Hero-of-Time
You've said Splatoon is an empty shell of a game, and criticised the voice chat situation a lot. As for the others, you probably have, but I don't remember every post for the past few years, all I know is most things you say is negative. Again, not a criticism of you, it just seems that way. In a big way. You can have that opinion, some of the time I agree with it, but in general I'd say you were one of the most negative people on here regarding nintendo. While at the same time he probably posts more videos and game updates than anyone else on here, despite him not liking certain aspects of the games he's posting the news about. dazzybee
That's why I said in terms of gaming announcements. I know, but I thought it was quite redundant As we're taking about how they're presented (live show or video) and not the amount of games shown if that makes sense. While at the same time he probably posts more videos and game updates than anyone else on here, despite him not liking certain aspects of the games he's posting the news about. Agreed. As I keep saying, I'm not criticising him for it, or saying it isn't valid, just commenting.
Wii
I'm not getting them mixed up at all, the treehouse was great, but the direct was brilliant. Admit it, I wasn't attacking you, people can converse in other ways than defence or attack, more an observation, you attack nintendo for most things they do. Do you really deny that? You've said Splatoon is an empty shell of a game, and criticised the voice chat situation a lot. I don't deny I criticise Nintendo but it's only because I care. You don't ever see me in the PS4 or XBOX1 threads. Why? Because I don't give a damn about them. I knew Nintendo were doomed before the launch of the Wii U. How come I could see the $h1tstorm coming but they couldn't? This is their job, their sole purpose as a company, they don't have other departments like the other companies. The reason I continually criticise them is that this isn't like a one game thing, fine, let's all move on. This is a console(Wii U) that is around for years with daily reminders of their mistakes. Voicechat? I'm hardly alone in criticising them about that. It's here and on every forum. Their refusal to embrace change and Splatoon is more regressive than Smash and MK8 in that regard. I'll show you what I said about Splatoon after the Direct, give me a minute to find the quote. I was hardly critical. And especially compared to what others here were saying. I've the game bought sure. http://n-europe.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1752195&postcount=885 I was looking back through the thread and I've posted literally tonnes of positive posts including previews, links to cheap prices for the game, amiibo news, I've not been negative at all. I suggest you look at my posts and then say again I've been negative about it. @dazzybee Edited May 14, 2015 by Wii

Yeah, it was fun and different, just like the video they put out yesterday. They still need to trim the fat though. That whole segment in the wool shop was dire and the Smash Bros stuff went on for way too long ( think it was about 10 mins of a 47 min conference ), especially when we had already seen a bunch of stuff about that throughout the year. Basically I think there was too much stuff with the developers that could and should have been cut. In this regard it was no different that what the other two were doing except rather than having them on a stage they were in a different setting. This is a console(Wii U) that is around for years with daily reminders of their mistakes. I suspect in 10 years time we're going to look back at the Wii U in the same way we look back at the Gamecube. A console that didn't sell but with amazing games. 3D World, Pikmin, Smash, MK8, Wonderful 101, ZombiU, Donkey Kong, Mario Maker, Splatoon, Starfox, Zelda, Captain Toad, Xenoblade, Bayonetta and loads more unannounced. Daily reminders of their mistakes? If you sat back, relaxed and just enjoyed their games for what they are you'd be far happier. I personally love my Wii U, this is a great time to be a Nintendo fan IMO, they've been on fire software wise for the past few years.

I bet the splatoon voice chat issue pisses me off more than you. I just made a comment about you being negative, an observation, it feels sometimes like it fudges your objectivity, but nothing to get defensive about. Yeah, it was fun and different, just like the video they put out yesterday. They still need to trim the fat though. Yeah the wool shop stuff is the bit that sticks in my mind as being boring. I liked the setting and the idea of it, but it should've moved along much quicker. But then they didn't have much to move to Hopefully this year there'll be way more games so it can have some energy to it all. As for it being similar to what the others did/do, I agree, but I much much prefer the presentation of the video. They can be much more creative and interesting in how they present things. And loved the humour/personality. Who knows, maybe this years will be awful.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the console and probably played more games on the system than most people on here but I can see where people are coming from when they say they dislike it and have since moved away to another console. If you're looking for games to play online and to socialise with your friends then the console will be a major letdown for you. The same goes for if you don't care for the platformer genre. I don't think it will be looked upon as fondly as the Cube. The Cube at least had half decent 3rd party support. Also, things like online gaming were in their infancy across all the consoles, whereas now they are standard practice across the other platforms and it's easy to see just how out of the loop Nintendo are. I've been saying the same thing for ages too, I have no doubt whatsoever hindsight will put the wii u in classic territory. People slagged the n64, gamecube and wii too. People slag off the films, music etc that get released as not as good as they used to be... Fact is, over time, the shit fades away and when distilled, you realise how good things are. I can definitely relate to being cynical. I thought that happened to you when you reached about 60, almost enjoy complaining about things like "In my day". Or maybe that's cantankerous I'm thinking of or senility. I've probably got all 3. :p

