Xpert 11 Season 27: We few, we happy few, we band of brothers

Recommended Posts

Xpert 11 Season 27

This day is called the start of Xpert Season 27:

He that outlives this season, and is safe,

Will stand a tip-toe when the awards are named,

And rouse him at the name of Xpert.

He that shall live this day, and see the change report,

Will yearly on the vigil train his youths,

And say 'To-morrow is the new Xpert Season:'

Then will he strip his sleeve and show his trophies.

And say 'These victories I had on NE Xpert.'

Other games are forgot: yet all shall be forgot,

But managers remember with advantages

What feats he did each season: then shall our names.

Familiar in his mouth as household words

Odwin the king, Eights and Ell,

DuD and Zell, MadDog and Nikos,

Be in their winning cups freshly remember'd.

This story shall the good forumite teach his friends;

And Xpert 11 shall ne'er go by,

From this day to the ending of the forums,

But we in it shall be remember'd;

We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;

For he to-day that starts this season with me

Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile to dirty trick,

This season shall gentle his condition:

And gentlemen in England now on other forums

Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,

And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks

That fought with us in

Xpert Season 27!

Eights United:

Another great season and another league victory, while they did not manage the double again they showed without a doubt they are the best team in the league. What we learnt about Eights this season is even after a double loss to their nearest rival, Odwinica, they still won the league. This shows that they don't panic and consistently get wins. No other club has the sheer depth of talent and mental strength of Eights United. It is saying something that most clubs would consider a draw at home to be a great result against this side. Fjellbekk will not have many seasons left he would love to leave a club that won three league titles on the trot.

A good season if: They were to win the league and be unbeaten in the top league, this would be groundbreaking.

A bad season if: They come 2nd or under, the only way is to stay on top or go down for this club.

China 2013

The next big thing? The potential and history is there they just need to believe in themselves and show the world what they are made of.

travel-deals-to-beijing.jpg

Battlestar Odwinica:

A disappointing 2nd for Odwinica saw a number of players leave as the manger restructured his side, the manager is very keen to bring groups of players up at the same age. He has three 18 year old midfielders, three 22 year old defenders and two 22 year old forwards. This policy has meant he has spent big on supporting the youth with high calibre players. This squad does not have the depth or bite of the previous season and it will take very keen man management to push for the title in the same way. An injury or two could derail any serious title hopes this time around but with their manager you would not put anything past this side.

A good season if: Odwinica win the league. That is what all the fans want and the longer they have to wait the more they want it.

A bad season if: They fall into the mid to lower half of the table and suffer an injury crisis that hampers their youth development policy.

Intergalatigo Stars

Once tipped to be the dominant force in the top league for seasons to come, they had both a top class manager and an outstanding team. The days of Sting, Zidane and Undertaker are over but a new group of players are eager to prove their worth. Inter have strength at the back with Benoit, Fu and the amazing Ramos. The manager endured criticism over the transfer period over a dodgy deal with a club hated by fans which went into liquidation. Still maybe some pressure will bring the best out of a club that has drifted from the top of the league that they once owned.

A good season if: They get to that third title before Eights United and establish themselves as the team to beat once more.

A bad season if: Inter continue to drop off the pace and if the Seahawks players turn out to be a liability to a manager who risked his reputation bringing them to the club.

Madpool

Madpool fans are long suffering, the team that have long been admired for their passing and style have never got that big trophy to vindicate their tactics. Hales, Trainer and co have been admired for some time but will be desperate for more consistent wins as time for many of Madpool's players is running out. The manager apparently toyed with the idea of retirement (Don't!!!) but he surely has to follow through his youth project which seems to already have begun. Johnson and Levia are the future of a side that needs to combine finesse with a more clinical nature. Will be an interesting season to watch this team.

A good season if: They can consistently pick up wins and push for a top two spot, this will be a great antidote to a slide they have recently endured.

A bad season if: They finish 5th or lower and see two or more big names hang up their boots at the end of the season.

Silverdale Hotpot

A former champion who had a nail biting relegation battle last season, so why are they still grouped with these three teams? While they did have a tough season they haven't undergone an Odwinica style transformation and as such have grown as a side. Orellana is evidence of this, this young midfielder has grown thanks to the stability Silverdale have cultivated as a club. However this season they need to get out the blocks and quickly, their fans do not want another season of worry. Their squad is strong enough to compete with any team in this league lets see if they can do it!

