovered patent published by Sony Interactive Entertainment suggests the company is experimenting with the idea of charging controllers by sunlight. Spotted by Tech4Gamers, the patent seems pretty straightforward — a controller with "photovoltaic elements" allowing it to absorb light from the Sun and power your pad with the electricity generated. A sun powered controller? That's gonna be useless in the UK, especially up here in the North East. 2
CrowingJoe79 Posted March 22 Posted March 22 This is a really nippy part of Silent Hill: The Short Message. Sakura Head is breathing down your neck, but you have to pick up all the memos. It needs patched though, to include a 'New Game' option.

How about a controller that can heat up or cool down? Fixing stick drift? Making controllers more durable? Don't be stupid! Fire hazards! Making controllers last for even less time! YEAHHHHHHH! Julius Posted March 22 Posted March 22 Grubb is talking about what's next for God of War and it is apparently a return to Greece – but not in the way everyone seemed to be expecting (and recently reporting): I'll be honest, this is the first purported leak in a minute I've thought about throwing in a spoiler tag, but he says so little about it and I can't exactly picture what this would mean, so Prequel? Kratos returning home? Atreus visiting his father's old stomping grounds? No idea. If it's Santa Monica Studio, I'm in, no questions asked; if it's not, then I'm not too sure.

I was thinking about it, hence the install, but yeah...that was just a post-install mis-click. Sorry H-o-T 1
Hero-of-Time Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Quote Disney and Dlala’s delightful Nintendo Switch exclusive Disney Illusion Island Starring Mickey Mouse appears to be conjuring up a PS5 port. The always eagle-eyed Gematsu spotted a scraped PS Store page for the co-op side-scroller on PSDeals.net, suggesting an announcement is imminent. As far as we can tell, the listing has been uploaded to Sony’s servers, although we’ve been unable to locate a publicly accessible version. The game first launched on Nintendo’s system on 28th July, 2023, and further leaks suggest it’ll release 30th May on the PS5. It doesn’t look like a PS4 version is planned. I loved this game and honestly thought it would remain a Switch exclusive. I could be tempted to double dip if the price is right. 1
Julius Posted Wednesday at 02:58 PM Posted Wednesday at 02:58 PM New animated backgrounds being added to the Welcome Hub: Quote Previously, PS5's welcome hub had one animated background, which featured Astro Bot. Now, backgrounds for Days Gone, Demon's Souls, Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yotei, God of War Ragnarok, Horizon: Call of the Mountain, Horizon: Forbidden West, Lego Horizon Adventures, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Rise of the Ronin, and Stellar Blade have all been added, but are only available to certain users at the moment. It's not yet clear when the backgrounds will be available to all players. So now we're getting backgrounds for Yōtei before a release date/window... 1

Julius Posted Thursday at 05:19 PM Posted Thursday at 05:19 PM (edited) Hard to put it in a TLOU thread when there are several...so anyways, The Last of Us Complete has been announced. I didn't pick up the controller and this Collector's Edition coming July 10th does look lovely... Currently in the queue... Edited Thursday at 05:20 PM by Julius
Julius Posted Thursday at 05:41 PM Posted Thursday at 05:41 PM 22 minutes ago, Julius said: Currently in the queue... Well, that was a bit of a nightmare. Initial link I found was to the US PS Direct which had a queue, then it was the UK PS Direct which didn't, added to cart, re-added my home address, attempted checkout...like 20 times (sue me, I want it!). Running the risk of accidentally living the life of a scalper if 21 copies showed up, I tried on PC and it worked first time. Typical. Anyways, looks lovely, was planning to play both back-to-back in the summer now after Season 2 of the show finishes airing and while I don't think I'll crack this open, it has delayed my hunt of Part I's Firefly Edition and Part II's WLF Edition... ...for now
Hero-of-Time Posted Thursday at 05:50 PM Posted Thursday at 05:50 PM How many times are they gonna repackage and resell these games? It's crazy. 1

