Ashley Posted June 16, 2007 Author Posted June 16, 2007 Because the swearing ban is only one two words, which are considered the most vulgar and this is still a family place. And chances are if whatever you wish to say is under ten characters it is not productive or useful, so you may as well not say it.
conzer16 Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 Is it possible to correct the time on the timestamps that are used on the comments on every news article? It seems to be 6 hours behind BST (British Summer Time ~ GMT+1) I know this is a main site issue not the forums but whatever... *COUGH* *ahem*
Ashley Posted June 17, 2007 Author Posted June 17, 2007 Still, its a site problem which needs addressing to the programmer (even if its trivial he still needs to do it) and hes busy. Its pretty minor so buck up for now :p
Zell Posted June 23, 2007 Posted June 23, 2007 There are 196 guests online right now. I reckon now is the time to force all these people to join, ie don't allow them to view the boards unless they're registered.

Entice people to join...
Fierce_LiNk Posted June 23, 2007 Posted June 23, 2007 Why not run a news article on the mainsite about the forums? Entice people to join... I had that idea earlier in the staff boards. YOU STOLE MY MOVES!

Emasher Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 make the wii channels discussion a sub/child board of wii discussion.
UK Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 Make a board entitled 'general ninty chat', and one called 'music/tv/film'. I think it should be done.
Emasher Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 i suggested a general nintendo board once and it got turned down because the wii board would get under used then the same thing would happen to general with a media board i've tried both on another forum, the general nintendo board didn't work the tv and film board works only because there were so many people on that forum who are interested in that type of media but i don't think it would work here
Tellyn Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 I think a media board would work, as in the general forum, a lot of threads of that context get lost under actual general threads.
Maiky-NiSuTe Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 i think you have to take a close look at these so known guests and i think you will see that most will be search engines or spam bots.
Emasher Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 msn search is the big one, since barely anyone uses it anyway just ban all IPs starting with 65.*
UK Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 I think that people with less than 100 posts who have been here over 6 months should be deleted. It makes the memberlist look so... untidy.
Emasher Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 those who aren't active should be deleted imagine if someone was a 99 posts after six months
UK Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 those who aren't active should be deleted imagine if someone was a 99 posts after six months Exactly! They just make the memberlist look a mess. I looked at who's birthday it is today, at the bottom of the forum homepage. One has been here since last year and posted two posts, and the other has been here since 2005 and only posted thrice! They're missing out on a great forum here, and it's an honour to be part of a great forum, it really is.
Supergrunch Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 I think less than 100 posts is a bit harsh... some people may just want to say the odd thing. However, I think it's fair to delete all the people who've been here for a while and have no posts at all.
Ashley Posted June 26, 2007 Author Posted June 26, 2007 Well vB makes it very easy to find, for example, all users who havnt had any activity in the last year and have 0 posts. However, they don't make it easy to delete them all. You have to do it manually one by one and its very tedius. (tedious? is there an 'o'?)

It's also tedious being a grammar/spelling Nazi.

Supergrunch Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 deleate their accounts on their birthdays (it will take a year but it won't be quite as tedious) What a lovely present.
Ashley Posted June 27, 2007 Author Posted June 27, 2007 deleate their accounts on their birthdays (it will take a year but it won't be quite as tedious) Yeah instead every (well most) days I'll have to check. I mean for serious, I do have a life you know :p