A good season if: Silverdale beat some of the best sides in this league and finish in the top three.

A bad season if: Silverdale again get off to a bad start and find themselves in a relegation fight two seasons in a row.

Byzantine Empire 1054

Once a part of the Empire now rebuilding itself and surrounded by hostilities from below and above, survival needs to be achieved then expansion can be thought of.

Yellow Submarine

The shock story of last season was the success of Yellow Submarine, great victories against Silverdale and a draw with Odwinica that saw them gunning for a top five finish until a poor end to the season. This was combined with lifting the cup in a glorious 7-2 rout of Leeds M.O.T, to gain their first tourney silverware. Still on the back of a Middle League win this was a fantastic debut in the top league for Yellow Submarine. One word sums up this team, intelligence, they are patient and wait for a through ball or a defence that loses its shape. Viana and Falcao carry on this tradition but the whole team seem to have a second nature knowing what their team-mates are thinking. A first class goalie is what the team needs but further success is surely on the way.

A good season if: Yellow Submarine break into the top five at the expense of one of the above teams.

A bad season if: They find themselves victims of teams who have been promoted from the Middle League this season.

DuDs Baggies

A side who have stayed in the top league before for two seasons but then got relegated the Baggies will be hoping to make it three seasons in a row this time. Baggies have never won a trophy but staying up will mean more to their fans than a Middle League title. Baggies spent big in the transfer period letting some of the older players go. A scattering of youths is also complimented by two huge defenders Carrascosa and Unnarsson, these players will hopefully bring defensive stability at the back and the odd goal at corners. They have lots of young talent in their forward line but with Balboa ending his 2 year contract at the end of this season the manager may have to spend big to replace him next year.

A good season if: Baggies cement their place in the top league and find a way to promote teamwork among their new signings.

A bad season if: Baggies don't find a way to bring stability to the club and and find themselves relegated.

Swedish Empire 1631

Achieving incredible things with limited resources and a lack of respect from fellow great Empires, will history be cruel or kind as it moves forward?

Swedish-Art-Wahlbom.jpg

Winston Gardens FC

Winston Gardens stormed to success last season with their first trophy with Middle League success. They have been in the Elite league before and found it tough going but will be hoping to make their stay permanent this time. A side that are led out by Rosebotham who had an incredible season last time around dominating the Middle League with 21 points from 18 games. Their attack seems to be a weakness as it is youth dominated but it is very quick with Ingham and Benmouih causing defences trouble with their pace. This means Gardens have to be a well drilled team with training at its core. They will hope to take a scalp or two and establish themselves back in the summit of leagues.

A good season if: Rosebotham shines again and some of the youths get top league experience while finishing 7th or above.

A bad season if: The team go down and Rosebotham announces he is playing for a team of quality like Hadens Rangers next season.

Rising Phoenix

Apart from being kept up because of administrative reasons RP have been relegated every season they have gone up to the Elite League. They are desperate for this season to be different but face very tough competition. They have an ageing but strong backbone to their team, Jerimo and JJ who is retiring this season being loyal servants as well as a very strong defence. Their more youth orientated front line up which is headed by Kingston will prove a challenge to any team. In previous seasons the team has played negative football in the top league and still gone down, the manager has said this will not be the case this year. If this new open approach benefits the team or not is yet to be seen but should boost attendance figures at least!

A good season if: RP manage to get a scalp or two and impose their will on fellow promotees avoiding relegation for the first time ever.

A bad season if: RP's new style backfires and they are humiliated in several games causing relegation and retirements at the end of the season.

AC Elites

Looked at one point to be heading towards a humiliating double relegation they turned their season around to finish 3rd in a very competitive Middle League this season. The manager is an ambitious one and with players like Bergwijn being brought in it is there here and now that the manager is focused on. Indeed his team has a certain lack of youths but is a team that is collected, strong in the air and in teamwork. Bodin will be a huge threat this season and many teams will be hard pressed to expose a weak point in this team. They will be hoping to get a better start and build off early momentum to stay in the top flight.