Julius Posted Saturday at 10:29 PM Posted Saturday at 10:29 PM (edited) Bungie have finally shown off Marathon, arriving 23rd September 2025, with a Closed Alpha test on 23rd April: "Premium" but not "full price", launching with a Battle Pass and 3 maps. Look, when my biggest takeaway is going "oh hey wait, is that Ben Starr narrating???", it's just not for me. Art style looks great in some shots and like absolute ass in others. Hope this works out for Bungie, though. They've been on a weird ride as of late. Edited Saturday at 10:31 PM by Julius
Hero-of-Time Posted Sunday at 05:56 AM Posted Sunday at 05:56 AM I quite like the art style of Marathon but that's about it. It being a game that players will need to pay for, having a battle pass and launching with only a few maps seem to be sticking points for a lot of gamers. I've no interest in buying it but I'm intrigued to see how well it will do.
Dcubed Posted Sunday at 05:16 PM Author Posted Sunday at 05:16 PM (edited) DOA. You're looking at Concord 2 if it's launching as a paid game and not F2P. There is no market for a premium priced retail multiplayer only game unless you're COD. Edited Sunday at 05:17 PM by Dcubed
Julius Posted yesterday at 12:24 AM Posted yesterday at 12:24 AM (edited) Per the PlayStation Blog, standard PS5 console pricing will increase effective immediately across Europe, Australia and New Zealand due to the current "challenging economic climate"; the price of the Pro remains unchanged. Quote Europe PS5 Digital Edition – €499.99 (No pricing changes for the standard PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive) UK PS5 Digital Edition – £429.99 (No pricing changes for the standard PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive) Australia Standard PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – AUD $829.95 PS5 Digital Edition – AUD $749.95 New Zealand Standard PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – NZD $949.95 PS5 Digital Edition – NZD $859.95 Meanwhile, the RRP of the Disc Drive has been lowered – also effective immediately. Quote Europe €79.99 UK £69.99 Australia AUD $124.95 New Zealand NZD $139.95 My friend just got one in the restock the other day...that'll be a fun one to break to him in the morning Crazy world we live in right now. Feels like gaming is impacted just as much now as the once mighty Freddo has been for some time. Edited yesterday at 12:54 AM by Julius 1
Hero-of-Time Posted yesterday at 05:25 AM Posted yesterday at 05:25 AM That's ridiculous. So it Europe having to subsidise the tariffs for the US or are they going to actually get a price hike as well? I've said it before, people are going to be priced out of this hobby before long. I mean, consoles always got cheaper as the generation went on and this allowed many more people to pick up the console and increase the sales for the company who makes them. It will get to the point where there will be no second wind for a console and the sales will stagnant and fall off a cliff. 1

It would certainly seem that way I feel like the smart move here, if the US price was set to change too, would be to either namedrop the US situation as the reason why, or to say that a change to the price of the console in the US is currently being looked into. As it is, it absolutely feels like we're being punished for their stupidity, and to make it even worse? They dropped that news slap bang in the middle of the night over here, hoping no-one would notice. Also, totally missed this before (as the price changes aren't included in the table), but this also impacts some markets in EMEA territories. 2 hours ago, Hero-of-Time said: I've said it before, people are going to be priced out of this hobby before long. My first thought went to some kid who had been saving up for the PS5 Digital, the lowest price option, and now they've gone and randomly bumped it up. As someone who had to do the same to get the PS2 the year the PS3 launched, for only £60, from a Cash Converters, I had to check what the price is like for the console at Cex at the moment, and while it's just below the original RRP (£350 for a boxed console, £330 not), I doubt they've clocked onto the price hike here, so I might keep an eye on it, purely out of curiosity. How a kid whose parents aren't that well off is meant to save £350+ (let's not forget the games) for the cheapest entry point into the hobby via PlayStation's latest system is beyond me. I'd say get a PS4 instead, honestly, but you know how kids can be – I've heard a few accounts of kids being bullied these days less for what they did when I was in school (race, sexual orientation, gender identity, hobbies, etc.) and more for the tech they don't have. Like you say, they're pricing people out of the hobby, and even worse, pricing those out who perhaps could do with the escape that games can provide most and not giving them the chance to enjoy games when you get by far the biggest chance to get the most enjoyment out of them: as a kid. No wonder PC and mobile seem to be the go-to pick for people new to the hobby these days even with some quality games to boot, it really seems like they've skated by on the library and good will of the PS4 this gen. It's a shame Xbox has gone the way it has because, with no direct competition, I fear this only gets worse come the PS6.
