Level-5 just announced a new installment in the Professor Layton series. Layton 7 is in development for Nintendo 3DS, iOS, and Android. The game’s genre is "role play puzzle."

A demo shown on Level-5′s smartphone showed a 3D world players and players could rotate the camera.

I thought that they already brought out the very last Layton game - in Japan at least - I distinctly recall Shibata saying so in the last Nintendo direct that it would be 'the last ever game in the Professor Layton series' so I guess they don't want to let it go after all? :p

It might shock some people but I've never actually properly played a single game in the series before... I can see the appeal but I just never bothered. :hmm:

I wasn't quite sure what was going on in that video, but as a hardcore™ Layton fan I'm curious to know the exact mechanics of it.

Just release Fantasy Life on the eShop Level-5, ffs.

Gives me that Layton london life & Fantasy Life (early) feel...

Except for no where near as fun looking as either of those titles...I'm honestly worried about the future of the franchise Layton Brothers is not all that....

My first thought "YES!! NEW LAYTON!!", then my second thought was "WTF IS THIS SHIT?!"

I'm praying that's just one of the puzzles were you control the dog and have to sniff out the baddie. Need to restart Layton 5 because Animal Crossing/MH3U came as I started playing it. Only an hour or two in, and I need it done for the next one (though Pokemon X/Y will be out...)

Isn't it Level-5 who did Fantasy Life? They need to step on the peddle and get a translation done; the rest of the world loves these types of games.

Doesn't look like Rune Factory 4 is stepping over to the UK either. No DQ remake, too (and it's sequel). They're really letting the side down lately with translating RPGs to the UK.

@Sheikah I've only played the first one, and I both liked and hated it at the same time. The puzzles were great, but I couldn't give a robotic rat's ass about the "story" and going around the town. Just give me a game with nothing but the puzzles, and I'd be totally happy.

Ah. I've played maybe 3-4 and I think I completed 2 or 3 of them. I think if you played more of them you'd probably lose interest too since you sound like how I felt.