A good season if: the Elites stay up and consistently have players that are in the Xpert 11.

A bad season if: form is low compared to younger teams and injuries make it tough to get the best out of this set of players

Real Peeps:

Felt like a long time last season like they would stay up but sadly they did not grind out enough results and find themselves in the Middle League again. It is a different team this season with several players ending their career and many youths hoping to gain more playing time this year. Pilgrim is the sign of a team that cultivates talent while also keeping a backbone in players such as Terrie and Biggins. However they are also a very small side, only 17 players (two of whom are retiring and are off the pace of the Middle League). The forward line up lacks punch with only two players both of whom are under 26. However Real Peeps will not let this phase them, they are a side that will fight for each other with a manager who is entering a more experienced era in his career. The title hunt will not be beyond this small but secure team.

A good season if: the youngsters perform and take the slack off the veteran players, with goals arriving from the midfield and forwards. Promotion would be hoped for.

A bad season if: the team run out of steam and options in a long season that sees their strikers frustrated and youths unready.

Atheltico Aquila

Did well against their fellow strugglers last season but failed to make much of an impact against the bigger sides which cost them dearly in the end. Atheltico have a very youth orientated squad hoping to build up again, they have four players under 20 in their midfield line up with Scott Page being the most experienced member by far. Fishcake is retiring at the end of this season and remains their strongets player in a rather weak looking forward line up. The defence though is much more solid and will be hard to break down. Bringing together the youth and controlling midfields will be a challenge this season. Harmony rather than instant promotion may be the goal.

A good season if: the youths merge and produce a glimpse into the future of this side while winning enough games to ensure the home fans are happy.

A bad season if: there is just not enough talent in this side to prevent a rout or two which in turn may propel this side towards the Lower League again.

The 64s

A team steeped in history they are the only original season one team left in the NE league. They have never won the top title but have won the Middle League before and could again this year. Their side has a good mix of youth and experience in it, over 8 players have 100 games at the club making them 64s legends. Some new transfers have been met with unhappiness such as bringing in Hamberg who many feel is below the standard of the club. Still the 64s do have the talent in all areas and in the Middle League they have thrived before and could well thrive again.

A good season if: another Middle League trophy is acquired to add to their collection.

A bad season if: a team with so much prestige and history get overtaken by newer teams that want a place in the top league.

Prussia 1866

Once considered a rather downtrodden part of the world, now everyone is starting to notice and fear them, victories after victories leave everything thinking, what is next?

Batterie+der+Toten+-+Austro+Prussian+war+-+1866+-+Bismark+-+Germany+-+Peter+Crawford.jpg

The Roger Federer Crew

The second favourite team of many people, they play unpredictable, fast paced football and are only two seasons old. The manager revamped the defence which has a great combination of youth and experience all it needs now is to work together. Their attack is exciting and fast paced with Normqvist being a great new addition to the set up. Fosatti and Weyermann give support up front and to the back. This team has never finished outside the top 4 of a league and have high expectations, the manager is a very hard man to read and the prospect of this team versus bob is making neutrals put their bets on 5-4 scorelines already.

A good season if: they continue to win over the neutrals with free flowing football and finish high up the table yet again.

A bad season if: to many new players and formations unsettle the team and lead to a loss of momentum and points.

Dragooooo

The roar of Dragooooo may have lessened slightly in recent seasons but only because the manager wants to make his teams entry into the top league a more permanent arrangement. A great 5-0 win against Winston Gardens show the team still has a big team mentality. This is reassuring for the fans as some big players left the club in the transfer window, they still have Kellner and Wielink but the emphasis now is on players like Hottges, Dijk and Ryding. What is promising is the team has players all over the pitch who are natural goal scorers and can be a dangerous team to underestimate. The challenge this season will be to balance youth development with some wins against big teams coming into the Middle League.

A good season if: the youths make an impact and help rather than hinder another good Middle League season.

A bad season if: after a rough start either wins or youth development are sacrificed for the remaining part of the season.

