Sheikah Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 So is it just a certain selection of pokemon in this? Coz so far it's all gen I pokemon which is sitting very well with me! I've played all the main games over the years and even though I kinda know the newer pokemon it's nice to have the nostalgia of the red blue glory days! Looking forward to playing more of this but haven't left the house today! Yep, just the first 150 so far. Something I very much agree with. My 10km egg hatched, which was an Electabuzz (already had one, but it comes with loads of candy which is great for levelling it up). Also took over another gym.

Dufniall Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 Ha, I just saw 5 people aiming their smartphones in someone's garden. And I already saw multiple people walking around with their phone playing it. Like already said before, not even out officially and already it is ON! Too bad that in my town there are not many Pokémon. Luckily at work (where also already 4 or 5 people are playing) there is more to catch. Good reason to walk for a break!

Eddage Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 Download this today and have already been walking around for 90 minutes or so catching 'mon! Never really explored where I live much but found some nice little parks/walks/streams. Tried to take on a gym but was massively under levelled, however I now have a 452 CP Hypno (which I caught with one pokeball) so will go back tomorrow and kick that Koffing's ass! Also caught a Dratini which I'm really happy about!

somme Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 (edited) My partner went out last night to try and catch some 'mon and came across someone being fingered in a bush. Luckily he'd already lowered the phone otherwise he'd have looked like a right perv. Edited July 9, 2016 by somme

Serebii Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 But I wasn't allowed to complain about Splatoon for the same reason without being called anti-Nintendo. Difference is that this is mechanically barren whereas Splatoon was barren with maps

Ashley Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 Well there are plans to add more features at least: http://www.techinsider.io/pokmon-go-will-get-pokmon-trading-2016-7

Eddage Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 So I just got back from another walk, hatched a Charmander and a Weedle and found a 5k step egg, caught a load of Pokemon as well. Beat my first gym leader but there's a few things about battles/gyms that I'm a bit puzzled about. Firstly I battled a level 170ish Oddish with my level 400ish Hypno, so massive power and type advantage but still only just beat him. I would've thought it would be a walkover. Is anyone else finding this with their battles? Secondly once I beat the gym I couldn't then leave my Hypno there to defend it, I had to leave a 172 Pidgeotto which I knew would be beaten pretty quickly (and sure enough before I had even got home he had been chucked out of the gym). Is it always the case that you can't leave the Pokemon that beat the gym there to then defend it? I love the fact that because of this game I've spent nearly three hours out walking around today! I've even ordered a battery case for my phone so it'll last longer

Kav Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 (edited) Difference is that this is mechanically barren whereas Splatoon was barren with maps ...and game modes. ...and game set up options. ...and general features. Pokémon GO is free at least, it's not that bad if it's barebones. Edited July 9, 2016 by Kav

I need to see whether using more than one Pokemon in a gym fight means that none of them can be left or not. I agree on the CP thing - the defending Pokemon seems to have a big advantage. Best bet is to keep dodging, then when you get a full blue segment, click and hold to do your main move.

DriftKaiser Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 I picked Pikachu as my starter and there are 4 pokestops next to my workplace which is handy cos I get alot of pokemon like Pidgey, Ratatta, Spearow and Eevee turn up. Caught a Squirtle in the back of the warehouse and a Ponyta with 238 CP in the middle of my house using the incense. I evolved a Pidgey with high CP into Pidgeot.

Sheikah Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 @Eddage I found out your Pokemon needs to be full health to go in the gym. So heal any Pokemon that did the fighting then add them in.

Falcon_BlizZACK Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 SO this is good yeah? Its amazing how when Nintendo actually pull their finger out on their projects, they suddenly feel so relevant. I'm hoping this gives them the confidence to do better things with their franchises. [tweet]751491424990953476[/tweet] Brilliant God bless the Pidgeot.

Eddage Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 @Eddage I found out your Pokemon needs to be full health to go in the gym. So heal any Pokemon that did the fighting then add them in. Yeah I did some research after my post last night and realised this, thought I'd healed my Hypno up but apparently it was missing a couple of HP. Went out again this morning, completely drained my phone battery in two hours! Took over four gyms and left a lower level 'mon at each of them (one of which has already been kicked out - I swear I'm the only one around here who chose the Blue Team ), figured I should keep my Hypno with me as my powerhouse since he's now in the 600's. A lot of PokeStops and gyms nearest my house are on walking paths so my phone signal keeps dropping at annoying times, have missed out on a few catches because of this. Tomorrow is Monday though which means gym in the morning followed by a walk around central Bristol and slowly back towards my house. Hoping to see a lot of Pokemon/PokeStop/Gyms around the centre! What level are people? I just hit level 9 this morning, gonna try and get to level 10 before tomorrow but with the Tennis, Football and waiting on a delivery not sure if I'll get to go out again today.