Jonnas
I'd say people start complaining about "today's media" being uninteresting around their late 20s or so, if my older cousins are anything to go by. It's just a thing that happens to us all at any age. Usually because we are saturated of a genre, or because we actually need something different at that point of our lives, or both. RedShell
I'm sure it will still be a laugh, especially if yesterdays video was anything to go by. I doubt Mega64 will have anything to do with the actual Digital Event, as that would be insane. That new vid has definitely got me hyped for Nintendo's E3 stuff though. Really glad the Treehouse events are back too, they were great last year.
Murr
Another Nintendo thread that got ugly. Anyways here's what I realistically expect to see from Nintendo and what I would love to see: Realistic Predictions: StarFox Wii U shown and release date confirmed Xenoblade Chronicles, Mario Maker, Devils Third shown and dates confirmed Mario Kart 8 More DLC More Amiibo's Splatoon DLC Smash Bros DLC Retro game revealed - Likely to be Metroid Nintendo NX talked about briefly Nintendo Mobile division announced possible games shown. Pokken Tournament confirmed for WiiU Hopes and Dreams F Zero UX for Wii U revealed Metroid Universe for Wii U 100% revealed Animal Crossing Wii U revealed Super Punch-U-Out for WiiU revealed Metroid and F Zero DLC packs for MK8 Nintendo FX full reveal Older Amiibo's restocked and more available. peterl0
For me I think that if one of Advance Wars, Metroid, F Zero or a new Retro IP were announced more than what we already know then I would be happy with E3. If it was mario strikers, punch out, animal crossing I would understand it but I would be left feeling a bit flat. If it was mario (or super) tennis then I would be very happy, but that is probably only me.
Retro_Link
Though, and this will be hard for you - the worlds most negative man, but try and be objective. The direct last year was one of the best things at any e3, it was easily better than any live conference. The direct is the best way for nintendo to showcase their games. It was? I don't remember anything special about it. It had a funny intro, but their stage shows have often had intro videos. What was so great about it? I have trouble looking past the wool shop. Treehouse Day 1 and 2 was where it was at. There's way too much cringeworthyness, awkward pauses, fake applause and self-congratulation for me to like the press conferencesMakes it for me. We can all have a laugh in chat and at least it's memorable! Same way the wool shop was... see Directs can also be cringe worthy, in fact, the way Nintendo deliver the Directs is often feel uncomfortable with awkward pauses, silence and a lack of flow. He complains about EVERYTHING. Something gets announced and he finds something to complain about, even if he has to scrape the bottom of the barrel to do so.Wii is pretty much holding up and hyping Xenoblade alone. I don't deny I criticise Nintendo but it's only because I care. You don't ever see me in the PS4 or XBOX1 threads. Why? Because I don't give a damn about them. I knew Nintendo were doomed before the launch of the Wii U.Still can't quite believe it's called Wii U. Ronnie
Ok so would people have preferred the developers talked about their game in a sterile, white room? I just don't understand the hate for the wool shop, it was obviously a big inspiration for the game, and it was a location that was a little bit different to the norm. I quite enjoyed those 5 minutes. In a Sony or Microsoft presentation, it would have taken that long for a developer to make their way to the stage, a few awkwardly delivered quotes, sale figures and applause and for a trailer to finally be shown. I would have preferred what they done with Kirby and Captain Toad, just gave us a trailer and let the game do the talking for itself. The inspiration stuff can be saved for Iwata Asks or some kind of roundtable. For me, it's just needless padding. I have the same issue with the other pressers when developers come on stage and waffle on. Just show the game and be done with it.
Ronnie
Surprised to hear you say that, I really like the way they mixed in a few developer diaries in there. If it was just trailer after trailer with no chat in between the whole presentation would be 15 minutes long! I prefer 5 minutes per game, than non-stop trailers where you can't take anything in. I agree with you re: the PS and Xbox presentations though, way too much waffle, but last year Nintendo did it right IMO.
Retro_Link
Then why not show some gameplay and have the developers talk about their inspiration over it, that'd be fine. It was dull. Also, you don't have to keep jumping on Sony and Microsoft all the time. Those press conference dragged at times (I think about 30mins for Sony :p) and had their problems too. But we're talking about Nintendo here.