Hadens Rangers

Rangers had a good season last time around, at one point they looked ripe for promotion but after flip flopping over what they wanted they got another season in the Middle League. Their midfield has long been the development target for this team and it is now starting to come to fruition. Some veterans left Rangers this season but Astle remains as a legend within the club. Conden however is the future with multiple others wanting to step up to be the next big midfield player. They are solid at the back and building for the future up front. They are a fast team that likes to dominate possession and will be aiming high this season.

A good season if: they have the guts to go forth and conquer rather than aiming for fourth.

A bad season if: Injuries stall their very successful youth movement which is now in full swing.

The Comrade Co-op

The manager of the Co-op has long been given praise for how he has got the best out of average players. While they have been in the top league before the team looks weak compared to other Middle League sides. Chmutov is past his prime and retiring this season while both goalies and four defenders are lacking experience and may be in need of leader. The squad size of 20 will also make it hard to rotate players in a way that gives them all time to shine. However let us not forget this side stayed up last season, they scored 4 against Winston FC (and conceded 4) and beat Dragooooo. The manager punishes sides that underestimate his team and has shown himself to be a fighter. Next season they will need to bring that to the table to prove everyone wrong.

A good season if: they scrap it and out and manage to land a mid table position proving their worth.

A bad season if: they go down fighting and face a season in the Lower League without Chmutov leading them.

Sardinia 1830

Have slowly been building their influence and now feel it is time to sit at the big table, if they could unify their neighbours they could move to the next level.

Leeds M.O.T

It has been a rough few seasons for Leeds fans, their club looked to be at an end when the club was demoted to the lower league after being in the top flight twice. But it has all changed now after an amazing season in which they won the Lower League at a canter and made it all the way to the Cup final knocking out Eights United on the way! Looking at their team you can see why, Woodlands, Mancebo and the outgoing McGee make a tremendous backbone of talent. Add to the mix youth like Burchell and you can see the manager has a long term plan. His style is to be hard hitting, attacking and dominant in the air. He will have to be more wary of teams that can hurt his team at the back a fact that was exposed in the final when Leeds lost heavily to Yellow Submarine, but compared to a few seasons back its a great time to be a Leeds fan.

A good season if: Leeds carry on attacking teams and show they are just as good if not better than most of the teams in the Middle League.

A bad season if: Leeds are exposed at the back and their season of success is shown to be a flash in the pan.

Bayern Neverlusen

Back in the Middle League after a one season interval, Bayern are starting to live up to the pedigree of their award winning manager. Balance has been sought across the small 17 man team with Fraser being the standout player in this squad. There have not been any transfers for quite some time and the manager refused to let his team play in the cup. This speaks of a manager who wants to very carefully cultivate his teams growth. This is also reflected in their playing style, this team does not usually concede many goals and will do all it can to avoid a damaging rout. They will feel it is now time for them to take a more permanent place in the Middle League.

A good season if: Bayern carry on ascending at a steady pace and finish 6th or above with great development values.

A bad season if: they are exposed in the face of more developed opponents and injuries take their toll on the small squad size.

Bob

They started this season with a 8-0 win and went on to beat Inter in the cup 3-0. Exciting, unpredictable, attacking football with crazy formations and a team that are related on a first name basis, you are at bob. Coming in with his new squad bob never played like other managers but still found success and this season broke out into the Middle League. With 20 players both young and old it is a team that is almost all home grown. They are potent up front and in midfield, their team is not the most skilled compared to other middle league sides but each player seems to bring a unique talent with him. Defence is a weak point of this team, this combined with their attacking mentality may lead to some heavy defeats. One thing is for sure, do not miss 04/06/2013 bob is away to Roger Federer Crew in what is already shaping up to be match of the season.

A good season if: their mad cap style is enough to keep them up in a very competitive league.

A bad season if: heavy losses sees humiliation rather than celebration in their first season in the Mid League.

City States

Venice 1198

A state with influence that attracts and intimidates both Empires and Kingdoms, they are the centre of trade and always looking to expand.

braun_hogenberg_i_43_b1.jpg

Coloccini FC

A deceptively new side who have felt like they have been around for longer than their 5 season stint. They will be disappointed to find themselves back in the Lower League but it may be for the best. They have a developing team with half their team 21 years old or younger, it is a very compact side of only 16 with no stand out superstars. The team have not seen a transfer for a while and the insistence of the manager to develop youth may have led to a long losing streak last season but will begin to pay off this time around. They have a fast paced style and will be an experienced side amongst many new ones hoping to gain some experience and hopefully another Lower League trophy for their collection.

