General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion

Or it shows how big a launch it is for a console that has a low install base.

Mr. Glass is half empty

Truly the master of spin

It sold well, especially considering previous releases. Let's all leave it at that.

Still outsold by the 3DS technically, but good to see it still hanging on. Hopefully this gets some developers interested in the thing, I really want some competition to ramp up

You don't have to try and defend Nintendo this time - save it for another post.

PAL UK Charts - Week 13, 2013

Nice to see Lego City and Luigi's mansion up there. Monster Hunter dropped pretty fast it seems.

Of course it did. There have been mass shortages since launch; Amazon only just got the 3DS version back in stock today (and have even slapped an extra £5 on the price tag! http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00B5Q83LG/ref=twister_dp_update?ie=UTF8&psc=1 )

Meanwhile it's storming the eShop charts (just behind Luigi's Mansion 2 this weekend)

Nice to see LCS and LM2 doing fairly well though :)

It's so stupid how digital sales aren't counted. I bought both BioShock and Tomb Raider digitally last week.

All three of the console manufacturers still don't like sharing the information, which is pretty retarded. Not commenting on the sales of anything has the benefit of people not being able to report it selling terrible, but the fact they only open their mouth when something sells a lot pretty much gives away to any one with half a brain the digital sales are still no where near the level they wish it was at.

It's not just them, Steam is the big one I want to hear about.

Indeed. For the consoles, the sales data will be inconsequential, or they'd be shouting about it from the rooftops. But given BioShock got to number 9 based solely on PC retail sales , it really makes me wonder how much higher it would have been if Steam sales were added in as well.

Vita holding strong? It dropped almost 10k from last week. How is that holding strong?

Meaning it didn’t drop anymore. There were no major releases and it dropped 10k. It will slide even more nwo as there is nothing out in April but I thought by now it would be closer to 20k than 30k.

I don't know, No.10's not bad, is it? Either way, they should get them making 2D Metroids again!

It's not great but they weren't expecting much. They only shipped 100,000 units. What were you expecting? 500,000 units and Wii U pushed to 100,000?

People really aren't logical with their guesses

its still low even for a 100k shipment. Sales of the game will be much lower next week so it wont be anywhere close to even 50% of the shipment. TBH I wasnt expecting much. I thought G & W could do 50k while never thought DQX would do anything as people already have it on wii but with those 2 games plus a hardware bundle I thought the Wii U would could of expected at least a bump to 40k - 50k.

Japan

04/24 Pokemon Scramble U

05/23 BioHazard: Revelations - Unveiled Edition

06/06 Injustice: Kamigami no Gekitotsu

Rabbids Land

06/27 F1 Race Stars: Powered Up Edition

Please Nintendo get your shit together. I cant believe there is no major title for the next major holiday in Japan which is Golden Week.

No offence meant but you write like you're an expert on sales and have made a list of how much each game should sell/how much and will come in here and bemoan it every time something doesn't meet your expectations!

Are you an actual sales analyst and have actual knowledge of how much something should sell or are you just pulling numbers out of nowhere??

It may not have matched 3DS or Vita, but Wii U outperformed everything else this week. They may not be amazing figures, but those numbers are an improvement on previous weeks, a positive, yet people with a negative agenda will twist it to "still crap".

Well if nintendo shipped 100k of a game and it sold 22k in week 1 (the busiest week) I think its safe to say Nintendo expected to sell more copies.

A bump from an awful 11k a week to 22k a week with no games on the horizon is not that positive at all as next week its going straight back down the 10-12k a week. I dont see how outperfoming the PS3, PSP and Wii is anything to shout about. They are old consoles and that should be standard.

Again I would say you dont need me to decide whether its good or bad just look at what nintendo predicted for wii u hw sales and then its pretty easy to come to the conclusion its bad.

I'm pleased to see Muramasa chart well as it almost doubled its Wii debut. Hopefully it can generate a nice tale instead of just dropping off a cliff like most PSV games.

Not particularly surprised by G&W though I thought it might do a little better given it's not even a full price release like NSMBU. Never expected it to bump hardware sales much though.

Again, I'm not saying it's necessarily good. I'm saying it's an improvement. It's so easy to twist numbers to suit any argument, good or bad. It's why I never bother getting into arguments over statistics, it's pointless.

It just seems like too often people act like they're experts when all they are doing is reading numbers and attaching their opinion to it :p

Where the hell do people get these shipment numbers from anyway?