A good season if: with 16 players they win another Lower League trophy and have a great change report before coming back into the Middle League.

A bad season if: formations and youth they want to play are interrupted by suspensions and injuries and they come 4th or lower.

Fedex United

After a few flirtations with promotion United vastly underperformed this season and surprisingly were relegated. They have a very strong side and will be red hot faves for the Lower League title, their defence is packed full of talent. They have several players who have great stamina that allows them to dictate the pace of the game, pushing their opponents with pressure when they tire. It is also a team full of intelligent players especially in attack, they can often create chances out of nothing. They have a large squad of 20 and may need to focus slightly on age gaps in the entire side. However they are a professional group and will be favourites in most of the games they play.

A good season if: Fedex win the title without losing a game, it has been done before and could be done again.

A bad season if: they finish 2nd or 3rd without developing their youth throughout the season.

Recall United

Recall have been around for a long time as a team, they have had moments of glory and league success as well as moments of humiliation. Last season was a slight non event, they never really got going as a side and disappointed many of their fans. However the manager had his eye on long term glory and looking at players like Silverio you can see this starting to pay off. The manager has brought in new kids like Simeoni and with genuine stars such as Celbridge giving the side a natural leader they should be set to make a promotion push this year. One troubling point is the forward line, it looks weak even for a lower league side and it is not even that young. Still it will be interesting to see what the manager tries to do with this team in a non pressured environment.

A good season if: Recall get the goals despite the forward line and are promoted with money in the kitty to have a good buy in the summer to reinforce areas that are lacking.

A bad season if: they fade into obscurity again which they should not considering the amount of new teams.

Andy All Stars

Don't say you can't win anything with kids to this manager! With only 5 players over 23 he will not have any of it. The All Stars team have many admirers, they have an incredibly well drilled youth development programme which gives the manager a wide range of choices when it comes to picking recruits. The team also spent big on new striker Boya who will need to prove his worth alongside home grown team-mates. All Stars finished 6th for a few seasons but 8th last time around, they need to go back up the league and combine youth development with league success. The few older players need to start to act as leaders to the youths because while this team are still relatively new they are facing brand new teams, they need to impose their style on them.

A good season if: They break into the top 5 and some of the older players begin to mature as leaders around the pitch.

A bad season if: They finish 7th or lower and fail to dominate games and prove to be a soft touch.

Milan 1450

A place of finance, adventure, misadventure and scheming that could bring others and themselves down.

milancathedral.jpg

AC Twozzino

After a great season and amazing cup run to the semi final, beating Winston Gardens on the way, they are on a natural high. The strength of the side lies in their midfield with Kalev providing devastating freekicks and great crosses. Ben Haim is a defender who can play in many positions and is coveted by the best teams in the top league. The forward line up is quite youthful but powerful enough to penetrate most lower league defences. This season could be an early breakthrough to the Middle League and all eyes will be on how the cope then. A side to watch for out for this season.

A good season: will see tactics honed and a clear gap between the newest sides and Twozzino

A bad season: will see last seasons promise forgotten and the team dragged into the quagmire of the bottom 5.

Rossers Rovers

After a great opening season where they finished 4th Rovers are back again hoping to achieve another top 5 finish. A double against Recall United showed they had great potential and it is starting to come to fruition. They have more than one natural goalscorers and multiple players that can prize a defence open with a through ball or pin point lob. They have a large 20 squad team and no real stand out players yet but this season that could change as some players will be looking to make a name for themselves.

A good season if: Rossers build on their potential and score another top 4 finish with their large team that is raring for another great year.

A bad season if: Rossers fail to build on last season and finish outside the top 5 with players looking to leave the team after this year.

Cubic County

A team that have had a controversial past, formed from the ashes of Cube's last club they have been all but abandoned by their manager who has taken an extended holiday. The team has carried on without his tactics but this season he seems to be back at the helm ready to take charge. With Dillin they have a natural leader who will help lead their club in this difficult time. Walters at the back is a first class player who will give County some stability at the back. They have some dead-weight thanks to the mismanagement of the team but they are still in good shape and could surprise everyone this season.

A good season if: County make the top 5 and start developing their team making up for lost time.

A bad season if: the manager take a holiday to South America and never return...

Florence 1520

Watching, waiting, ready to pick up on weakness and rise when you least expect it.

Lez Balbuzards

Seahawks FC have gone into insolvency but the manager has found a new home at Lez Balbuzards. The team is quite well balanced although the goalies are not yet of the best quality. Bonjour will be hoping to welcome many teams to Leatherhead with a goal or two and looks the best natural talent from this new club. The manager spent multiple seasons in the Middle League last season and his first objective with this new team will be to make it back there.

A good season if: the team finish in the top 5 and the manager shows his talent was wasted at Seahawks FC.

A bad season if: the new manager fails to build a relationship with the new team and falls 8th or lower.

JD Utd

A new arrival at the scene the manager made a big impact on his home town team as soon as he arrived. He sent his scout to different countries on a mission to find the best youth talents around the world. Using money wisely 5 new youths have been brought in before the debut season commences. This means the team is very young especially up front but players like Brydon and Hodge give the team a solid backbone in midfield. This season will be the managers time to explore his new team and find out what this game is about.

A good season if: the manager makes it to the end of the season with a couple of wins under his belt and a squad that is in better shape than when he started.

A bad season if: the manager leaves us before it ends, please don't!

Multiple Scorgasms

The name may outrage a few but the real headlines this new team wants is to cause a shock or few in their first season. They are given a hand with Heinecke being a player with top league quality who will surely net at least 7 goals if given a chance to play. He will hopefully combine well with other strikers who each bring a different talent to the pitch. A very solid midfield and goalie line-up is only let down by a young and weak defence but this may encourage some interesting attacking tactics.

A good season if: the manager makes it to the end of the season with a couple of wins under his belt and a squad that is in better shape than when he started.

A bad season if: the manager leaves us before it ends, please don't!

It's probably worth noting, that at time of writing, Neverlusen are the 4th strongest side in the Middle League ;)

How do you find that out? What is it based on? Is it more VIP rubbish?

Yes it's VIP and no it's not rubbish :indeed: He has 8 skill bars and is listed as the 4th strongest team as such. I think it is an average of all the players skill.

You can also do it manually by going onto team pages and seeing the team's skill. VIP puts it into a list.

Only one win in the Middle League. Was initially pleased at the draw with Peeps, a Top League relegee, but then I noticed the possession and disappointed not to create more chances. Peeps' defence played very well!

Just looked at that game along with the tactics report. I can't believe you only got a draw out of that! Mad..

Awesome first post Haden.

So who is up for an alliance with me? You must have a potential and desire to win the your respective league!

I got the funds now, i may very well invest in a striker to beef it up a little.

Had a draw today, not too bad.

And i'm looking for an Alliance (unless i'm still in one, in which case woo hoo)

Close win but it cost me.

Wasn't all good news today though, for the first time my official team is getting relegated :( Mostly this is because I brought in a youth keeper as the main keeper, when I still had the oldie I was almost promoted to the 4th division. I expect to come straight back up, and maybe with another title.

Can anyone ask the Roger Federer Crew if he would like to be in an alliance with me and Fedex? I think him and Fedex would get on well, what with both of their teams being devoted to Federer 'n' all! :p

Unless Tales doesn't want you Peeps, in which case we'll have you!

Got a good draw away at Haden. Also picked up a very bad injury for Graciano Velho. :(

Not really that bothered about relegation and promotion is off the cards. Going for development, and we'll see where we are in a few seasons time. But, this is it now. I have my squad and now its time to groooow.

DRAGOOOOOO!

DRAGOOOOOOOOOO!

DRA-GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Awesome win today against Silverdale. I loved how my 8 skilled defender had a match rating of 12.

My objectives for this season are to firstly avoid relegation and secondly develop my current squad and youths so that we'll be even stronger next season. Need 2-3 more seasons before my youths hit their prime.

Hats off to your team they have come on leaps and bounds and surely are nearly ready to get into the top elite group of clubs!
